The reason we must expose ourselves to different genres of music. We never know what song will 'hit us in the head.' I heard this song for the first time yesterday while watching Taylor's 'First pond Forklore sessions. Another song caught my attention, but this song touched my heart because of its reliability.
Her new album is a masterpiece. You should react to this is me trying next!!! it is such a relatable song with strong lyrics as well
As someone whose fav genre is rap this track caught my attention the first time I heard it bc of the hip hop-ish vibe. The rest of the album is great too.

Loved your reactions. I’m late to the Taylor Swift party as well. But I’ve recently been listening to other music Of hers. It’s all different. I really like this album, it’s my album of the year. One thing for certain no one can deny, she is an all-star lyricist that’s really highlighted on this album. What I’ve learned about her writing is that she incorporates words and lyrics that link songs together, not only within an album but With songs on other albums. Maybe recalling the same event but told differently, or remembering a detail, or looking back 5 yrs later maybe she writes about something as a more adult perspective, but they are usually linked by her words Describing places, colors, etc. Here she has a teenage love triangle of three songs told from the three different perspectives. She has also combined all these songs into chapters based on their Themes that she envisioned in her mind, and there are 4 chapters on this album. I don’t know if other singer songwriters do this too but I think it is brilliant.

I am sure someone already told you, but in Folklore most of the songs are character driven (she created some characters and wrote about them or took other people's stories, like in The Last Great American Dynasty).
There are three songs connected in what Taylor calls the "Teenage Love Triangle". The story is basically about James and Betty, who are dating until they have to be apart for the summer and James cheats on Betty with another girl.
Cardigan, which you already listened to, is from Betty's POV.
August is from the other girl's POV.
Betty is from James's POV.
They are also told in different timelines. Betty is told right after the cheating happens, August is after the summer love between James and the other girl has passed, and as you listened Cardigan is told when Betty is already older and looking back on the young love.

id say give the entire Folklore album a try since its pretty cohesive & you seem to be enjoying it. I agree with others that you should check out the Reputation album, edgier & a bit harder hitting. She is known for her lyrics & she has been called queen of bridges many times.
