The thing people don't realize about Bauer is the replacement warranty. This is not a manufacturer quality warranty this is a replacement warranty. They don't care why you want another or what happened. You can smash it in the parking lot and walk in and get a new one. They are cheap, last 2 years and YES you can get another for the one you just replaced. Basically you get another tool every 2 years for $13 (not sure what I paid) after initial purchase. It's a no brainer. If your Dewalt, Makita, Milwaukee falls off a ladder and breaks...tough shit not covered. If you don't have your receipt they won't honor any warranty. HF puts it in their system all you have to give them is your phone number. I work professionally in a shop and love the tools. I work them hard and 1 thing I am never scared of is someone stealing them lol. If I forget to put it away it's going to be in the same place tomorrow lol.

I picked up the 1/4" Bauer impact driver to build a deck and its been amazing. I ended up needing my old skill saw and decided that it to needed to be upgraded so tomorrow I'll be picking up a new 6" Bauer skillsaw and 3amp battery. I'm Thrilled to be cutting the cords for my home owner projects. Thank you for giving us real reviews on the Bauer tools. And keep us informed as the line changes. Fingers crossed that Harbor Freight keeps the Bauer brand for a long time.
I think people point to the sale prices on Milwuakee tools, which can sometimes be pretty low, but I think the big difference is the prices of batteries. Sure you can get a kit with two batteries, but then when you go to buy that third or fourth battery, or a high capacity battery, that's when you end up really shoveling out the dollars. For me just like you, it's a huge thing to be able to afford more tools and batteries. It's really given me a lot more ability to do things around the house by having my bauer tools.
Oh for sure, but even outside of that, like you can get a Drill/Driver and Impact with 1.5ah batteries (in Home Depot and just saw the deal as I write this) for $150. Christmas deal of course. You’d spend almost the same to buy both Drill/Driver and Impact kits from Harbor Freight (about $120 I think). I also saw a deal for like 6 tools, a charger, and two batteries (I think a 1.5 and a 3.0 ah) for like $500 and that’s a good deal too. That being said, you’d have to spend $500 right then and there, and then to get any additional tools, your not getting an deals on them. So the common “kit tools” might come pretty close to Bauer but as soon as you want some unique or job specific tools, you’re going to really pay them there. And then of course the whole battery issue you described too.

I'd probably look at Craftsman, Ryobi, or another discount brand. With the usage level if my tools, it's pretty unlikely within the first year or two that I would need the warranty. So paying extra isn't likely to pay off for me, I'd rather have the extra tools I have with the money I saved.
Its the batteries for sure. I was debating buying ego or atlas trimmer. Now I'm in now way saying they're equal trimmers. But that ego battery cost.....
I was strictly a DeWalt fan....and then.....I could not keep batteries that were any good for very long. I bought a bunch of the original batteries until they started dieing too damn quick. I went to the off brand of theirs, and pretty much the same thing. These were 18v batteries. I now have nothing but Bauer 20v tools now, and I love em so far. I'm mostly a do it yourself guy and they are perfect for what I do. Until something drastic happens I will stick with them.
Great video. I am sold on the Bauer line up. I have been using them in my garage and have had zero issues so far. The deal on 5 amp batteries was hard to pass up so I have 3 now. The 1.5 amp battery that I have found a home running my work light. I feel like that’s the perfect fit for such a small battery. Thanks again for your videos.

