After the lone post-apocalyptic survivor finds a unconscious girl in the forest, she reads her journal to reveal her journey.

The film won Best Cinematography and Best Screenplay at the 2015 Splice Student Film Fesitval.

That was the STUPIDEST place to put a tent EVER
I don't get why people in all of these disaster movies don't just move into a house with a fireplace. If you find one with a little brook or spring you will be a lot better off then living in a tent somewhere; especially in the winter. You could do that back east somewhere but not in a desert like place like Southern California.
why they are outside at night when there are so many free houses to live in. it's not normal

Power was on in the house too. Why wouldn't you occupy the house with all the food in it?
in all american post apocalypses movies people go to other houses to find food that is conserved beens or corn. In such situation you have a lot of time to make a garden near to house and organize your living there. People in ex-USSR have a great experience how to survive, it is our way of living.
Also, if she shot her rescuer by accident, wouldn't she have gone to her aid and tried to help ? Terrible ending.
Nothing in the Pack...you can tell by the way she handles it talking it off...and there is Truth in her doubting this Generations ability to Survive...It won't be a Video Game.... and your Phone won't work....No Skittles.

The friendliest "Hi" ever gets a bullet to the heart. reminds me of how each one of us see ourselves as 'good people'. the hero in our own story type of thing. she wrote nothing about shooting all people on site!

Some people don't like to go in other people's houses even during shtf and even though it looks deserted. Just because of the situation still doesn't make it right for somebody to go in and stay out of the weather........ you're still trespassing. So for that reason, Some people prefer to stay away from previously populated areas. And I can't say that I blame them in that respect. You never know when somebody's going to come to the house looking for something. And no one wants to be surprised or threatened regardless of the situation. Once you get used to it, being alone feels safer but the bad part of being alone is that eventually you drop your guard and become somewhat complacent. To each his own....... scripture in the Bible says that every man is right in his own eyes!
Absolutely incredible. The story, the acting, all outstanding. The only quibbles I have is that they seemed to be "too clean" for wandering around the wilderness for however long and I would think that they'd have learned some better survival skills for having survived as long as they have. But still...outstanding and the ending...I did not see that coming.
This was done at Messiah College...in Mechanicsburg, PA? It's nice to see such an incredible production from a local school.
A rule for gun safety...keep the gun on your person. Sometimes being the good Samaritan doesn't pay. Good work.

1st thought: pretty brunette ... must watch. 2nd thought: pretty blonde ... definitely must watch. 3rd thought: holy cow, I did NOT see that coming. Also, make up was excellent, story great. I would be glad to see more.

The ending did not work--a non-sequitur.
The Cliff edge woman could not have been so surprised that she shot the other woman; she could not have been.
She awoke to a crackling fire and a braced leg.
Another person had to be there to do this and it had to be a nice person since she was not eaten or anything else.
She should have been calling out to meet the other person.
The shock of another voice should have been virtually nil.
All prior was good. Change that ending and you will have a hit.

I agree....but even after the dumb blonde fell and supposedly broke her foot/ankle, she was still moving it...lol. Attention to detail is essential for great films. This was plain....BAD
The Blond was NUTS.... she just shot her "savior" and did not even go look if she could save her. That's the story here. She helped a wack job. and Got WACKED by her for the effort.

Just one prime example of why you should mind your own business. You never know how somebody is going to react. It's a cruel world and even more cruel during a pandemic or disaster. Just stating a fact!
Okay, when she begins opening the door on the microwave (to smell the stench), the guy on the sofa behind her has his head leaned one way. Then when the microwave door is closed, his head is leaned the other way. Then, at the last, when she's laying on the ground after being shot, her hand moves. Lots of moving dead people.

