There’s a chance we could witness a supernova within our lifetimes. There’s historical records indicating some ancient people actually experienced this too.

8:18 as an astronomy major in college I can’t wait for Betelgeuse to blow up, not only will it be brighter than a full moon but bright enough to be seen in the daytime. Unfortunately by astronomy standards any day now means tomorrow or 1,000 years

Betelgeuse is in the constellation of Orion 'The Hunter' which is visible in the northern hemisphere starting in September through the winter. This time of year it rises around 3AM and sets well after sunrise. Betelgeuse is the star that represents Orion's right shoulder (if he was looking at you). Look for the 3 distinctive stars that make up Orion's Belt and you will make out Betelgeuse up and to the left of the belt as a reddish star. It's one of my favorites as it I found it not long after identifying The Big Dipper (aka Ursa Major) as a kid. Even near a city suburb it's bright enough to see if you can see 50 or more stars in the night sky. Look it up online so you know what you're looking for and then go outside in the early morning and look up facing east. And like it it's always said... you can't miss it! (And you're missing out if you do!) 😏 BTW, when Betelgeuse goes supernova, it's very likely we'll see it during the day much like we can see the moon during the day, but no where near as large, just bright. I keep hoping it'll happen in my lifetime so I might see it!

Would love to see you react to much more corridor crew videos especially them reacting to good and bad cgi and stunts too. Cheers and keep up the great work.

i love these dudes, you should react to more. anything would be a good choice. as someone very interested in UFOs, some of my fav videos are when they debunk fake UFO videos. they also hit fake ghost videos and bigfoot videos
they'll also go through good/bad CGI and explain why it's so noticeably bad sometimes, redo bad CGI scenes, create those satisfying video animations, there's a lot of great stuff on their channel

Michael the Mike- "One Pound Fifty" Blokerson the 5th (idk taking some artistic liberty designing your made up name haha) youre the sort of Bloke one actually wants to work with. You don't know it all(nobody likes a know it all lol) but you're always learning and probably are one of the most dependable coworkers - I just wanted to let you know, you're one heck of a cool dude Sir lol Dave and Daz, tip of the cap to you two. But Daz, I thought you were on vacation / on the run from the run from the yakuza lol you should do a patreon post and tell us how the trip went ! Always looking to learn about the world from people who have been places and you said you’ve lived all over even! Just saying. Finally, Dave, saw your other channel has been posting a lot , appreciate the extra work with Ash enjoy the Sunday 🎉!

When Betelgeuse goes it will be like having a second moon. It won’t outshine the sun and they think it might go soon

i always find it weird when people say "when Betelgeuse goes super nova". Betelgeuse is more than 400 light years away, so its not when Betelgeuse goes super nova, it's did Betelgeuse go super nova. Because it would take 400 years from it going nova until we know about it.

I enjoyed it and it was a fun educational, easy for everyday people to understand video. However its title is a bit misleading.. I mean at the end yes, we feel very small, but the video isn't in any way talking about the true scale of the universe - just about planet size comparisons. ^^ Guess I hoped for a bit more, like how far are the planets away, how many times around the earth would it take at that scale, stuff like that. Oh well, maybe in another one. ;)

I think we're still unsure about what Betelgeuse going supernova means for Earth except that it's not expected to negatively impact us on Earth in a major way due to its distance. But in terms of what we'd see, we're not sure still, with opinions varying. In fact, recently there had been some who thought Betelgeuse had already gone supernova or was going to imminently due to light fluctuations, but the general consensus is now that those fluctuations are something less severe. But the fact we didn't even know for sure if Betelgeuse had gone supernova yet tells you how little we know about how bright it may actually be to us when it does.

This is one of the rare times Daz got things wrong. We did NOT travel very far. Our broadcasting waves got kind of far but not really far at all even in our own galaxy's perspective, and our "spaceships" didn't get nearly as far. Our knowledge from space... most of it wasn't achieved from reaching far. It was from seeing light that got to us FROM very far away. We didn't get "the news", the news got to us.

This video compared the various sizes of stars all of which are absolutely miniscule compared to the size of our galaxy, let alone the universe. Very misleading title.