It’s funny you talk about the Milwaukee sawzaw, I’m 17 and looking for just some basic power tools for around our farm, but my dad is an electrician, but worked at a campground, and had a Milwaukee sawzaw, and he was in trenches installing pipe for the campsites, and he used it under muddy water daily, and when we got home, he would just power wash it, lol and he still has it today, and that was 2-3 years ago.
You can’t beat Milwaukee (generally) in terms of performance and quality, but you just have to pay so much for it, it’s hard to justify the expense when other tools get the job done for a whole lot less. That’s where I landed. But if you’re in the trades, Milwaukee is the way to go I think.
Just bought my first Bauer tool (1/2" impact) because I couldn't see buying the Dewalt when it's something I don't use that often. So far I don't see myself switching over completely but most likely I'll start buying Bauer for the tools that are going to see light use and stick to Dewalt for tools that will get heavy use.
I actually have some of the Hercules line of tools, but lately it's like they're coming out with more brushless Bauer stuff that is just as good if not better than the Hercules. Plus there's more tools to choose from with Bauer compared to Hercules as well. I think I'm going to sell all my Hercules stuff in favor for Bauer because I have a feeling that HF is neglecting the Hercules line and going to axe it in the near future.
Even a pro could appreciate this as a stop gap or starting out the string trimmer took out pinky finger size waist high weeds about an hour and half straight still had half 5ah left ran out of gas and string went to hf next to gas glad I went into hf first no more drips of gas on my shoes smell gets everywhere since gas makes my kid feel sick every time he gets a scent of gas turns green he loves to help so this has made his day and mine now I can sip a lemonade and watch lol😎
I have a few bauer tools. Drill, impact, leaf blower, and weedeater. I enjoy them and my work isn't incredibly demanding. I plan on upgrading power tools soon but also plan to grab a couple more batteries for the bauer leaf blower and weedeater because I live on a quarter acre and they do me just fine there.
The 1.5AH battery is terrible on most of the tools I've tried it on. Just burns through the charge super fast. I bought 2 of them and won't be buying more. I have a few 5AH and those are definitely nice, but for me, I have found the 3AH to be the sweet spot. I love my Milwaukee tools as well, but I just can't afford the high prices. With Bauer I can buy more variety for my money. Thanks for the review.
thanks for the review. Good information here. I just bought the small chainsaw and it's my first from the Bauer line. Why did I buy a small, cordless chainsaw? I needed something for my ATV and occasionally camping. I own 2 gas chainsaws, but it can be 2 years or more between needing one and I am just tired of gas powered occasionally used tools. I actually wanted the Atlas 80V saw, but the Atlas line is only making large tools. i don't need those as much as I need small tools and don't want to invest in multiple tool lines. Like everything from HF, know what you're buying, set reasonable expectations, and remember what you're paying for them. I don't expect a $20 set of HF wrenches to compete with my snap-on sets, nor did I pay snap-on prices for them.
I had my 1.5ah crap out within a month and i babied it. Just with occasional use. I got a brand new 5ah off of ebay for 40 bucks and have had it for a year and its been great.
Exactly 49- 59$ impact can't beat it 90 days at least you know you can get quite a few more tools than Milwaukee or ryobi139$ ryobi burnt up before any of my 10 year old b&d set. Bauer is a good idea for any diy or homeowner car owner that knows a thing or 2😎
I actually do use Bauer tools for my business, just not for the everyday heavy tasking stuff. Although the impact driver i do use daily, but not for heavy duty applications. For heavy duty stuff i go with better tools. That's how I'm able to get premium quality without the need to go ALL-IN on premium tools and without spending a fortunen on those tools either
Bauer tools are great and have great prices; you can't go wrong with their lineup of essential tools: saw drill, impact hex, grinder, and cored tools. Here's the biggest tip I can give for ALL batteries, no matter the brand. Store the batteries fully charged! Even if you only use the tool for 10 minutes, charge the batteries before storage!

