There's a lot of tutorials on youtube that I saw with that "stereotypical" Indian accent. A couple of years ago, I didn't know English very well, I didn't hear anyone talking about an Indian accent and didn't watch Hollywood movies in English. But I noticed myself that Indians have this pronunciation. Many Indians really have this unique accent and there's nothing to be ashamed of. I kinda like this accent. I'm from Russia btw

Not only for him. It is fairly common neither do most get offended at the accent. Every uber ride in America I have taken with someone from India because they always ask where I am from due to my Tennessee accent.(in Illinois) so I always figure it out thay way. 7 of the classmates through college who are from parts of India and traveled to get a degree here. Now if the character is a born American for example with a parent who was also born in america with parents who both or maybe one has an American "accent" it would sound pretty basic American like portrayed here. The way this is portrayed is literally a limited to make it seem like the whole of it is in this way. It is not. When casting, it is clear what is wanted. You can always not do it. It is a non issue compared to other things in Hollywood...

Similar to how I’ve spent my ENTIRE life in Australia and I’m yet to hear someone (in person) with a stereotypical accent/say stereotypical Aussie things.

Think it depends on the person, like if you're willing to learn different cultures you tend to pick up on dialogue and speech patterns. But if you're willing to be in their country it's also the same way, will pick up on the language but ppl from different countries think we're not speaking completely accurate,. So the Indian accent is accurate depending on the person, if they never picked up on American culture than probably didn't pick up on our way of speaking, but also if you're born here you definitely tend to pick up on the way we speak. Which is why some Indians don't talk with an Indian accent. Kinda like my grandparents are from Germany but I don't have an accent. But they do.
