Heard plenty of stories from getting lifts with random people, the unknown locations, the tape cassettes that were available to buy on the back of the flyers, leaving the rave with no hearing etc! To this day he still feels the rush when the tunes drop and re lives the moment 😂
Seriously wish i could have experienced this era, if anyone set a rave up to be like this now, i know for certain it would not compare to this, no one has the ears for this… the new generation & technology has killed this real music off 😑 music isnt the same nowadays! Live sets! Pure talent, passion, love and feelings went into this, the crowd was the energy for the DJ’s and the DJ’s controlled the crowd, back and forth to eachother.

The sound is A1 and murder has begun as the ravers danced until the rising of the sun and the music captivated your mind and held it in suspension. You were taken on a journey to another dimension. Magical, musical memories were made of this and I send these lyrics out to all old school junglist.
This takes me back. I'm 40 now and I remember going helter skelter in 95 New year's eve. Kenny Ken back to back with micky Finn. What a weekend that was.

Mc GQ in my opinion was the best jungle MC by far, original toasting/rhyming he knew when to ride a riddim and when to let the tune play. So many others spoilt sets by chatting pure fraff!

This has got to be THE BEST live mix of all time. From the first tune Darren Jay plays and when the bass kicks in with a Jesus Christ accompanied by the whistles and airhorns inside the ministry of sound, alongside two MCs absolutely on the top of their game, I never ever get tired of listening to this!!

For me, the best year for jungle/drum and bass. The reggae influence of 94 started to dwindle but the tunes got so raw.

The weirdest thing is looking 30yrs back, is that wherever this set is online, in the comments the people who were there all say yep this is exactly how it was, an some of the people who weren’t say it was dubbed, makes me feel lucky to have been there, when people can’t even imagine that was real
Two things from someone that was there. People kept shouting stuff into the microphones like the guy in the crowd at the start that says "wicked everytime". Sooooo they put the crowd noise on a loop. Second, the REST of the night was ridiculously epic. All the best minds in the business decided to make that night perfect. Lastly, the sound system at world dance was like this on steroids. Dredd bass sounded scary, I kid you not.
And...GQ used to MC - ALL NIGHT....which was until 10am 🤣🤣

I was never there as I’m 36, but had the CD when it dropped and the chats that are dedicated to Mickey Finn were the best. Just spat them word for word again 20 years later!

The tunes, the mixing, the atmosphere are all perfect. Almost every track is a VIP mix made especially for the night.
The promoters of AWOL were also the people behind World Dance (big up Chris and Jay) - 2 of the very best jungle nights around.
I only wish I could have experienced this live. I've been to Ministry before, but only a house events. It was a quality club with a kickass sound system. Would have been amazing to hear jungle out of those speakers!
