What a great man. So spot on and empathetic and insightful. A worthy story teller. A teacher worth listening to. I never appreciated his mind and spirit until this interview.

Pete is a very complex man, a creative genius. All I can say really, is he had a huge & wonderful impact on my life.

I love how over the years since it's inception that Pete has gradually worked out what was and is going on in his head and where a lot of it came from. I guess when you're constantly re-confronted with such a deep part of creativity that you have lots of opportunities to keep the internal psycho analysis dialect going. In a way he's become his own shrink. I guess to make such a piece of art that is so topical and connects to so many people, at heart you must have a huge gift for observation and also translating that into a form of art.

Single parent household and raised by a grandmother who was nurturing yet I was a runaway and git arrested. Group counseling court appointed.I have sbsndmdnt issues revolving door of stepfather's, born out of wedlock and raised in the church. I see myself as different, an eccentric with myriad idiosyncracies. I found creative expressions as an emotional release a patron if the cultural arts. Radio devotee accrued my knowledge if music and attending Carnegie Hall performances, opera, ballet, jazz. Personal growth makes me a more well rounded person the trials and tribulations that builds character. Cheers Sir Peter

Interesting how he conceived the idea of Lifehouse 25 years before the internet would be a thing. What a prophet! Probably the reason he had trouble articulating it, was that he knew that something very destructive to human social evolution was coming, but he just didn't know what it was!

Is there any subject that he can't talk about with at least basic knowledge?
Partially he speaks like ready to transcribe into a print version.
Tell me where did he get a bad education?
One day, Mr. Townshend, you will be recognized what you are: high up there among the best song writers ever.

That after The Iraq War everybody can speak their mind is a big proviso. I would like to correct Sir Peter on this and say the vast majority of people can speak their mind but unfortunately there are still some who can not. I know this for a fact as I am one of them. Since the horrible Helen Jones has given up her seat in parliament I feel reinvigorated enough to contact my MP about this sad matter.

10:30 No, Pete, my favorite artist in the world, we are still not safe for anybody to say what is on their mind. Not safe from government, not safe from people who want to impose religious government either.

AustrianAnarchy You're right, but that's in hindsight. This interview is a couple of years old, but I bet he would agree with you now. He's quite the intellectual. :-)

Pete has turned into something he has hitherto condemned. Seeing himself as Tommy. He made a mistake,, got caught and now he tells us he was exploring a childhood trauma.
