- Ever hear 'tailor your resume' but not sure on how to do it?
Is it copying and pasting the job description in your resume?
Is it highlighting relevant achievements?
What do I need to highlight?
We got you.
Tune in as we walk through how to tailor your resume to the job description so you're showcasing your most qualified self.
Rather than putting everything you've ever done on your resume, we'll guide you through attaching the job you're applying for side-by-side with your resume in the Teal Resume Builder.
In this competitive job market, sending out a general resume is less likely to get that interview call. A tailored approach is the name of the game.

I heard about Teal from Jeff Su. Wow, I am blown away by the abilities that Teal offers. You have developed such a valuable company that will help out many job seekers. Great work!
Woo! Go Jeff haha really glad you came over to the channel and thank you so much for the kind words! Really proud of our tool for sure but more excited to see how it can help people in their search.
Thank you, I appreciate this video! I've been using Teal for a while and finally purchased the premium version. It's been so helpful with my job search. My favorite is the "matching" tool because it helps me find the keywords specific for the job and allows me to tailor my resume further. However, there are some words that are in my resume but are not considered part of my resume using the matching tool. I just wanted to ask if it's necessary to change something like "surveyed" to "surveys" or "collaborative" to "collaborates"? Will not having those exact wordings ruin my chances of getting past the ATS?
We are so glad to hear it's been helpful in your job search! We love the Matching Mode because it gives a side-by-side comparison of the job description on the right and your working resume on the left - easily able to identify what you want to highlight vs. what to leave off! Regarding of the word difference and 'getting past the ATS': there is not magic wall to get past, when you apply, you're in the system, so a recruiter or hiring manager reviewing won't be determining moving forward based on present or past tense. If it's past work experience, we encourage you to utilize past tense, but shouldn't have to spend too much time on that part as much as ensuring your resume reflects your experience relevant to the role.
Love Teal so far but I guess I don't understand the value "Generate with AI" brings when everything we do is manual. It would be wonderful if "Generate with AI" changed my existing accomplishment to match the keywords in the JD, as opposed to having to do it manually every time.
Thanks for your feedback, Jared. We hear you, we see you! We're working on a great new update for the Generate with AI feature right now and hope to have out shortly. This will allow for a more customized approach when generating the AI feature and allow for edits/rewrites.
@@teal_hq awesome! Looking forward to it!
Great video, but I just can't get my head around how people get measurable metrics for their achievements. Like, implementing a streamlined customer service experience resulting in a 20% increase in transaction speed for customers. How would someone actually get that data? Would I be expected to time myself, for example? For reference, my main experience is as a retail assistant.
How would someone realistically be able to get data showing that they 'increas[ed] a company's online presence by 25%', or saw an x% increase in engagement? I can't think of any job where everything like that is tracked, and accessible to people that aren't managers or higher-ups in those departments.
Totally valid question! The main idea here is just to display value with your achievements. Metrics are a great way to do that but for the numbers specifically you don't *perfect* numbers. They could be rough estimates or percentages.
For retail assistant think what is measured in your line of work. Is it the number of customers assisted? Revenue targets? Since numbers don't have to be perfect at this point you could put a number of customers you roughly assisted, or if revenue is more the target you could estimate the number.
For something like increased online presence, all social media platforms have metrics that if you manage that account you'd have access to, or again you could look at rough numbers and use percentages to keep things value enough to closely estimate.
Let me know if that helps! It is a tough thing to try to look back on and figure out for sure.
Whats your take on a entry level resume which doesn't have numbers to show as of now and but the candidate has knowledge of the concepts but no real world exp.?
Definitely showcase what you do know and what you have done that's relevant. Taken a course? Created your own website? Have a portfolio? Try and incorporate those into your website to help amplify the experience you do have. Go through the job description 'Job Responsibilities' section that highlights what the role is expected to do and analyze for yourself where in your experience and skillset you've accomplished or possess those skills. Then showcase as best on your resume as possible. The Projects section can also help amplify non-work experience as well. Hope that helps!
helpful video; i think for me as a viewer, pauses and silence help me digest the information
Thanks for the feedback, @nicowong2428, we'll keep that in mind! We try to cover as much as possible without making videos too long, but viewers can also slow down the playback speed or pause and go back if neccesary.
Been using Teal for 6 months, at least and applied to at least 50 applications, all rejections. I’ve paid for the premium service as well. Is there someone I could help me navigate this interface?
Hi there! Please email us at membersupport@tealhq.com - we'd love to help! We also have weekly webinars (also on our channel) for navigating the platform: lu.ma/a4714phg
