Love these sounds so much but don't have an SH-32 to be able to make use of patches. If you were willing to make a sample pack I would definitely grab it!. Keep up the fantastic work!
Interesting idea. The issue with sample packs, especially with Roland is that they rigorously enforce no sampling from their samples. People might say this is a VA synth, however there are definitely samples in it! I'll give some thought.

@@Soundsauca Plan on buying this soundbank at my next paycheque. I'd have made the same decision even without the visuals, but your overall style and design is excellent! Just curious what program/process you use for the wireframe animations?
Hi @Cericle, good stuff! With regard to the visuals, it's a while ago now (at least in my memory of doing it)! I used quite a lot of After Effects and some plugins. Trapcode suite, Plexus can do some stuff IIRC. I brought in some obj files and rendered them out. I've done a bit less of that recently as my machine struggles to cope with the render times etc. Hope to get a better one some day and maybe do stuff in 4K, but when I last tried some stuff, my laptop almost died (battery swelled up due to heat!!!)
I think it’s because it’s very easy to make a bad sound with the SH. Filters like to distort and there’s some near fatal flaws in its operation. On the up side, it does sound really good! and different to the JD-800/990 & JV-1080 etc!
@@Soundsauca Interesting insights, thank you. I own an SH-201 and it's funny because your first two sentences seem to apppy to it a lot more than your SH-32! Although, maybe that's just a testament to your programming skills and resourcefulness here, getting the best out of it and mitigating its pitfalls, as opposed to any major difference in overall synth engine quality... 😅
NP! Well, I think they share some similar traits. Never had a 201 but I did play with one back in the day. Always tempted with it. SH-32 is very good at sounding up-front. Took a bit of time to work out how to back that off when needed for certain sounds. I think the SH-201 uses some sort of adaptation on the JP8k series. The VA engine IIRC is in the V-Synth. The SH is kind of a sample based thing loosely related to the JV/XV line. However, they both share a common lineage so there's probably some crossover!
It's unpopular because people are too lazy to really dwell into a synthesizer. My experience is....that even a Yamaha Cs1x can sound incredible when you know how to get all out of it...maybe invest in an outboard filter with decent resonance....use Plug inns....etc... Same with the Roland SH32...a little synth that can seriously give you cutting lead sounds for trance.... digital sounds that are high frequent...you can make any synth sound great....that's how we worked in the 90ies.... limitations had us get the most out of our equipment...
Limitations certainly bring the best out of things. It's half the reason I've stuck with hardware sound banks. I've got boatloads of plugins, but I find I get lost in them. It's not that I can't program them, but I like having a limit or having to work around something!

I totally understand. It’s a marmite synth. The 24db filter (and even the 12 db one) can clip badly. With this sound bank, I tried hard to reduce the issue by lowering the levels when needed. I agree! The chord function is a lot of fun. Thanks!
Hey @John Schade. Yes I did. I'm glad you like it. I like doing it but I struggle with the amount of time it takes me! Also my laptop just had to have it's battery replaced as it swelled up. @@Soundsauca Oh yeah, I like messing around with graphic art & music as a hobby and its a lot of work!! most people probably wont recognize the extra effort but it looks great, keep it up!
I bought on if these from Guitar Center used in "great condition". The filter encoder was severely damaged and it looked like the person used it wiped their ass with it. I was so disappointed.
Great sounding set! Is it possible to drive other synths with the SH-32? Apply things like the chord function or arpeggiator via midi? And could you point my toward some good videos that go into this?
Thanks a lot! Not really unfortunately. You may be able to drive another synth from the built in arp. I tried extensively to get the step sequencer running for some things but it was a massive hassle and I wasn't happy with the results. I'll take a look and see if I can find any examples of people hooking it up to other gear. I treat it as a synth only really. It is 4 part multi-timbral but I found when layering some sounds the timing became really loose so I didn't pursue any multi patches. Thanks for stopping by.
Soundsauca thanks for getting right back to me! That’s good information I appreciate it. But even just being able to use the arp externally would be huge. If you can find any resource that talks about this, I would be grateful. Ive been looking but I’m new to this particular topic. I saw someone driving a System1M with a Korg EMX recently and it really got me thinking about this sort of thing...
No problem. I tell you what, I’ll get it out tomorrow and wire it up (I have limited space so things get rotated!). Bear with me and I’ll post back any findings.
Hi @Intangible Man, I've got it out. It works! It sends out midi arp data and the chords via the preview button. So yes, you can drive arps/step sequences from it. Hope this helps!
Hi there. These are synth patches. A file is transferred to the hardware synth which can then be played. You would need the actual synth to use. I hope this helps:)
Yes you need a computer and a midi connection to it. There’s no USB so you’d need a midi interface. There’s instructions included on how to load and what free software to use too.
Hi there. They are supplied as a midi sysex (system exclusive) dump. You'd need a USB to midi interface, a Mac or PC with a sysex utility: - www.snoize.com/sysexlibrarian (Mac) - www.midiox.com (PC) Pdf instructions are included but if you want any more info, shoot me a message over here: www.soundsauca.com/contact Thank you!
Hello, I sincerely apologise for this. I've just sent you a mail with the sound bank. Some technical update has occurred. I'm looking to resolve this immediately. Many thanks.
Hi Andre, thanks for stopping by. Yes I programmed the SH, and dumped the sysex bank out to file. This can then be loaded in any SH-32. There's actually 128 patches, the other 64 are a mixture of out-takes, experiments & other stuff as a bonus! The downside - someone has err... "shared" all my sounds! Knew it would happen but still hope people know I'm just one person. Still I like making the banks so I'll carry on regardless.
Hi there. They are supplied as a sysex file which can be transferred to the synth. Instructions are provided with the download so it’s all fairly straightforward. Hope that helps.

