    A380 has one of the quietest takeoffs. First time I was on it I expected the engine roar to be very loud and scary. Also it took off quickly. Love this aircraft.

      The rain helps you visualize the incredible amount of thrust the engines are producing to get all that weight off of the ground and actually flying. It’s impressive to anyone that can appreciate the forces in play here.

      Not always. On a dry runway they don’t always use Max thrust, when a runway is “compromised” like this they use full power (according to some pilots I’ve listed to!).

      @@adam_matthews correct. In heavy standing water its far less likely they will derate the takeoff performance. Especially at SYD 16R where at the end of the runway is the Pacific Ocean 😅

    A380 is a true beast in TOGA. I have seen videos of Crews limiting thrust to like Flex 75 and still taking off with ease.

      It couldn't take off when they first built the plane even with its quad engine. The secret of this plane is the design of the wings. It was DOA until the wings were re-disigned.

    I was getting scared. It seemed to take forever to lift off. The nose was clearly up but the plane just wasn't getting off the ground.

      Usual with heavy planes, but yes a380 takes a bit. If you sit inside you think the same. But the fact that it can still stop on the runway if sth fails lets you realize how much length there still is infront of the plane

    The a380 is mind boggling. Every time I fly to Singapore I can never quite believe that the absolutely massive plane I can see from the terminal is the one I’m getting to travel on. Amazing plane. Top deck is 👌👌
