      This is definitely a great value at $25 for this specific product.
      However, I would highly recommend also keeping a lookout for “adjustable dumbbells.” A set of adjustable weight dumbbells is 1000X better in terms of weight variety and quick change. They are more pricey for sure, but an invaluable investment.

    Cool review! Because I found your video I was able to buy the last one at my local Five Below. Question, based on your experience, do you think that I could purchase an additional (4) 10lb. plates and use with the bars provided without an issue? FYI, they also had a Flat Bench for $25 and it's pretty sturdy. Thanks for the review for inquiring minds.

    • @HowtoandReviewsOfficial
      @HowtoandReviewsOfficial  Před rokem +1

      Any Standard plates will work with these (plates with 1” diameter hole).
      The bars are plastic, so I would be hesitant to load them up with too much weight, but I think 10lb plates would be ok.
      They have a $25 flat bench?! That’s interesting. I will keep an eye out for it.

      @@HowtoandReviewsOfficial Thanks for the reply. Yeah the flat bench works for now (but it's a steal). Capacity is 300lbs. I'm 165 lbs. plus the full bar (42 lbs), so its stable with 207 lbs. on my end. I believe the Five Beyond items are limited to locations based on need. However, thanks again for your review and response as it was very helpful to me. Stay blessed brother.

    I’m actually interested in a review of their $25 bench. I want to create my own home gym, and am on something of a tight budget, but I noticed cut says it’s only rated for 300 lbs. I’m already 250, and can (more or less) bench/squat 165 (I use the bench as a metric for how far down and to assist with form on squats - given the concept is literally sitting down and standing back up) and want to shoot for about 315, which means even if I lost weight (instead of replacing fat with muscle), I’m reportedly over the acceptable weight limit. However, I want to give it the benefit of a doubt before writing it off.

      @@HowtoandReviewsOfficial also, another curiosity, but how does this handle other weight formats? For instance, Walmart sells 25 lb dumbbell plates. If you were to stack about 12 of them (300 lbs total - six on each dumbbell unit)), could the main bar/adjustable dumbbells (both) handle them? I doubted it originally until you mentioned they all had a steel core. Honestly, the dumbbells themselves don't concern me (I know you're usually pushing the limit once you get adjustables past 100, though), but the hollow connector does have me a little worried for my plans. Especially if I were to try to rig two of them together to offset the length deficit.

    • @painfish208
      @painfish208 Před rokem

      to embellish my odd approach, my finances make it such that I have to buy things in small weekly increments (I'm taking a similar approach for an outdoor living space. Two paving stones/two angle stone for a fire pit each week as paychecks permit). Basically, I'd probably buy (at least) one of these on one week and a plate or pair of plates each successive week. Similar with the bench. I have a really good gym membership for an amazing price right now, but between my work, my wife's work, my stepdaughter's school, one vehicle, and paying off a credit card for the sake of a cruise (the cruise is on the card because bucket list), time and money both tend to be a point of contention. This is the best solution I've come up with for my unique situation.

      They can be combined to some degree. If this is the route you want to go, I think there is a benefit to having two sets.
      However, I recommend looking into “adjustable dumbbells” as well if you are not familiar with them. I have a set of power blocks for about 15 years and love them. You may be able to find a good deal on something like this through something like Facebook marketplace.

    • @HowtoandReviewsOfficial
      @HowtoandReviewsOfficial  Před rokem +1

      There is a different variety of exercises that can be done with dumbbells versus a barbell.
      The difference really comes into play with heavier weight. The benefit probably isn’t significant with this light weight set.
      But, it’s a sales feature that sets it apart from just a pair of dumbbells.

    Could this get me a big chest like would it work for my chest

    • @HowtoandReviewsOfficial
      @HowtoandReviewsOfficial  Před 2 lety +2

      To grow your chest, you would be doing chest press exercises (dumbbell bench press). It will work for a while as long as it challenges you. However, to grow you need to continue increase the weight in future workouts (progressive overload). Increasing the weight is required to demand more and force growth. Once you outgrow these, you will need heavier dumbbells.
      Weather or not these are a good fit for you depends on your current strength.
      I would personally recommend looking into adjustable weight dumbbells at some point. They are more pricey, but usually offer roughly 10 to 50 lbs (or more) in increments of 5 lbs. They are like 10 sets of dumbbells in 1.
