Got one of the last M140i's new in March, nearly decided to wait for this M135i, glad I didn't. I like this new car though but it does sound like an appliance, kinda leaf blower meets food blender.

Same too, got mine in May. Probably one of the very last M140i's to be sold in Scotland. The performance puts my neighbours M2 to shame.

My 2019 Hyundai i30N Performance is 4 weeks old, has GPF filter and complies to all new emissions. It is 4 cylinder 2 litre turbo, and sounds like an absolute thunder going through tunnels. It pops and bangs and screams. Some manufacturers care about making fun cars still, sadly BMW has become a corporate bullshit organisation, and this is coming from a mega BMW fan (I had E92 M3, E46 M3, 2x 335i and an E30 320i).

fun fact car and truck emissions do not actualy polute the earth. yeah i know they tecnicaly do but do you know how little that is? 15 of the largest ships in the world alredy polute more than all cars and trucks togheter. i think its time to kick out the retarded politicians around the world and get people that actualy do diffarance rather than force car manufacturers to try to lower the emissions of somthing that does barely any polution att all. make a law against buying a new phone every year and make it a 3year waiting period before you are allowed to buy the next. that law whould allredy cut down on polution more than any car or truck could ever do

Finally getting proper engine-controlled ESP from manufacturers... This has been just an obvious way to solve things like traction control, don't know why it took so long.
Took delivery of one of these last few week, performance is brilliant and a real head turner, many comments on how nice it is. Sounds amazing now engine and exhaust worn in a little. Love the channel and content

The moment i do a cold start on my 2014 m135i (with MP exhaust) i think i'm in heaven when hearing this new m135i.
Oh well, will keep my e46 330ci daily, and going to get a 5 year old vert 640i with M Performance exhaust for happy days. So much more soul than these new 'appliances' and available for peanuts these days lol!

AutoTopNL I wanted to ask some advice if i may. I have had various BMW M-sports for around 15years now and I am in the process of getting rid of my 2series coupe for an AWD car. I wanted to ask if you had a choice (coming from my background of RWD fast BMW's) between the new M135i and the new Clubman JCW, which would you choose for the most fun & enjoyment and would you be happy without the BMW badge on the nose if you chose the mini?
I have watched both your M135i & Clubman JCW reviews and other reviews and most say the mini is more fun and the bmw is more refined. I was a bit concerned with how twitchy the M135i was at high speed, whilst the mini seemed planted. But i'm concerned about the mini build quality.
Hi. Did you find out why the car was unsettled at high speed? The reason I ask is my BMW G30 530i M sport does exactly the same thing once crossing 200km/h it feels like rear suspension is bouncing and need to correct the driving path all the time except on the bend then its fine.

No they made the 1-Series interesting for more people, they will sell even more than before so they did NOT screwed it up

yeah the only 1series anyone actualy gave a fuck about was the 135i e82/ 1M. any other 1series was boring. if you whant a small sports car you get the 2series bmw. allso in this small package the I4 is allot beter beacus of weight and size. they actualy made the 1seires beter now compared to the old M135i
No they did not screw it. The most sold 1series were 116 and 118. People which are buying that engine doesnt care for rear wheel drive or inline 6
they want a reliable car with low fuel cost.
So why build a heavier and more expensive car for people who dont need that?
sure maybe not everyone likes the new 135i, but this 1series was not built for the 135i, because almost no one bought it.
It seemed to be moving around all over the place on the Autobahn. I wonder why that is?

A fast 1 series needs an inline 6, there's no way around it. My next car will be a 130i for sure.

I suspect that that wander at high speeds is caused by the air ducts on the front. That front bumper looks so weird to me. If that creates some sort of weird airflow around the front tires I would not be surprised.

This is NOT a 140i, this is a new car entirely and please wait until the Next and hopefully soon New BMW 140i to be launched before comparing the old beauty.

I think BMW was to apologetic with the implementation of the 4 pot in this car, they made it quiet because they knew people wouldn't like the sound compared to the 6 cyl. What they should have done is taken a page from MINI and put an epic stock exhaust on the car that makes the 4 cyl more fun and less serious, the B48 can sound awesome and give a lot more character to the car when given the chance, I know this because I removed the resonators on my 230i and began to enjoy the car a lot more after that.
Interior - Fantastic. Exterior - Lacklustre and looks like an MPV. Engine - WTF were BMW thinking!?

Wouldn't get that grip on launching the M140i without the rear end kicking out. In comparison with this M135i, the M140i is just pure brutal. Better than the RS3 and the A45 AMG by far but the traction on this M135i is alot more grippier than the M140i. One upside is how easy it is to get in and out of this new shape compared to the old shape, it's too low down for access for my liking.
Well, everywhere out of the UK you could buy the xdrive M140i, you did know that do you? I eat this 135i for breakfast with my xdrive.
