I remember when this happened, I was in the kitchen with my mother, who always listened to the radio, she told me they had just announced that Patsy Cline has been killed in an airplane crash. Our kitchen was silent for a long time that day, terribly sad for many of her fans and her family as well. We always listened to the Grand Ole Opry. It seems like these bright stars shine so bright in their own right, then their lights are extinguished so soon. All that died that night were so talented. To get your life just the way you wanted it, then pass away has always made me sad for them, especially Patsy, she had a hard poor life. Still makes me cry.

I remember hearing it on the car radio. March 5th was my mom's birthday, and we were taking her out to dinner. She was 33 that day. I was 6 years and 3 months old. It was a bittersweet day. (Jan Griffiths).

I know the gentleman she told to go home and see his wife and family instead of getting on that airplane. He drove all night to surprise his wife and got home not knowing what happened. He heard loud crying when he got out of the car and ran inside to ask what was going on. That is when he found out. His wife (Mary, God rest her soul) came unglued when she saw him. She was sure he was gone. Jim Haney is almost 100, wore the jacket he wore in her band to his Grandson's wedding last summer. As I understand it, it is the only one that survived, like him. The events of that day bother him to this very day. He is still a member of the Grand Ole Opry and had a career in music in the DC area, first person to put Loretta Lynn on TV, but got tired of seeing his friends die on tour in various road and airplane accidents/incidents and bailed. Spent the rest of his life playing locally and worked as a head of security at GEICO in DC and Macon, Ga. That's right GEICO folks in Macon, Ga, a lot of you who walked by Mr Haney had no idea he was musical royalty. Remember seeing/hearing him and Mr Gray (fine fiddle player) jamming at night when only the folks on the phone all night were there... He is not doing well now, could use your prayers come to think of it.

My grandmother is from Kentucky so i grew up with patsy,loretta, Johnny cash, and Ernest Tubb. Pasty was real, she never tried to hide who she was or where she came from! Great vlog Jordan!

Lloyd Bonafide Johnny Cash wasn’t a convicted felon. He never served time in a prison. He was guilty of misdemeanors which resulted in jail time. He held a concert in Folsom Prison.

Yes. He was arrested and stayed in jail on 7 occasions each time for only one night. So what do you know about Johnny Cash that I don't know?

Sweet Dreams was a great movie about Patsy Cline’s life. Jessica Lang did a wonderful job playing Patsy.
O my goodness, she did an amazing job. I was only like 8 when I saw it and I throughly enjoyed.
That particular movie was panned by Patsy's family and friends. The movie was not factual. Her loved ones consider the movie trash.

Loved Patsy Cline. As I approach my 70th birthday next month, I am still amazed that she has been a part of my life for so long. I was 13 when she lost her life. She influenced my own music style and I still feel sorrow over the loss of this great talent. You did a great job Jordan. Hope you will be able to stay at her dream home. Thank you so much. M. My grandma is 82 and she is that kind that didn’t like a lot of singers but she told me when she heard Patsy Cline she liked her.
Patsy has so many classic songs but my favorite has to be "Walking After Midnight".

Jordan this was great. We drove by the house a couple of years ago. We were in town to visit my dear friend Ray Walker of the Jordanaires who lives a few blocks away. As you know the Jordanaires backed Elvis for so many years. They were also the background singers on all of Patsy Cline's hits. He pointed us to her home. Ray said she was a wonderful person. She loved life and always had a smile on her face.
I've always loved Patsy Cline......thank you for taking us to the plane crash site.....I played "Sweet Dreams" while watching...it just seem to fit. I hope you do get to go back and stay at her house. 💐💔

most people would have read that "silence beyond this point" sign and just whispered or talked quietly, but i really really love that you had such respect to actually stay quiet even though there weren't any witnesses to know whether you were actually silent or not. respect is a big thing for me and my sister when we go to cemeteries. we always leave an offering (coins, food, little trinkets) at the last point (the grave/s closest to the enter/exit gates) and say thank you.
I'm from Winchester,VA where Patsy is from and the bar I go to is where she used to play it was the Orchard Inn ...it's now the Rainbow Road it's in the movie Sweet Dreams...my whole family has went there back to my great grandmother it's a family tradition...

