    I don't know this Performer, however, she transported me into a lusciously beautiful experience with the ethereal sound of her lovely voice. Brava. 10s across the board. 🌹. Magnificent. Reminiscent of Jessye Norman.

    I can relate to Katrina's experience. Meeting and singing for world class singers who you have grown up listening to is a life changing experience that one never forgets and inspires your art for the rest of your career. Ms. Price would be so proud!

    To Marckus l don't think it's anything wrong with the holy sons Remember that where Ms Price came from l think opera is also in a class by itself

  • @Markus6179
    @Markus6179 Před 3 lety +1

    It may just me, but I think that it is racist-in a way- that it is almost required of black opera singers to sing spirituals in recital. What do you think?

    • @TheWriterWalker
      @TheWriterWalker Před 3 lety +1

      Not racist. Try "respectful."

    • @jeromerichardson6306
      @jeromerichardson6306 Před 3 lety +2

      I cant see why songs like that would be racist Spirituals fit in just as the others fit in l love when this happens it lets us know that other races love this art form as they do other art forms

    • @TheWriterWalker
      @TheWriterWalker Před 3 lety

      @@jeromerichardson6306, I agree. If there is a Native American spiritual, for example, I would much rather hear it from a Native American. Not that they HAVE to sing such songs, or that others can't, but I just think their voice and cultural DNA might make for a better interpretation.

  • @soavemusica
    @soavemusica Před 3 lety +5

    Spirituals are more suitable to be sung in church than secular R. Strauss. Matthew 21: 13: "It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer."

    • @smmurden
      @smmurden Před 3 lety +2

      Also in the Bible: Make a joyful noise unto the Lord... I'm pretty sure birthday recitals are meant to be joyous.

    • @soavemusica
      @soavemusica Před 3 lety +1

      @@smmurden Indeed, it is written; Psalm 98: 4 "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise." Yet, you can be sure R. Strauss does not praise the Lord, if you choose to be sincere.

    • @baritonebynight
      @baritonebynight Před 2 lety +2

      This recital isn't part of a church service and it brought joy to many people who were probably of all faiths and no faith.

      @@baritonebynight Which is why a church should not become a non-church during a recital.
