      Where does it say in the Javelin lightning description, you don't attack with disadvantage upto 120 ft, it's still a javelin when you throw it, same rules apply, you throw with disadvantage for long range, all it says the lightning extends to 120 ft, which is the max range of the javelin.

    I would think that the Watchful helm would be a helm covered by living, blinking, "watchful" eyes, that would turn and look at things going on around them. it would probably be pretty creepy just to be around, always looking over peoples shoulders and getting interested in things that may not be polite to acknowledge

    I didn't play a DEXadin, but the one time I played a Paladin he picked up a Longbow from the first fight against bandits and I made more attack rolls with that Longbow using my +1 DEX instead of my sword. And we weren't running some stealth/never let them get near you game either. Fights were fair and our Sorcerer was also in melee most fights by choice (he also had incredible stats rolled but still). From a range my 6 Vengance Paladin/2 Grave Cleric was a bigger boon to the team with 2 nonmagical arrows a turn than I ever was trying to Smite with my +7 to hit Longsword attacks. And the 1 time our backline was jumped, they tried to jump a Paladin.

  • @aodhfyn2429
    @aodhfyn2429 Před rokem +1

    I've played a Dex Paladin. He was quite strong - not entirely because of being Dex focused though. 19 AC with chain mail, a shield, and the Marine fighting style. I could push it higher, but that usually worked for me. It helped to be dextrous for saving throws, but the main benefit is the high AC in numerous terrain. If you are playing a landlocked campaign without much variance, I don't think focusing dex on a paladin is necessarily that great.

    I'm playing a Dex paladin right now in Out of the Abyss. Potential Spoilers for OotA.
    Oath of the Watchers, Shadar-Kai, Alert Feat (same effect you mentioned with the Watchful Helm)
    - My party goes first
    - No ambushes
    - We got Dawnbringer, she's been an insane asset down there
    - +2 Studded Drow Armor
    - Blessing of the Raven Queen is an insane tanking ability.
    In this specific campaign, stealth and a high dex has let us avoid a lot of encounters early on a still proves useful. I love paladin's and its been a nice change of pace.

    In regards to the Devotee’s Censor healing enemies, being that healing is good aligned or positive based (I might be going by outdated knowledge from previous editions), wouldn’t that do damage to undead or demons and such instead of healing them? Or is that a DM discretion type of thing? I would understand if the enemies were anything but those two types but I would imagine it would help you and hurt them in those type of fights

    • @efrainlopez3782
      @efrainlopez3782 Před rokem

      I think regardless the healing is start of your turn so 1d4 would be enough to revivify your teammates and your basic attack would be more then enough to overcome 1d4 healing any enemies would recover so its a good trade off.

    I am playing a Dex Paladin and played one in the past.
    A long story but I run for Adventure league and one young player wanted to play a sailor paladin that warships a megalodon and this is what we came up with. The one I currently am playing is the Pirate/Privateer Background Oath of Ancients. He hunts down Pirates in the Saltmarsh Setting.
    As a new cabin boy when our ship was attacked only me and a Jr mate survived. As he was being set adrift he asked for water. The crew laughed tossing me over board to saying laws of the sea brat. As he was about to kill me for my blood a megalodon ate him whole losing a tooth in the place. This is when I was wishing doe a fish when a whip of water came forth lashing a fish. (the DM let me take Magical Initiate (Primal) for Guidance and Thorn Whip)
    I was found by a band of Sahuagin Raider I tried to stand up to them with the shark tooth. The Shaman stopped them and me claiming I was chosen by there God
    He looks half elf but that is the blessing or curse of Sekolah (Forgotten Realms) Sahuagin god of the hunt, Seas, and Sharks. I have the stats of a Water Genasi but his father was/is a Half Elf (Malenti a Sahuagin that is born looking like an Aquodic Elf).
    We have a Phantoms Warlock, Strom Harald Barbarian (Seas) and a human fighter with an armor of the mariner.

    Glory Paladins get Guiding Bolt as an Oath Spell. But notice the Amulet of the Devout doesn't specify only Cleric and Paladin spells benefit from the buff. So if you dip into another casting class, those spells get buffed as well.

    I don’t think adamantine armor can actually absorb a crit from a pariahs shield. The shield says that when your ally takes damage, you take the damage instead, not that the attack targets you.

  • @videogameunderappreciateda8174

    I thought plate armor added your dexterity to your ac so I played a dex based Paladin. My dm also thought dex added to ac, so that was fun. Though now that I know the truth, I probably won’t be playing a dex paladin again.

  • @kelderek4627

    Amulet of the Devout does not specify what kind of spells the bonus to attack works on, it just says "your spells", so it will work if you multiclass. My Hexblade-Paladin makes good use of this for Eldritch Blast for his ranged attacks. Don't underestimate the save DC bonus too since that is pretty hard to raise. It can help offset a STR based paladin who hasn't maxed out CHA yet when using saving throw spells against enemies.

I prefer to think that items look different from crafter to crafter.And if you show the picture to the character, then they know what they have if they have seen it before. Kind of spoils some mystery and takes a lot of the shine off identify.