I'm pretty sure that I'm not alone when contemplating such a scenario. I have absolutely wondered about this. What might it be like ? Possibly kind of fun and interesting for a while. I do love adventure and scavenging. How long would the world feel wondrous ? With the little knowledge that I've obtained about survival I could probably last a while. How long before loneliness sets in ? I suppose that trekking through this type of existence with another would be preferable, and preferably with one of the opposite sex. I suppose that Illness or a broken limb could be quite disastrous. Meds DO reach an expiration date. So, I'll most likely think of this again when my mind wanders. And I suppose that ultimately I will most likely NOT be in such a position, but... One never knows :) Thanks for the upload, I enjoyed the story.

I'm rather surprised she reacted that way- someone had obviously tried to help her. The ending was so sad and not expected. Now she will have to manage on her own again with a bad leg.
I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't behave that way. It was a deliberate plot twist to generate discussion. I'm not sure about what. The only possible explanations are either a freak accident or psychopathy. But what is there to discuss about each?

if we all really knew what the end of the world would be like. we wouldnt let it happen. these films are cool but the real thing isnt.
If you take the flint out of a lighter you can use it as a flint striker, but it will be difficult to use it because the flint bar is very small
It was okay , the dead people kept moving around , plus if everyone supposed to be dead why are you living in a tent out in the cold on a cliff in the snow why not move into a house with a fireplace that way you can have shelter and heat.

do any of you watch even one prepper channel before you post? I am so angry with how dumbed down we have become that I am tierd of trying to correct the mistakes as I see them. I fear there will be no one left if it ever happens as our libs have planed for 1/2 of us. Sorry but I will pray that you study more and learn something. Motionless body during an apocolyptic event avoid. don't know why it is that way. could be disease? not even radiation which would be bad enough. People please learn something even just for yourselves. some watch these thinking they will learn something. do them a service. I guess there are enough that would check a body, but not me. laying in the snow probably dead and not knowing why. why risk it?

It held my interest and I was willing to overlook the terrible tent placement plot device, but geez the ending. I've rewatched and can see she was pretty detached from humanity but the ending fell into depravity. 😕

I'm sorry but this didn't work for me.😞 I gave it the benefit of doubt it would get better, but there were just a some inconsistencies they bothered me and made this unbelievable on the narrator's part. Who the hell pitches a tent on boulders?! How uncomfortable is just the thought of that. Then she searched that whole kitchen and only took a pan. I saw plenty of food and supplies. Even her outfit of choice made this unbelievable because I couldn't stop thinking them skinny jeans and fashion boots have got to be irritating and uncomfortable. And in the real dead of winter and in the woods who is walking around with their coat half open if they must be out there. Rule of 3, you have to protect your core until you build shelter. Or maybe her lack of survival was the whole point of this film. In that case it was good for what it is, but I didn't quite like it. I'm really into the survival and would've loved to see the other girl's POV in this too.
At least the other girl could light a fire!

So, we are suppose to buy into the fact that this person wasn't smart enough to know not to pitch a tent on the edge of a cliff? And we are suppose to accept the premise that she conveniently opens up a backpack and immediately finds a pistol? And we are suppose to buy into the fact that why would you leave your weapon in your backpack in the first place if there is a remote possibility that you may run into strangers while gathering sticks? This woman didn't even to bother to check on the other person which speaks volumes about her. And I didn't like her narration, the voice was annoying.

Some filmmakers gave birth to yet another god forsaken dystopian baby. The young woman in the film is brainless parking her tent on the edge of a cliff where it falls over the edge to end hurting her. A totally brainless joke. At the end are 2 survivors and 1 shoots the other out of fear. ...UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
This is what happens when you keep your gun in your backpack instead of on yourself.

The faithful is murdered (martyred) by the non-believer. An old story. I don't get a sense of how the writer feels about this common element of the human condition. Describing the sins of the non-believer destroying the believer isn't, itself, enough of a story. How does faith effect fear? Why is humanity violent? Put your feelings (or beliefs) into your story. Don't be afraid to write from an explicitly Christian perspective. This, while sincere, seems to be trying not to sound "preachy" or judgmental. Be honest!