My Mother was a Friend of Patsy , they went to school together . Mom is 90 yrs old now moved from Rancho Mirage , Palm Springs to Arizona . Still looking good she speaks very fondly of Patsy .

Some of those trees that are close to 2 ft. in diameter or more are the ones that were young trees when the plane went through there, the younger ones weren't even there at the time. My father-in-law was a Pasty Cline fan his two favorite songs were " Crazy" " I fall to Pieces "
If you are ever in the DC area take time to visit. 50 miles West to Winchester,VA to visit Patsy Cline’s childhood home. Her gravesite is also nearby where Loretta Lynn donated a memorial in her honor.
What a sad day this was for many. I't's important to remind everyone of how this Tribute trail is here for those who wish to visit and remember Patsy Cline, the her fellow passengers on this fated flight. I used to sing the song you ask for on stage.I'll do so to myself. Crazy.....Tears fill me with emotion.
Google the Crash..It says "Inexperienced Pilot" and The Weather Condition was terrible.. I've heard the same story for years...
I first discovered Patsy when I was 7 .I woke up one morning and heard the most beautiful voice and went down stairs and asked my Mother who it was and she said that's Patsy Cline and I was hooked. Mother had borrowed the records from a friend but I sneaked them upto my bedroom and played them and sang to them and I still have those records and im 59 and cherish them .I've cried my eyes out watching this , so sad but thank you for sharing this and hopefully I will visit this place and her dream house one day .❤
This vlog was a wonderful experience for me. Though sad, I have to say the crash site now seems a place of peace and a gives a feeling of deep serenity. I would love to sit on a bench by the Memorial and think about Patsy and how much I’ve enjoyed her songs over the years. Very special vlog, Jordan!

I visited the Country Music HOF back in 2013 and they had a Patsy Cline exhibit. On display was the clock from the plane that was frozen on the time of impact.
How beautiful that there is such reverence and peacefulness in a place of such an horrific event. ❤

Loretta and her where best friends. Loretta was pregant with her twins at the time. She named one of the twins patsy.
Her Loretta and Dottie west hung out alot at Dottie's house,. That's where Patsy met Willie Nelson. Dottie west was always letting new and upcoming male musicians live with her and husband bill west. Charlie told me many stories. And the movie sweet dreams was not an accurate account of their life. Charlie never beat Patsy and wasn't in jail ever. Back in 2003 I was in Nashville visiting and I called Charlie to let him know I was in town Him and Patsy's daughter Julie came and met me at the long horn steakhouse on music row for lunch. I'll never forget that. Charlie and Patsy's daughter Julie are very nice and always talk to Patsy's fans. In the movie Patsy says she liked yellow roses but in real life Charlie told me she loved red roses. So when I visited the crash site, I bought red silk roses,. I placed them at the cross's in 2015 but noticed on Jordans vlog that they were moved to the big rock
marianne jennisch actually Loretta was not pregnant with Peggy & Patsy when Patsy Cline died in March 5th 1963. Peggy and Patsy were not born until 14 months after on August 6th 1964. She was actually closer friends with Dottie West, True she and Loretta were friends, Patsy was showing her the ropes Loretta was new to the scene, and looked up to Patsy. But not best friends like the her movie depicts. Dottie had a heart of gold and taught the ropes to both Patsy and Loretta.
And the other was Peggy.
She didn't get preggers with the twins until early 1964..more than a year later.

Well he said he’s not too familiar with Loretta Lynn but those of us who were born probably pre-1980s are more familiar with her. I was born in the 60s and I was so excited when her movie came out with Sissy Spacek I watched that thing 1 million times I even have the VHS tape still in my room. Her story is pretty crazy some of the movie showed some incorrect information though because Loretta Lynn did state that she was cleaning her house when she found out that Patsy had died she wasn’t In bed with her husband as the movie showed.
Also there are several videos on CZcams talking about how her plantation is haunted
Texas Gina Coal Miner’s Daughter has to be one of the best biographies on film ever. When I was 11, my parents purchased me the “You Ain’t Woman Enough” album in the Ernest Tubb Record Shop. I knew most of the lyrics to several of the songs.

