- Certainly hanging out with GG Allin for eight day cand be detrimental to one’s health. I thought it to be a necessary chance, as I wanted to create something unique and different with the most notorious individual in Rock and Roll. I brought him to Tampa where we worked on a number of projects, most notably, Carnival of Excess. In this video I explain how and why I started working with GG. I briefly chat about meeting him in person for the first time in North Carolina when he was there doing the vocal for the ANTiSEEN album and the ax (and band) photo shoot I did with him. This is a broad look at what were were up to that week in Tampa. In future videos I will be going into detail about specific events such as the in-store at Alternative Records, The limo ride, the rat tattoo, the photo shoot with the strippers and more. But, in this video I wanted to provide an introduction to the evolution of my work with the most disturbing person in the history of Rock Music. Enjoy!

He certainly was interesting! Hahaha Thanks for checking out the channel and for the support!!
@@ponkmedia anytime brother love your work plus you produced arguably the best outlaw country album ever! My thanks for creating such work!
He was totally down to earth ,cool ,funny good guy when he wasn't "ON" and if you were talking to him before the show and thought oh yea he's cool and make the mistake of standing too close while performing you were gonna get fucked with
@@MrChezlor Thank you for listening to it. We had a lot of fun making Carnival.
What is ponk?
I love this channel. GG and Tiny Tim stories are my favorite! Hell yeah. The Carnival Of Excess album is one of my favorites.
Glad you like the stuff! Thanks for checking it out and for your support!
I was in two different MI prisons with GG. I recognize some of the artwork on your envelopes. GG was writing and receiving letters from Manson asking for advice on how to put "danger" back into rock and roll.
Nice! Hope things are going well for you now. He mentioned to me that he was writing him, but I can't remember if he got a response. Thanks much for checking out the channel/content. Appreciate the support!
Congrats on getting the 5k subs! I got into GG after hearing about him on Morton Downey. Next to Suicide Sessions his acoustic stuff is my next favorite. Looking forward to the rest of your videos
Thank you! I appreciate the support that you and all of the others have shown. The Morton Downy stuff is epic!! Thanks for checking out the channel and for the support! Much appreciated! More GG content to come!
Such a drastic difference between solo GG and the Jabbers. He even looked different.
For Sure!!! We used to joke about how "ugly" he got as the years went on. He liked it! Hahaha!! Thanks for checking out the channel and for the support! Much appreciated! More GG content to come!
@@ponkmedia anytime man. Love this channel! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for these uploads. People can say whatever they want about the guy, he was certainly interesting. Looking forward to more stories.
He was an extremely insightful person. A lot smarter than people give him credit for. He was interesting and complex. I really enjoyed hanging out with him, having a few beers and talking about "stuff"...non music related things. Ya know, just shooting the breeze.
@@ponkmedia Having seen videos of his shows, it's somehow difficult to picture him doing "normal" stuff. But of course, underneath the facade, he was "just a guy". It's always the most damaged people who become the most interesting, having had loads of real life experience. Keep the videos coming.
@@s.damienhammeren417 Thanks for checking out the channel and for the support. Much appreciated!!
Man, each video you put out gets better and better
That's true, too.

Can’t wait for more !!! Great stuff as always mark! Take care
Cool. Thanks for watching the stuff and for the support!!
Hey Mark! Good to see you!! Loving the stories
Hi Justin! Hope all is well with you my friend!! Thank you for watching the stuff and checking out the content. The Son of Evil drawings still ROCK all these years later!! Thanks again for doing them! People really dig that video!
I was at the Alternative Records signing event in Tampa. That was wild. I can be seen standing directly to the right of the girl when he signs her boobs wearing a black & yellow GBH shirt. I bought a ton of autographed records and stuff that day from him for dirt cheap. Sadly, I no longer have any of it.
That's awesome! I have seen you in the footage. That was classic when he signed her boobs! That was a fun day!! We drank the river dry that night! Hahaha
Jesus Christ Allin & The U-Boats!! lol
Great story thanks for sharing Mark!!

Nice video. I like your background music.
It made me think of GG’s War In My Head.
Yes, similar to that. The stuff in the video is by an old (now defunct) industrial noise duo out of Brooklyn called... and so on. Thanks for checking out the channel. Appreciate the support!
Great history! I've responded to one of your other vids, and i know your accounts are solid. When I was talking to him (after the Wisconsin Trial), I tried to book him in the Tampa/St. Pete area- which was our hub in those days. I called Daddy Kool (Tony), whose comically famous quote was "No Clubs won't touch it! No Clubs won't touch it!". I talked to GG quite a bit when he was at the Ann Arbor Y, and I can definitely testify to his lucidity and intelligence. He had goals, plans, and a certain work ethic. That being said, I also witnessed him switching masks. I never deceived him, but when he was just focused on talking to me, he was "Kevin". Once he heard people, especially women, in the background, he was GG's stage persona.
Yeah…he was an interesting and complex guy. He was on top of things when he was at the AA Y. Im sure you had some good chats with him there. Hahaha…I wouldn’t ever imagine No Clubs messing around with him. They put on a lot of great shows in the area for sure. Great stuff man! I very much appreciate you checking out the channel and for the support. Thank you!
Thanks so much for posting. :D

