One of the quirky things about Ableton live is importing audio. In this video I walk you through two ways to import stems and make sure they are lined up right. Once you wrap your head around this behavior it is no problem! Let me know if this helps.
Dudeeee this was so clear and easy to follow. Been trying to figure this out for so long (I'm a beginner). Thank you!!
Lifesaver! I've been using Ableton for years, but only recently with stems. Yesterday I spent an hour trying to get 4 tracks to line up. Now it takes 1 minute :) Thank you
Very helpful, thank you, Lucas! Love your setup, how straight to the point the video was, and the fact there were no obnoxious 'CZcamsr' moments.
As a newbie to Ableton, I'm sure I'll be referencing your channel often!
Happy New Year, too:)
I am a Ableton veteran I did not know why this was happening!
Thanks for this
Just save me 1 billion years of frustration. Thank you!
cheers for your help Lucas! knew it was gonna be a winner a soon as i saw the floor rug!
Can't believe I didn't know this. Thanks so much!
after 2 years I decided to look this up finally lol thank you man!
Glad you did thank you!
You my man, are a life saver... thank you
Happy to help!
Thank You Lucas
Super helpful, you solved my problem within seconds. Keep it up!
Awesome thank you!!
Absolute legend!
Thanks!!
thanks a lot man I was really struggling with this
Glad I could help!
I never had this problem on logic or protools but when I record vocals it’s so hard to lay doubles when my shit sounds like it don’t lay on each other I been going crazy trying to get em to line up
Hey, that’s not normal at all. When you record vocals and everything is set correctly it shouldn’t really matter if you’re using logic or ableton.
@@LucasMessore tell me about it, idk what it could be because I’m in college for this and some songs line up better than others. But I use protools to record vocals I only use ableton and logic to make beats
Thanks, this was very helpful.
This helped me thanks!
great info, how do i keep the bpm true to the OG track though ? for some reason even when i change the individual tracks and the master tempo to 123 (for example) it doesnt fit the grid correctly ?
Hey thanks! Make sure warp is turned off on all tracks. also make sure all tracks start at the correct time (sometimes there is a lag in stems and the downbeat comes in late).
@@LucasMessore yeah warp is off, the track (beats) just dont sit on the grid properly
@@UK1stAD for sure, either they are not lined up correctly or your tempo is wrong (or it changes tempo)
I have the same problem like main post. I disabled autowarp in settings, i disabled create fades. I drag files in to project with Ctrl and my drums start from 3.0.2 , not from 3.0.0. Stems from reaper, and then i try to use this stems in reaper - it`s perfectly correct. What happening in ableton? Is this problem still actual in Ableton 12? I`m 11 user@@LucasMessore
I went to preference, turned off the warp feature, drug in a track giving to me that I'm suppose to play too. They track I recorded is not in time with the track I imported and it's showing up as warp. I turn warp off for that track and play back and it's still not in time. Any help appreciated.
There's a couple different warp settings to adjust, so if turning off Long Samples did not work check out the other ones. Are your project and the imported track at the same bpm? If so you can leave them unwarped but you may need to drag it a bit in the clip editor to adjust the start time so that it lines up. You can do that in the timeline as well. If they are not at the same BPM you would need to warp the new imported audio track to fit to the project. It takes some practice and experience to do this. I will make more warping tutorials in the next few weeks!
Also, will do my best to try to help in the comments, but if you need personalized & focused help, would love to direct you to my website www.lucasmessore.com to book a lesson over Zoom :)
thx...
Broooooo....that little flag you dragged....that's what I was missing. GOD, Ableton tries to be too smart if you let it. Would be cool if someone knows what the Shortest "Long" sample is that Ableton recognizes as a "Long Sample"
Yeah, not sure on that one but it's pretty good with it. For the most part I like my one shots unwarped, drum loops/general loops warped, and stems unwarped and it's usually on point.