I would like to add that with regards to the extra 2yr warranty that Harbor Freight offers, the tool can be returned for ANY reason within that 2yr period. I myself will write the purchase date on my Harbor Freight power tools and return them to the store before the 2yr expiration, and I get a new one. Even if there was nothing wrong with the tool that I returned. A friend of mine lives off of the grid, and he powers his house with a Harbor Freight generator. He always gets the extra 2yr warranty, and every 2 years he returns it and gets a new one for free. If you ask me, that extra 2yr warranty is well worth the price.
I use 1.5ah's in things like lights and drills. 3ah's are your mini vacuums, 5ah's are your grinders /saws. I want the damn brad nailer in stock! lol I'm still waiting on the oscillating multitool and surface conditioner. One day...
I keep 2 batteries at my apartment in a nice 70 degrees with a drill from random little apartment projects like a little chair I fixed up for Christmas, but the rest of my batteries stay in a cold unit and they run just as fine as the others. While I know it’s not good for them I just wish I could have a grouse with a garage and a dedicated spot in my laundry room just for batteries.
I actually think the Bauer tools are the best FOR THE MONEY because yeah Milwaukee and Dewalt and all of them I'm sure are better but they're 3 or 4 or 5 times more expensive so you get what you pay for but I would rather buy 3 or 4 or 5 different tools in the Bauer line than just 1 from Milwaukee or whatever!
Since you're such a big fan of the Bauer tools as I am but you actually put out a lot of videos on them so they should send you a bunch of their tools for free because I know they send a lot of the other CZcams guys free tools so I think you deserve some as well man since you use their tools and you speak the truth in all these videos and I believe you help Harbor Freight sell their Bauer line with your honesty but that's just my 2 cents I guess!
Yeah I have 1 8ah Bauer 20v battery and the increase in power as you get bigger battery packs is definitely significant and when the 12ah battery comes out which I think is already out but it's not on their website yet but I heard it's in the stores already I most likely will just get 1 of them also just to have and compare because I have a bunch of the 5ah and several 3ah and 1 of the 1.5 from a kit deal but when the new big 12ah hopefully has a deal where you get a good free tool I'll probably get 1 of them and I have each of the chargers that you have plus I have the double charger that actually even charges faster and charges 2 batteries at once which is pretty awesome and they even have a charger where you can charge 6 batteries at once but I believe they only charge 1 at a time back to back which could be cool but I think the fast double charger that I have is probably good enough and I think I got it free in a deal or something like that so that's cool.
Driers, heaters, microwave...anything with heating takes a lot of energy. Just look into solar generators, and you will realize that your battery will run into the thousands in order to run them.
Dude, I've bought those "HERCULES" tools, in the beginning, but at that time. they didn't have ANY CHARGERS, and didn't KNOW ANYTHING about "WHEN" > or "IF" they're going to be getting them. So, I've turned them back in, and changed it for the "BAUER", now, I'm screwed. I've got ALL Bauer.
I about to by the Bauer airless battery powered paint sprayer 2mwr & see how it works painting doors. The Gracco sprayer is $750 with 2 Dewalt batteries witch I all Dewalt tools don't need more batteries Baures $200 no batteries I also found a battery adapter for Dewalt batteries for Bauer tools I might try. Dewalt batteries are unafordable by themselves your basically forced to by a tool that comes with a battery I almost bought a Letheli DVLP sprayer but doesn't come with a battery you have to order it I don't want to wait so I think try the Bauer one it looks more similar the Gracco brand that is the market leader. I'm curious I wish I could find a review of it Online I think it's relatively new though so if I buy one I'll let you know how it works.
I just have the Bauer angle grinder and have some issue with putting the battery onto the tool. I havent looked into it much but just seems to stick before it clicks. Then taking it off it is just as tight. Have you have any problems like this?
How they holding up now? Update video? I currently has the old 18 V DeWalt system. They’ve held up for a long time the batteries where they get you. I’ve gotten some knock off ones from Amazon but just not pleased with those. Debating on dropping 500 bucks on a new combo kit or getting to the Bauer line. By the tools when I need them I’m no longer in the trades.
Man, I’m happy with them. I don’t want to over sell them to you. They are a high quality DIY brand or a lower quality Prosumer brand. Not a pro brand. But they work really good for what they cost.
want a 1 year warranty? use a credit card to purchase. Most have free 1 year warrantees. you'll probably need to repurchase the item while you are waiting, but HF will refund up to 3 months, right? enough time for the money or replacement to arrive from the credit card company. This is just an idea... anyone out there actually do this?
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects one gotcha is that they ask for a serial number for the item that is being repaired or replaced. So these days now whenever I buy something I just take photos of the box and any serial number or UPC code that I can find.
Not always true. My Milwaukee 6 AH high output batteries get completely drained and rapid charged every single day in a 10 hour window. They've been going through this for 3 years and still hold a perfect charge :)
Not really the case with lithium batteries, they can take high Amp charges without damage. The faster chargers are simply supplying higher amperage. The bauer fast charger is 3 amps, so a 6 ah battery will charge from empty in about 2 hours. It's simple math with lithium batteries due to their low resistance.
@@j.r.576 Anything over 1C charging will damage the battery. The amount depends on how high over 1C. If They go past 2C, they are 1000% being damaged. From LI-PO to LI-ION it doesn’t really matter.

