Vilja Lied was a song Henk's mother used to sing to him when he was a boy, which is why Floor picked it. This was actually the first performance from the first episode of Beste Zangers, and the reactions you see from the other singers are pretty genuine. She blew them away with every performance.
Vilja Lied was the first time they heard Floor do anything but Metal music. That is why they looked bewildered. Mama was the song from the woman in RED who said holy shit twice during the song. Her name is Samantha Steenwijk. She is what the Netherlands refers to as a Folk singer.
The band needs our appreciation as well... bloody good! They play everything so flawless!
One of the many cool things about this season is that Floor sang the very first note of the first episode, and the very last note of the final episode. And a lot of really sublime ones in between those two :).
Vilja Lied is my favorite song of Floor from this show, mostly because Vilja Lied is one of the most beautiful arias in the opera world and she did absolutely wonderful. Whatever she sang in this show was amazing. She became a big name in her own country the others became big names worldwide.
I think you could add one more double reaction video from Floor's episode because you're already thinking of doing Henk's (Poort) "Sound of Silence". Emma Heesters did "Strong" that Floor wrote for her mother enduring quietly her pain caused by rheumatism and maybe other sicknesses as well.
Also, Henk and Emma did an awesome job with their duet so I think you should include it to your duet episode. I think the order of duets concerning Henk and Floor was "Shallow" by Floor and Tim, "Vivo per lei" (in Italian) by Emma and Henk and "Phantom" by Floor and Henk.

Hi guys! It's quite understandable that you, being Americans, pronounce the word Lied as you did. However, it's German (and we Dutch use the same word and almost the same pronounciation) for Song. You pronounce it as 'lead' in 'please lead the way'. Love that you're doing a Beste Zangers cycle and really hope that you won't solely focus on Floor's performances because there were plenty of outstanding songs by the other participants.
Only a woman like Floor can make me appreciate Vilja Lied. Cause that is not my genre. lol. But she's just so amazing. Her voice, her stage presence. Awesome.
Nice reaction guys. I agree with you, it's really rare to have a singer like Floor who almost every time give us chills and nailed the song technically and emotionally.
On Vilja Leid, Floor was the 1st singer on the 1st episode. The 1st time most of them had heard her sing ever. The "metal" singer stood up and did opera perfectly.

I think it is a great idea to have a Nightwish day. I think it helps everyone. The fans will know when to expect it. I know you guys get a lot of requests for other bands. This way you can make them happy as well as your Nightwish fans. These songs were the first time they heard Floor. I think the looks on their faces are priceless. Thank you for doing these. Only Henk Poort and Tim Akkerman knew about Floor before the show.
This was the opening act and everyone else's first time seeing her perform.
As Samantha Steenwijk said after this "You (Floor) sang this (Vilja Lied) like it was as easy as peeling potatoes at the kitchen table".
Floor gets there so effortlessly, as effortlessy like you and I drinking a beer!
Besides English I speak German and Dutch... that song Mamma killed me!

Floor, the "unknown metal singer" from the Netherlands opened this show with this performance. The shocked looks on everyone's faces was b/c they were not familiar with her prior to this. By the end, she closes out the show with Henk performing "Phantom of the Opera". what a way to open & close the show.

Can't wait for you to react to Floor & Henk doing the Nightwish version of "Phantom of the Opera". No matter what language she sings, she can deliver such a shitload of emotion that one is overwhelmed by them. P.S. Henk's performance of SoS is epic.

Beste Zangers was like rockers saying "oh your Elvis", " this should be interesting." Then they are like "Holy Crap."
I truly believe that Floor could change her music every year to a new style and genre, and NOT loose a single one of her fans, they will be like, "our goddess is teaching us what we must know" and follow her anywhere, in any genre..... i know i would lol.
She gained so, oh so many new fans thnx to this show, not only in her home country, the Netherlands, but worldwide thnx to CZcams and reaction-channels like yours.
Also thnx to that, the show itself gained a whole lot of attention and respect, by now i cannot count the number of reactors i've heard say, they wish they had this TV show as well.
Many dont even watch Television anymore because its a load of rubbish these days, its all competition and envy based now it seems, drama is a must, and people are fed up with that fake TV.
And then they find out that this is actually a TV show, and are reminded about how good TV shows, were again in the days of past... only that this isnt past days, its current days.
I like the idea to start at episode one, and work your way towards the epic ending of this season. (believe me, its really going to be epic)
But you still have a whole journey ahead of you and i'm betting this isnt going to be Floor only, am pretty sure tbh :P once you hear Henk, you want to add his songs too, not to mention the others like Emma and Rolf.

Yes he does you should at least listen to it before doing the last one phantom of the opera. they only have a copuple of houers to reharse before singing with the band in front of the others.
Nice reaction! In January next year Floor will give a series of concerts in The Netherlands where she will sing these songs amongst some other After Forever and Nightwish songs.
These all were sold out in 1 day..I'm one of the lucky ones to get a ticket😂
