  • Gordon Goodwin (Bonita High School class of 1973) returned to his alma mater on March 17, 2024 to play a show with his grammy award winning Big Phat Band at the Bonita Center for the Arts.
The opening act was made up of an all district honor band with Gordon as the guest soloist. The students had big smiles on their faces and they sounded near professional themselves.

Then Gordon came out and played with his band and they did their usual tearing down of the house. He gave a touching tribute to his music teacher, Robin Snyder, and the band played the first song he ever wrote (as a 7th grader!).
As John Green recently said, “I don't need you to love [the same things as me]. I only need you to love something that brings you together with others whose love is pointing in the same direction." And that is what happened March 17 at the Bonita Center for the Arts.
It was a magical evening. Thanks Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band!