The practical limits are not part of this topic at all. Also my example as described is correct nevertheless unless you want to argue the specs as given by Bauer tools.
I don't know how anyone in good conscience would suggest that namebrand tools are "cheaper". In what universe and where? Return parts of the kits? What? Kits are sold together. They are not sold in parts. Lowes for example puts everything together in one box, not in pieces like harbor freight does where you could buy in parts. And with box stores even if they do sell a box of this and a box of that... it spells out in the receipt what the price was so you are not going to buy, then return and somehow come out ahead. Unless you already have like a zillion of whatever you are buying... this kit purchase is of no practical use to an average person. I have never ever never ever never seen any name brand tools (even on sale) come anywhere close to what HF charges and guess what... when bauer tool breaks... you go and buy another bauer tool and then it breaks again and you buy another and then it breaks and only on 4th time you "break even" vs something like dewalt. I have both dewalt and bauer and umm.... I am kicking myself in the teeth for being duped in the first place to buy once cry once with dewalt. Could have bought entire bauer line by now for a third of the cost of my dewalt tools.

I just bought their 450 ft lb cordless, brushless driver and the $129 1000 ft lb impact wrench and it is a beast!

Dropped a 5ah battery and the drill in my pool while I was redoing the decking. let it dry for a day and have been using them both since

They now make a 5 amp hour battery for about $60 or so. I recommend getting the biggest battery available because you can run any tool Bauer makes.

Ya it’s seriously a great tool line for it. If you can stomach the color, the Ryobi stuff is usually similarly priced and half decent quality too.

That's make sense with the batteries and their purposes. I'd say 1.5s do work good for lights.

I actually think the Bauer tools are the best FOR THE MONEY because yeah Milwaukee and Dewalt and all of them I'm sure are better but they're 3 or 4 or 5 times more expensive so you get what you pay for but I would rather buy 3 or 4 or 5 different tools in the Bauer line than just 1 from Milwaukee or whatever!
Since you're such a big fan of the Bauer tools as I am but you actually put out a lot of videos on them so they should send you a bunch of their tools for free because I know they send a lot of the other CZcams guys free tools so I think you deserve some as well man since you use their tools and you speak the truth in all these videos and I believe you help Harbor Freight sell their Bauer line with your honesty but that's just my 2 cents I guess!

Yeah I have 1 8ah Bauer 20v battery and the increase in power as you get bigger battery packs is definitely significant and when the 12ah battery comes out which I think is already out but it's not on their website yet but I heard it's in the stores already I most likely will just get 1 of them also just to have and compare because I have a bunch of the 5ah and several 3ah and 1 of the 1.5 from a kit deal but when the new big 12ah hopefully has a deal where you get a good free tool I'll probably get 1 of them and I have each of the chargers that you have plus I have the double charger that actually even charges faster and charges 2 batteries at once which is pretty awesome and they even have a charger where you can charge 6 batteries at once but I believe they only charge 1 at a time back to back which could be cool but I think the fast double charger that I have is probably good enough and I think I got it free in a deal or something like that so that's cool.
I've been wondering when Bauer is going to come out with cordless kitchen appliances like a mixer, blender, can opener and maybe even a toaster.
Driers, heaters, microwave...anything with heating takes a lot of energy. Just look into solar generators, and you will realize that your battery will run into the thousands in order to run them.