Loretta is hard to even get close to now as she has gotten older and has dealt with many health problems.Her twin girls,Peggy and Patsy ,are VERY protective of their mom and rightfully so. At one of Loretta's concerts (North Georgia Fair) about 10 years ago,i had brought with me her anthology cd box set and though the merchandiser was selling them,i had already purchased mine from the fan club. Anyway,after the show,i walked around to the side of the stage and just stood quietly and could see her bus was parked right behind the stage and knew that she had entered the bus after walking off stage at the end. After about 15-20 minutes of standing there,i was about to give up and leave. But this,i knew,would be my last chance to get the cd collection set signed and after about 3 or 4 more minutes,here comes Peggy and walked right up to me as i was the only one standing there and said,"honey,mom ain't coming back out to sign autographs but i have been watching you from inside the bus and you have been so quiet and patient. What can i get her to sign for you?" I gave her the booklet that held the cd collection and she took it inside the bus and Loretta opened the curtain and waved at me and blew me a kiss. Peggy came back out with the cd collection signed by her mom as well as Loretta's new cd (the one where she is standing on railroad tracks and is a cd full of duets with other female artists).

Thanks 🎶 My sister was a teen fan of Patsy's, that through a fortunate turn of events, became a friend of hers. Something of a younger sister. They corresponded & met during shows in the region, Patsy sending an invite and stage passes until this unfortunate accident .. 💙

I've always loved her music... such a sad story...love that they show respect by having silence... I didn't know how bad the plane broke up... wow so sad... I think her and Loretta where friends... I think it was in the movie Coal Miners Daughter...When passing throw Nashville we stopped at the Grand Ole Opry they said that they will be closing in 30 mins so if we don't mind you can go in and go any wheres... I stood on the stage this was before they cut the floor out... I stood there and thought that this is where Patsy Cline stood ... felt so spooky...

Thanks Jordan for making this vlog. She died one day after my wedding day which happened nine years later after her crash. I remember they included that sad moment in the Coal Miner’s Daughter movie starring Sissy Spacek. So many plane crashes involving famous people but their memories live on. ❤️🙏🏻

According to 'Coal Miners Daughter' Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline were great friends. When Loretta got pregnant the first time, Patsy gave her a big box of materity clothes. The story is so sad. Curious Jordan what a strange eerie feeling you get being at that site. I never knew patsy's true story about her death I'd only heard of her car accident. I loved her sound that youd hear on any watering hole bar jukebox. Thank you for honoring her memory and cant wait to see her home. She's a treasure of country music history!
Thank you for showing us where Patsy, and her bandmates' final moments were. So very sad, especially since she was so young, but it is an oddly peaceful, and a very beautiful spot. She was one of the people who inspired me to be a singer. I will never forget her, as I'm sure most of the world will not, either. Love you Patsy...

We spent hours listening to Patsy's records on Granny's old console stereo. I have been a lifelong fan. Thank you for this video Jordan, it holds very sentimental meaning to me.
it's funny that by our standards this is a very average middle-class home that you wouldn't look twice at, but to her it was a dream house. we think of legends as living in huge mansions, driving a fleet of cars, an army of servants at their beck and call, and surrounded by the best furnishings. it's great to see someone be humble.

Her last concert was at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. The building still stands and is in use. She had been in town for a benefit concert. Yes,I know the sign says Missouri but the actual building and airport are in Kansas City, KS. We get a lot of confusion between the two Kansas Cities. 600 N 7th Street Trafficway, Kansas City, Ks. is the address of Memorial Hall. The airport, Fairfax airport is no longer in existence.

Thank you so much for this vlog!! I was ten years old when Patsy died, but I remember it was deeply troubling. I had never really heard how horrific was the crash. Thanks for sharing this insight into one of the world's great voices.
Great job Jordon. Ironically one of the first people to go to the crash site that morning was country star Roger Miller. He was driving in that area that morning. Unfortunately Randy Hughs, the pilot, was not instrument rated on the plane. He called his wife in Nashville before taking off that evening, and she indicated that the weather was OK, however Nashville was in the "eye" of the storm at that time. Patsys wristwatch that she was wearing that night is on display at the Willie Nelson museum near the Grand Ole Oprey hotel. Its time is stopped at 6:30 PM. So sad, Patsys' voice will live on forever.