Ahy Man I just have to say DAMN I had No idea how involved you were with the birth of Some of the greatest Acoustic Songs ever HEARD!!! Huge Fan of Carnival and BLeedin/STinkin/Drinking eTc. and been So excited watching your videos. GG's acoustic MuSic Literally helped Change my LiFe as a Musician. I met Merle back in Like 2018 at a Murder Junkies show and he was Like the ChiLLesT dude so I can only imagine what it was like working with the Man Himself. So the bathroom Sessions was recorded at your home in Tampa!?!?!? That's So Sick. Did you WiTness when GG decided to STrap the Syringe to the end of the Guitar? Haaha Like Seriously what you guys put together is truly amazing...ONE OF A KiND. Love that LasT Video of what Music did GG LisTen to at the time to! Thanks for uploading and replying to aLL of US!!! Looking forward to more Stories. 🤘
Glad that you like the stuff! We had a lot of fun making it all. Yes, I shot the acoustic stuff in my bathroom. Hahaha..yeah, we were laughing about the syringe and I told GG that he should put it in there to troll the rock star guitar players because they used to put cigs there hahaha. I'm going to do a video about the acoustic stuff. I shot some footage of him This Room in the living room as well. I cut them together in the Carnival full vide (on the channel). Stoked to hear that you like the stuff! Appreciate the support. More GG stuff to come! Thanks again!!
hey man i interviewed Geeg during the alternative records in store ,amid much chaos and i had a diy zine i printed back then and i have a bunch of photos from that day,and i gave gg a pack of joints that day,and some tapes of my band "cat machine" do you know what happened to those joints and/ or tapes???
Cool! Would love to see the photos sometime! Nice!! Funny story....when we got back to the house and were sorting through everything, he came upon your gift. GG didn't smoke weed. I remember him oping that pack and saying "you want these...I just wanna drink" hahaha...so, I consumed them as we drank heavily through the night (and following days). I don't know what happened to the tapes though. He never mentioned it to me. Gonna be doing an episode about the In Store soon. Thanks for checking out the channel and for the support! And thanks for the gifts that day!! Much appreciated! More GG content to come!

Hey!
¡¡Gracias!!
Thanks for this. I was born after GG died. But him compared to all the other hardcore artists of his time...... he struck the best balance of hardcore combined with beautiful melodies. When you hear recordings of him off the cuff, it's not like the crazy tabloid stories. There's a recording out there I love where he says something like "I'd hate to admit it but I love some sleazy pop music." which lined up perfectly with the kind of music GG produced. There's another world where he could have been a pop artist. Such a talented musician.
Yeah man! I think that quote about sleazy pop music was from an interview I did/released, possibly on the Parole Chats thing on Spotify etc. Thanks for checking out the content and for the support! Much appreciated! More GG content to come!
Thanks Mark, this is all interesting stuff

Wicked sweet love carnival album, and most his other albums
Cool! Glad you like it!! More GG content on the way. Thanks for the support!!
Sorry if you already covered this I’m new to your channel, but have you ever read the graphic novel about GG? It was called Rock and Roll Terrorist
Honestly, I don't think I have. Through the decades (and the extensive work I did with him) it's always interesting to see new stuff come out etc. GG was certainly an interesting and complex individual. Thanks for checking out the channel and for the support! Much appreciated! More GG content to come!
@@ponkmedia Np. Just thought I’d ask about the book. I read it in one sitting, I’d like to hear your opinion on it sometime if you have the time to check it out. I love your channel so far and look forward to seeing what comes next from you

Great work ,I have been a GG fan for a long time ever since I bought a compilation VHS tape with him live from SanFransisco, have you ever seen or heard Jessie Stewart live recording of Marauder pretty awesome, the one in a bar, solo on a stool when he drops his pick and chugs a beer at the end

