I started started adding ALL My coffee grounds when you posted your last "grounds" video. The earthworms got off the sofa and went into hyper-drive. 😊
And be careful -If you lose any more weight you might blow away with the leaves.

WOW the worms are on the move. Nice to hear. THANK YOU for the 50K award. I am still the smallest garden CZcams channel for the length of time I been on. But my award is helping people to see gardening a different way. Which might be very helpful this year to garden for free. Happy Sunday.

I haven’t put fertilizer on my garden in a few years. I did use what was left of the organic fertilizer I had left over as a booster to my hot compost last year, but that was just I didn’t want that financial input to be completely wasted.

As soon as I started adding used coffee grounds to my garden as a soil amendment, I started getting wild mushrooms growing where ever I added it. I hadn't seen a single mushroom there for 25 years I lived there, so it clearly did and added *something* that my other soil amendments didn't.

Thank you! I have been using coffee grounds for many years; great to see how you address the topic. I always add the grounds to my compost piles; reading concerns on caffeine slowed me down on this abundant resource. It's already ground & heats up the compost nicely. Smells nice too.

Coffee grounds make a lot of sense to me, but we don't drink coffee and I never seem to remember to get them from anyone when I'm in town. That's the only reason I haven't tried using them yet - but I'll have to make a point of it.
If my understanding is correct, pH really isn't much of an issue anyway unless there's something really messed up with the soil. It seems from what I've read (and videos of yours) that living roots and all that soil biology will tend to balance out the pH right where it needs to be in the actual root zone. The soil in my area is known for being pretty acidic, but I've never seen any pH-related problems in nearly ten years of gardening here.
The info here about coffee grounds locking up pesticides and herbicides is really fascinating. That's very good news!

Thank you Mark for your video on this. They make commercial coffee machines that use compostable coffee ‘pods’ where once the coffee is brewed it is collected in a tray under the machine. I can get all the coffee grounds that I could ever use in a lifetime. You might check some businesses especially in a urban location. Office buildings, with multiple floors would be ideal. Just a thought.

ph of coffee is around 4 that is not neutral it is acidic and over time it can change soil ph if there is too much and even used coffee grounds should be boiled to remove any remaining caffeine and some other chems present in coffee that can actually stunt a plant.

@@iamorganicgardening In fact I was talking to the manager of the Starbucks I normally go to, and he offered to stockpile grounds for me. As a result we came to an every other day pick up agreement. Starbucks especially, but most coffee companies, would rather see someone reusing the grounds to benefit the environment. As opposed to it ending up buried in a landfill creating methane and other “greenhouse” gases.
