The scene where Spongebob asks Squidward to try a Krabby Patty in the toilet wasn't cut in germany... kid being hit with a brick wasn't censored either.
Honestly I’m disappointed by this one, I’m in the UK and parents tend to watch with their kids. Lots of kids shows have hidden jokes and double meanings and this would have got a laugh from the parents. Sometimes being too careful is just dumb.
The word Nuts referring to male anatomy in U.K and they can't say that word in children television show, they can only say that word in shows that are target for adults
@@erenjeager9442 Yeah but just because a word can have a double meaning doesn’t mean you can just take it out. In this context it had nothing to do with sexuality. So if in Spongebob Sandy says that she recently found the biggest nut ever then according to that logic they would cut they word out too which imo is not logical as there is no sexual innuendo. If Sandy sees Spongebob holding 2 acorns and says “Spongebob I want you to put your two nuts in my mouth” then it would be a sexual innuendo
In germany the scene where spongebob offers squidward the krabby patty on the toilet wasn't banned, but later in that episode when squidward enters the Krusty Krab at night and he discovers a bucket of "water" at the door, which was in fact gas, a metallic hand with a lit match set the gas and squidward on fire and this scene was actually banned in germany. :)
4:32 That's little confusing, because in the episode "Bubble Buddy" Sandy leaves a letter that she "went south for the winter". Wasn't she supposed to be hibernating then?🤔🌨🏖
Okay I'm not 100 percent sure about the toilet one but the brick scene was definetly not removed (Or maybe it got removed late?) because I think everyone remembers the annoying HOPPLAA You can even look for "Spongebob hoppla deutsch" and you will find it instantly xD
actually, the episode love that squid wasn't banned in iran, instead it was dubbed over so that squidward's sister was coming to town, they didn't have a problem with sponge bob's crooss dressing however, the entire episode stayed the same expect instead of date, they said sister, which made the episode very vierd
For the chocolate episode I will never understand, ppl say "with or without nuts" a lot of times in public ppl are just dirty minded... They they can say it in real life if they wanna buy chocolete maybe even chocolete ice creame, but in a cartoon it means somthing else... Wow, just wow...
2:20 i didn't even think of that when watching this scene ever in my life, even if it is who cares, it's just a goofy joke that is hardly noticeable unless you're an adult that tries looking for subtle adult jokes. this is me, (a person who is entirely against smoking.) saying this.
I'm from the UK and I remember the chocolate episode had the word nuts kept in, in the UK nickelodeon Channel anyway. It may have been on CITV who could be very sissy with censorship.
The word “nuts” has a sexual meaning in the US too, and it’d be pretty weird to censor it since the word was obviously not being used in a sexual context
While it's challenging to provide an exhaustive list of specific SpongeBob SquarePants scenes that are different in every country where the show is aired, I can offer a list of some examples of scenes or episodes that have been altered or adapted in various ways for different international audiences: 1. **The Krusty Krab Menu**: The names and items on the Krusty Krab menu are often changed to reflect local cuisine and humor. For instance, in some countries, the Krabby Patty may become the equivalent of a regional burger. 2. **Holidays and Traditions**: References to American holidays like Halloween or Thanksgiving may be replaced with local holidays or traditions. The "Christmas Who?" episode, for example, might be adapted to feature a different holiday. 3. **Voice Acting**: Different voice actors are used for dubbing in various countries, leading to variations in character voices and delivery of lines. 4. **Cultural References**: Cultural references that may not be well-known in certain countries are often replaced with references that are more relevant to the local audience. 5. **Jokes and Puns**: Wordplay and puns that are specific to the English language may be adapted to create similar humor in the target language. 6. **Censorship**: Scenes or jokes that are considered inappropriate or offensive in certain regions may be edited or removed to comply with local censorship regulations. 7. **Character Names**: Character names are sometimes changed to fit the language and culture of the target audience. For example, SpongeBob becomes "Bob l'Éponge" in the French version. 8. **Episode Titles**: Episode titles are often translated or adapted to reflect local humor or wordplay. 9. **Cultural Sensitivity**: Episodes dealing with sensitive topics or cultural stereotypes may be altered to be less offensive or to convey a different message. 10. **Music and Songs**: The show's music and songs may be re-recorded in local languages, leading to variations in lyrics and music style. 11. **Setting Changes**: Some episodes with specific American settings or references may be adapted to have a more local feel. For instance, Bikini Bottom may be reimagined as a different underwater city in certain adaptations. 12. **Celebrity Guest Appearances**: The appearances of guest stars in the show may be adjusted to include local celebrities who are more recognizable to the target audience. These are general categories of changes that can occur when adapting a show like SpongeBob SquarePants for international audiences. The specific alterations can vary widely depending on the country and the team responsible for localization.