Actually in my humble opinion…
G.G. Allin and The Criminal Quartet
“Carnival Of Excess” 1991
full band country rock album recorded in Florida
is a bit more polished than
Johnny Thunders
“Hurt Me” 1983
solo acoustic album recorded in Paris, France
Both albums are AMAZING!!
I think you nailed it with coming up with the idea to capture G.G. Allin in a bit more polished form from the bare bones acoustic country songs he was recording in mid to late 1980’s…
& recording a G.G. Allin country rock album channeling some of his favorite country influences
Hank Williams Sr. & Jr.
Lefty Frizzell
Webb Pierce
Patsy Cline
Johnny Cash
George Jones
Loretta Lynn
Merle Haggard
Johnny Paycheck
David Allan Coe
Gram Parsons
Townes Van Zandt
Etc Etc
We had a lot of fun creating Carnival. It wasn't easy because it was very different from his other stuff. There were some tense moments and I will be talking in a bit more detail about the recording session etc., in a future episode. Thanks again!
Thank you for sharing!! If you can please shed some additional light on…
Bob Widenhofer
(from 1980’s Zephyrhills, Florida hardcore punk group U-Boats)
Playing guitar & writing the music on G.G’s “Carnival Of Excess”
&
the additional unsung musicians…
Andy Irvine - bass
Paul Reller - drums
Shirewn Kadaver aka “The Razor” - various backing vocals
&
Stephen Michael Bonner aka Mark Kramer producing “Carnival Of Excess” 1991 recording sessions…
THANK YOU!!
Bob Widenhofer engineered, mixed, & produced one of my old groups (“The Urgencies” recording sessions out in our home base of Austin, Texas and the recordings turned out to be some of my favorite recordings we did back in the day…
Bob also has helped work on recordings with
“The Ugly Beats”
&
“The Sons Of Hercules”
Which are 2 of the premier Texas neo garage punk / psychedelic rock groups!!
The Sons Of Hercules led by the 6 foot + Frank Pugliese garage punk Frankenstein who was lead vocalist for the earliest & 1st San Antonio punk rock group “The Vamps” (formed 1972) & later played in 1980’s punk rock & garage punk groups “Mystery Dates”, “The Infidels”, & “The Morlocks”…
The Vamps who opened for Sex Pistols @ Randy’s Rodeo, January 8th, 1978!!
Great history and true.

I met GG in 91, I guess after this time as it was fall. But no one mentioned he had this acoustic album coming out. Was it like being kept under wraps?
Also, during an interview you have his prison addy up. But it seems the interview was done after he got out of prison. Why? This doesn't make sense. Why would he want mail going to prison after he was out?
Carnival isn't an acoustic album, but I hear what you are saying. No, it wasn't kept under wraps, I just didn't have any money to release it. Took every cent I had to make it..hahaha. Not sure why he chose not to mention it. That's GG for ya. In terms of the prison addy, In my work/correspondence with GG over the years, he sent me letters from 4 or 5 different facilities that he was in. When I use graphical elements in these videos (like prison addresses etc), things like exact addresses probably won't match up etc. I have hours of recorded conversations from prison etc, so I don't know exactly what addresses go with what conversations etc. Best thing to do....enjoy the content. Thanks!
Like the guitar player of The Jabbers said, Kevin Allin, the normal guy, wouldn't have been asked to be on Geraldo and Jerry Springer and all those other shows that got him all that exposure. A lot of his persona was an act that he created for attention. Pretty much anyone you talk to that worked with him or knew him in real life would say he was mostly a normal guy off stage. I was in a band that toured with Antiseen a few times and Jeff said he was basically playing a character
Yeah, pretty much. I agree with Jeff. To some extent he definitely was, especially at the end. There were a few times when he was at my place, where it got tense and “GG” almost came out and I felt pretty uneasy, but we worked it out and all was good. He had a great sense of humor and was fun to hang out with and have a few beers. What was the name of your band?
@@ponkmedia I was with Savage Master at the time
cool story my friend
Thanks for checking out!
Do you ever talk to his brother?
no. We used to talk many years ago, but no longer are in communication.
I would've loved to have met gg. Not at a venue though lol. I get grossed out when spit drips on me from the ceiling at a show. 😂
Yeah, his shows could be "challenging" hahaha. I was glad I had that above ground pool at the house when he was staying at my place. We swam a fair amount.
Shit dude this is dope! My family hates me for listening to his music. But I do not care. Hell i'm not old enough to buy his cds. So I am burning cds. I wish I could have met GG. Its weird I look up to him like a father. Because my dad dined and dashed my mom, and he did not realize he got her pregenant. Momma died 12 years ago so all I have is GG. But hell, I am doing fine!
I have been a gg fan for 6 years when i stumbled upon his acoustic stuff. Ive been into punk for about 8 years, and so i loved all of his stuff.
Been through hell in only 16 years!
Stay strong man!
@@ponkmedia Im trying hard as hell to keep going. I want to have an impact like a fucking meteor. Make my name remembered. Hell, or make my name feared.
Was GG heavier in body weight in 1993 then he was in 1991 that you noticed?
I'm unsure. Possibly from booze bloat.
He got ants in his pants.
😂Damn homie,Im a GG fan but would never invite the Mans to my house 😂