Dude, I've bought those "HERCULES" tools, in the beginning, but at that time. they didn't have ANY CHARGERS, and didn't KNOW ANYTHING about "WHEN" > or "IF" they're going to be getting them. So, I've turned them back in, and changed it for the "BAUER", now, I'm screwed. I've got ALL Bauer.
Why did you buy Bauer instead of Hercules?

I about to by the Bauer airless battery powered paint sprayer 2mwr & see how it works painting doors. The Gracco sprayer is $750 with 2 Dewalt batteries witch I all Dewalt tools don't need more batteries Baures $200 no batteries I also found a battery adapter for Dewalt batteries for Bauer tools I might try. Dewalt batteries are unafordable by themselves your basically forced to by a tool that comes with a battery I almost bought a Letheli DVLP sprayer but doesn't come with a battery you have to order it I don't want to wait so I think try the Bauer one it looks more similar the Gracco brand that is the market leader. I'm curious I wish I could find a review of it Online I think it's relatively new though so if I buy one I'll let you know how it works.
I left my battery outside in the rain. And instantly trashed. Other then that, they work fine.

I got one of my batteries wet using it on the weed sprayer. I took it apart and cleaned the water out and it came back to life.

I just have the Bauer angle grinder and have some issue with putting the battery onto the tool. I havent looked into it much but just seems to stick before it clicks. Then taking it off it is just as tight. Have you have any problems like this?

How they holding up now? Update video? I currently has the old 18 V DeWalt system. They’ve held up for a long time the batteries where they get you. I’ve gotten some knock off ones from Amazon but just not pleased with those. Debating on dropping 500 bucks on a new combo kit or getting to the Bauer line. By the tools when I need them I’m no longer in the trades.
Man, I’m happy with them. I don’t want to over sell them to you. They are a high quality DIY brand or a lower quality Prosumer brand. Not a pro brand. But they work really good for what they cost.

want a 1 year warranty? use a credit card to purchase. Most have free 1 year warrantees. you'll probably need to repurchase the item while you are waiting, but HF will refund up to 3 months, right? enough time for the money or replacement to arrive from the credit card company. This is just an idea... anyone out there actually do this?

@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects one gotcha is that they ask for a serial number for the item that is being repaired or replaced. So these days now whenever I buy something I just take photos of the box and any serial number or UPC code that I can find.

Not always true. My Milwaukee 6 AH high output batteries get completely drained and rapid charged every single day in a 10 hour window. They've been going through this for 3 years and still hold a perfect charge :)
Not really the case with lithium batteries, they can take high Amp charges without damage. The faster chargers are simply supplying higher amperage. The bauer fast charger is 3 amps, so a 6 ah battery will charge from empty in about 2 hours. It's simple math with lithium batteries due to their low resistance.
@@j.r.576 Anything over 1C charging will damage the battery. The amount depends on how high over 1C. If They go past 2C, they are 1000% being damaged. From LI-PO to LI-ION it doesn’t really matter.
@blicky. you are addressing a technicality which I did not state one side or the other of. The statement that lithium batteries can be charged at higher amperage is true. The practical limits are not part of this topic at all. Also my example as described is correct nevertheless unless you want to argue the specs as given by Bauer tools.
I don't know how anyone in good conscience would suggest that namebrand tools are "cheaper". In what universe and where? Return parts of the kits? What? Kits are sold together. They are not sold in parts. Lowes for example puts everything together in one box, not in pieces like harbor freight does where you could buy in parts. And with box stores even if they do sell a box of this and a box of that... it spells out in the receipt what the price was so you are not going to buy, then return and somehow come out ahead. Unless you already have like a zillion of whatever you are buying... this kit purchase is of no practical use to an average person.
I have never ever never ever never seen any name brand tools (even on sale) come anywhere close to what HF charges and guess what... when bauer tool breaks... you go and buy another bauer tool and then it breaks again and you buy another and then it breaks and only on 4th time you "break even" vs something like dewalt.
I have both dewalt and bauer and umm.... I am kicking myself in the teeth for being duped in the first place to buy once cry once with dewalt. Could have bought entire bauer line by now for a third of the cost of my dewalt tools.
