Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most talked about games recently and its release date is just around the corner on February 10th (February 7th for deluxe edition pre order). But will this game live up to the hype and can it be a contender for Game of The Year 2023? Based on other games in the Open World RPG genre, certain elements can predict its success and that is what we discuss in this video. We talk about:

This game is compeating with some big games comming out this year so that will be hard to win Game Of The Year. Not impossible but very hard. I mean Starfield might come out. Baldurs Gate 3 is said to come out. Diablo IV is comming out. Non the less i hope this is soo good and that we have more of it in the future. I am buying the Deluxe and playting on the 7th, no work that day. GG One love and all that.
Yeah definitely going to have other great games out in 2023, dead space remake also going to turn some heads I think! I’ve also booked some time off work for the 7th lol!

I wonder if there is fire based spells in this game if so, I'll probably be a pyromancer. I only saw one in this video, but I hope there is more.
I hope there will be a couple spells revolving around the elements, I was thinking of an Aang playthrough at somepoint lol!

Given the basic use of elemental effects being an integrated part of gaming in this fashion wither it be the visuals to make combat look and feel authentic I would imagine that there is a viable way to focus on upgrading and or improving the effectiveness of pyro magic or water earth and wind in the same manner as most other RPG games but in a way that sticks to the established lore for the wizarding world

If the game relies to much on trying to be "child friendly", it will miss the mark. It needs to appeal to a generation that already grew up and are looking to go deeper into the HP lore. If you capture that audience, the kids will flock in droves.
I agree, definitely not expecting anything Witcher Level or Elden Ring level of dark but if it can capture some of the same intensity that the later HP films had, that would be great!
@@Radthar I agree. Sadly, hearing Harry Potter in the name of something tends to give out some "childish" fantasy vibes. If you are a HP fan, you know that is not entirely true but you are selling a video game and you need people to buy it and better yet, people to play it. If the game comes out to silly, it will be a fad with the HP name attached to it. In order to compete with thos staple giants (God of War, The Last Of Us, Legend of Zelda, Elden Ring) you need that story to pop,which we know HP can deliver and that gameplay to be challenging.
I'm thinking about buying it but we will see.

Game of the year depends on 3 things.
1. Fan base
2. Copies sold
3. Early year release
Hogwarts legacy has checked all boxes.
In game of the year voting system the huge hp fanbase will vote it goty.
This year no other games would coming out with a huge fan base. So there is less competition.
Hogwarts legacy already no1 selling game on steam ps5 xbox and amazon before its release. This crazy hype has happened after a long time.
So no matter what it will be the game of the year.
This makes a lot of sense tbh, so realistically, as long as the game doesnt completely flop and upset the fanbase, it should be good!

It’ll come down, as it usually does with RPGs, to story. Otherwise HL seems to have all the other ingredients: nice graphics, interesting combat, good customization
Well since this video, ive seen some devs say it takes 100-120hours to 100% complete which im very happy about, that should mean a lot of story to explore! Also thanks for all the love with my Hogwarts Legacy Videos, I appreciate you a lot!

Too much controversy behind the game could be a good game but I’m just not gonna buy it.
Yeah I know a lot of people are feeling that way. My personal stance is that a lot of good people worked on this game and I want to support them for the hard work they put in - but completely respect your opinion too