I bought on if these from Guitar Center used in "great condition". The filter encoder was severely damaged and it looked like the person used it wiped their ass with it. I was so disappointed.
That’s a shame. Mine has a loose lfo knob. Still works though. I’d take it back and try and find another.
Soundsauca you rock! That’s awesome. Much appreciated once again.
Hi @Intangible Man, I've got it out. It works! It sends out midi arp data and the chords via the preview button. So yes, you can drive arps/step sequences from it. Hope this helps!
How does this work? You buy the patches and import them onto the hardware? Or is this for a VST emulator of the SH-32?
Hi there. These are synth patches. A file is transferred to the hardware synth which can then be played. You would need the actual synth to use. I hope this helps:)
@@Soundsauca I'd love to buy one. This video piqued my interest - great work :)
Ah thanks mate! Yes it’s a great synth. I won’t say it’s not without its drawbacks, there’s many but it can be rewarding too.
Hi ,
loving the sounds !!! is it easy to import these files into the sh32 , how is it done ?
Hi sorry for delay in reply. Yes it is. It’s a slow machine so it can take a while. If you ran into trouble I’m always around to help! Thanks 😊
Soundsauca thank you - i get my sh32 on saturday- then i will buy ur soundpack formit, can u tell me how to import them ? Is it via a Computer ?
Yes you need a computer and a midi connection to it. There’s no USB so you’d need a midi interface. There’s instructions included on how to load and what free software to use too.
I couldn't find any instructions in the SH-32 to import a sysex file. Are there instructions included in this soundset?
They are indeed included, the manual from Roland also details the process. Thanks
@@Soundsauca Great. Just bought the lot, great work mate!
how do I load these into my sh32 .. I'd buy this :)
Hi there. They are supplied as a midi sysex (system exclusive) dump. You'd need a USB to midi interface, a Mac or PC with a sysex utility:
- www.snoize.com/sysexlibrarian (Mac)
- www.midiox.com (PC)
Pdf instructions are included but if you want any more info, shoot me a message over here:

Thank you!
You make a tutorial for us please?
Hi @PJ Jackson, I have thought about doing that. It may be something I do one day. However I'm not sure I'll like being on camera or microphone!!
@@Soundsauca You can show your hands only and pitch shift your voice 😁
I bought the patches but unfortunately i get an error message before downloading 🙁
Hello, I sincerely apologise for this. I've just sent you a mail with the sound bank. Some technical update has occurred. I'm looking to resolve this immediately. Many thanks.
@@Soundsauca Yes!! Thanks ❤️
Nice... Is a sysex file used to create the new patches,?
Hi Andre, thanks for stopping by. Yes I programmed the SH, and dumped the sysex bank out to file. This can then be loaded in any SH-32. There's actually 128 patches, the other 64 are a mixture of out-takes, experiments & other stuff as a bonus! The downside - someone has err... "shared" all my sounds! Knew it would happen but still hope people know I'm just one person. Still I like making the banks so I'll carry on regardless.
Well I plan to buy your patches. You did some great work 💯
Hey thanks Andre. Sorry I went off on one! Nothing about you though!
Np... It's all good
Anyone have trouble with MIDI In on the SH?
What sort of trouble, transmission? It can be a fussy beast.
@@Soundsauca MIDI input isn't responding to any type of data. Tried my MPK225, PC (MIDI OX), MPC.
Ich würde das soundset gerne kaufen. Wie muss das installiert werden?
Hi there, contact me on my website (at the bottom) and I can help you.
Do you have an album?
Hi Stefan, no album right now, just patches. In the future who knows!
So how do I get these presets into the SH-32?
Hi there. They are supplied as a sysex file which can be transferred to the synth. Instructions are provided with the download so it’s all fairly straightforward. Hope that helps.
@@Soundsauca Amazing! I will have to try it out!
Which reverb is used in this demo?
Just the internal ones (No external FX used). There's a few different algorithms which can work with the sounds. Thanks for stopping by.
@@Soundsauca Thanks for the answer! It is interesting. It sounds like a high-end reverb. What ADC was used for digitization? In my opinion, the best sounds and demos of SH-32!
Thanks very much! The SH-33 has a glossy/glassy sound, but it’s a real pain to program sometimes.
UGHHHHHH
Love the feedback bud. Keep joggin’ 👍
sounds like a yamaha xg engine
Ahaa that's funny! Still remember my SW-60XG soundcard from way back when. IMO SH-32 eats XG for breakfast, but each to their own.