I was born the day of Patsy’s last concert, Sunday, March 3, 1963. I went to Nashville in 2015 and purchased a Hatch Show Print of her induction as the First Woman Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. I had it laminated and it hangs in my home office. I definitely feel connection with her. I certainly have read about the plane crash, but your vlog of the crash site really touched my heart. RIP Patsy.
Just on another side note; have you ever thought of doing a vlog on Jeff Porcaro? I would be interested in the different sound studios where he worked, his homes, his final resting place. I live in Canada and have never been to LA, but always enjoy your vlogs from there.

When I asked you in Pigeon Forge if you had stopped in Camden.. and you replied Yes... i was 10 shades of excited to see your take on her memorial. I spent a couple of years in Nashville after college and planned several times to visit the crashsite but unfortunately never got the opportunity because of work obligations. Couple of interesting facts I've discovered over the years; her manager Randy Hughes that was piloting the plane was in a hurry to get back to Nashville and had been keeping an eye on the weather ahead of them at every landing on their way back from the benefit. The report from the last airport where they landed had shown a small storm between their location and Nashville, so Randy expected to be able to fly around it. Unfortunately the skies grew dark and the storm grew larger...and Randy didn't have an instrument rating, he was a ground reference pilot (I know im probably not using the right terminology there.. apologies to anyone that reads this). Second interesting note.. a large section of one of the wings from their crashed plane wasnt accounted for until the early 2000's so I was told by a friend from the camden area. A local area farmer that was at the crashsite that night helped himself to that large section of wing and stored it away in the upper tiers of his barn.. it layed there forgotten for all those years only to be discovered by family members after his death. Thats the story that was told to me..who knows, but tbh...sounded believable to me at the time considering my source. Thanks so much for doing this. I'm 44 years old, but Patsy Cline's songs, her voice, that beautiful voice. Just imagine all the great music she could have given us had her life not been taken so soon. Thanks again. Enjoyed the video.

There's no other voice like Patsy Cline! I love all of her music, what a dynamic voice she had. When I sing karoke, I belt out "Crazy" but not like Patsy. Such a sad and tragic ending for all on board. There seems to have been quite afew country & rock stars that met their end in airplane crashes. Buddy Holly & the Big Bopper as well as our beloved Audie Murphy, too. Thank you, Jordan, for bringing Patsy to us today! God rest the souls of the artists aboard that plane.

Loretta Lynn wrote the song "This Haunted House" in that house after the crash. Someone else may have said this already and sorry for repeating it if they did. Just wanted to share. I enjoyed the vlog, Jordan. I've seen this site before on someone else's vlog, but I always prefer to watch you do something. You're so respectful and so good at story telling, and your personality shines through in every thing you do. I regularly start and stop so many other you tube vlogs because even though I want to see the subject of it, I can't handle the vlogger's way of doing it.
My mother and her grandfather were there at the crash site. They heard the crash and went looking for survivors.
They also have her home in Winchester setup as museum and memorial to her as well

I have toured her home in Winchester. It is sureal to stand in the house where she ate and slept and made plans for her career. On the dining room table are drawings Patsy made for her Mom to make dresses from. Patsy was very creative, and the drawings are quite good. Visiting Camden and staying in her home in Goodlettsville are on my bucket list!
I’m 77yo and was a fan of hers from the very beginning. One of the things I noticed at the crash site, most of the trees there are not what’s called “wittiness” trees. That means there were not there when Patsy was killed. They’ve grown since the crash, so the tree cover was not so thick as it is now. I remember the whole sad event and have been to Winchester to visit her actual gravesite. Make sure to leave a penny, looking up. It was so emotional I literally cried. Sweet Dreams Patsy!!!

I’ve watched Coal Miners Daughter sooooo many times & I Love it more every time Patsy passed before I was born , I’m a 64 model . But my mother & aunt listened to all the county gals music 🎶 So yes I’m very familiar 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Patsy had the best vocals I ever heard country!!!!! The trees where she died are mostly gone. All young trees grown where crash site is. thanks for going there in person and a shot of her house.
I was personal friends with Husband Charlie,. I am a huge fan of Patsy Cline , I contacted Charlie for an autograph photo of her back in 2002,. We talked once or twice a day , all the way up to a few months before he passed away, Charlie told me alot about Patsy,. She actually went by the name Ginny around her friends and family. Her name was Virginia,. Patsy was her stage name.

Love the song crazy even though it was first released before I entered this strange world that we live in now. Just a shame that Patsy and others had ended there lifes in such a horrible way. So sad. RIP.
