  • In this video I'm attempting to travel from Britain's Easternmost Station to Westernmost Station in just over 24 hours, but things don't quite go to plan! So will I eventually make it to the Westernmost Station?

    Another winner Mr. Wingate.The Sleeper looked more cramped than the older Mark III version, perhaps due to the added shower/toilet en suite. Saves sneaking down to the WC's at the end of the carriage in the middle of the night. The slow pan of Glenfinnan did justice to what is an astounding spot. Can I say I was there Pre-Potter. I hope time will allow you to explore The Far North Line a totally different beast often missed by the tourist. Perhaps there's a lot to say for that. None the less, anything north of Forsinard is crazy. Not a road to be seen, just railway till almost Georgemass Juncton and before that the stunning Flow Country that is Caithness and also home to rare wildlife. On to Thurso and the UK's most northerly station. Yet another rail trophy to collect.
    That's enough from me except thanks for yet another excellent Vid. Time well spent.

    Great video, some fabulous scenic views especially on the West Highland Line, the video brought some great memories flooding back that show my age! The last time I travelled on the Great Eastern, Norwich trains were hauled by 'silver' roof SF class 47s and trains to Ipswich and Harwich were likely to get a SF or MR class 31 or 37, the West Anglia line was SF 47s or SF/MR 37s, further north on the WHL it was usually Class 26/27 or 37s - that really shows the vast difference on the Railway as the years have advanced! But I am not going to make the statement as to which was/is the better of the eras, we all have our own opinion on that! Finally, again, great video, I enjoyed all the content and will definitely be looking out for more from you!
    Best Wishes, Tim.

    Great vid I'm a Conductor based at Norwich for GA. Looks like you had a fun trip. Saw 3 of my workmates on there! Oh dear and ended on a 156. Which the 755's replaced. I don't miss them! And I've edited this because I forgot to add I'm from Lowestoft and we want our rock back, we have been looking for that!

      @RailwaySecrets  Před 2 měsíci

      Unfortunately it’s not, and at first I thought that, but Penzance is 5.53W and Arisaig is 5.83W.

      @@RailwaySecrets fair enough, I love your videos, how do you use that map thing to see what you covered?

    • @RailwaySecrets
      @RailwaySecrets  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I created the map myself and animated it in after effects

    Would it not have been easier to get following trains: Lowestoft - Norwich. Norwich to Manchester. Manchester to Glasgow. Glasgow - Fort William & Fort William - Arisaig. No need at all to go anywhere near London and also far faster. Or Lowestoft - Norwich, Norwich - Peterborough, Peterborough - Edinburgh, Edinburgh - Glasgow, etc, etc..... You really seem not to have researched this very well at all.

      In all fairness I knew that would had been quicker but, it wasn’t until I booked the sleeper train that I came up with this video. But thanks for the advice.
