My grandfather was headmaster of Ft. Orange when he came here in 1639. His line spawned so many things, I have found out so many unbelievable things.

Is there any building left from the Dutch period? The museumbuilding is not from that period, i think only one farmhouse prior to 1673

I'm a descendant of Wessel Wesselse Ten Broeck and Jan Thomaszen Eckerson. A lot of the names I hear about are distant relatives of mine, so this stuff is fascinating to me.

The surname my Dutch ancestors took after arriving in New Amsterdam, now New York City, in 1654 was Blaw (Blau, Blue, Blew).

beautifully done, this beautiful collection, buildings, museums and research institute brought together for visitors and scientists. I hope that students and students in and around New York will visit these locations, that the next generation will learn about this special part of the US and Dutch history.

That's great! The New York State Museum is located in Albany, NY only 2,5h from New York City by train. In New York City you can also to the Museum of the City of New York. In their "New York at its Core" exhibition you will find information about the Dutch in New York as well!
