I bought this one last month, it's pretty solid. The pages are a bit thin, but I didn't notice too much bleed through. The Thors mini was during Hickman's secret War. I am not 100% sure, bit I believe it is relevant later on regarding the hammer of a THOR that fell during the story. Good review.
Yeah luckily the art is usually able to hide the thinness well enough, but there are some very specific pages where the bleed through is pretty bad. And yeah I could tell Thors was from Secret Wars, due to Ultimate Thor and others all making appearances together, but because of where it was located in this book, I felt that it kind of threw off the pacing. Good review, I’m also not much of a Thor follower but picked this up based on all the buzz. I definitely enjoyed how epic it was, much of which was lost in the movie (which just leaned too heavily into the goofy Watiti humour for this dark story). Also loved seeing Jane as Thor, which I didn’t think I would going in. That storyline really deserved its OWN film, rather than being jammed in with the God Butcher and other stories like the movie did. However, I’ll admit that Christian Bale killed in the part. Side note, it’s nice to hear of someone who feels the way I do about Ribic’s art. He does great action sequences, but those faces man… yikes. Glad he didn’t stay on the title too long.
Yeah the movie completely missed the mark on tone. This was a really good opportunity for a dark MCU story, and you could see hints of that in the few Gorr scenes we got, but the movie didn’t take itself seriously enough to commit to that. So many plot threads they could have pulled from this run but chose not to, leaving it feeling hollow. And yeah while I see the appeal of Ribic’s art for some, for me it ended up becoming distracting with the frequency of weirdly drawn faces.

Definitely. That’s exactly what I did and it worked just fine for me, I’m not even a big Thor fan 🙂
