Death Note is the king for introducing people to anime. Its premise is perfect for introducing people to how over the top anime is, while still remaining somewhat grounded in reality.
that's what got me into it attack on titan was my 2nd anime good times man 😄
It’s not a better gateway than Attack on Titan though.
Death Note is not consistently good across its entire run, that’s a real problem. I won’t deny it’s a good starter, but it’s not the best.
@@samaustin8690aot has its fair share of bad ep/arc and very gore heavy. Half the people would leave because of Eren's screamimg. Also the ending similar to death note is shit
@@prestige934 both Death Note and AOT have good endings. It's just there was plot armour in the last arc of both shows when it wasn't present throughout the series. But they get across their themes perfectly which is better than an empty ending like ATLA.
@@samaustin8690It was consistently good bro....Peak till the end
Saying Chainsaw Man is a good starter anime is like saying a shot of everclear is a good first drink
I mean, it is good. It is straight in the deep end, has a relatable character, is surprisingly realistic in depicting relationship abuse and the outcomes of it and extreme poverty, and is funny. If one can take it, it is a great intro.
In that case, it is exactly like everclear - extreme, but if you like it, you are now in drinking culture for real and there is so much more
I disagree. Sure it has a lot of craziness in it, but not in a way that is very exclusive to anime; CSM is arguably one of the least trope-filled popular anime other than AoT in recent years. A lot of the inspiration for CSM comes from the author's love of Hollywood and western media, so in many ways, it's like a blend of western and Japanese styles of show. The elements of CSM that would make me hesitant to recommend it to someone are the same kinds of things that would make me hesitant to recommend something like Game of Thrones or Westworld, rather than the things that are typically off-putting about anime specifically, such as the character archetypes in a show like Demon Slayer or even Jujutsu Kaisen or the ecchi stuff that is often shoehorned into otherwise normal shows like absurdly large breasts on various female characters etc. Plus I think it's just a really good and exciting show, which is arguably the most important thing about a recommendation for a new anime watcher.
@@bunklypeppz Yeah, I really love when anime fights didn't have the pace of manga of even LN (the characters don't just explain every punch and movement inside their head like I can't figure it out myself). Csm pacing is really good and the fights and conversation are just closer to movies, which is great for non anime fans.
@@bunklypeppz imo its too weird for a starter anime you could argue so is aot but aot story telling is in a league of its own, i agree with connor lannan should watch death note next
one of my friends started with CSM and he loved it whuch surprised me to no end, he is like a total normie not a single weeb bone in his body. so it might work as starter tbh
I'd say Cyberpunk Edgerunners is probably a good introduction as well, it being a Netflix Anime and having the Trigger artstyle that it does makes it really close to western animation while still carrying the anime craziness. Plus it also being connected to a Western Franchise while also being short and well written AND having an incredible English dub with recognizable voices from other Western TV shows makes it super easy to warm up to
True.
The fact that its short is huge.
Some people really hate catching up to 4 seasons of AoT or 37 Episodes of Death note.
Nah, Cyberpunk is a mid level anime. You give normies Cyberpunk edgerunner for their first anime, their heads would explode. I'd say vinland saga season 1 is the best for first time anime watcher

@@shi-chan5779 to be fair death note didn't need the extra episodes after L's death because the show is about who's going to win, Light or L? Its a shame that the studio pushed for the next few episodes to be written just to cash in to the hype and basically rehashed the conclusion of the series.
@@makibo.mp4 For me peak death note was when light got his memories back and tbh I dont like how L died.
I actually really like death note 2nd half, Mikami is actually one of my favorite characters but you could feel L was missing and it didnt really matter anymore because Light was probably gonna loose anyway because he is the "bad guy".

I love LazarBeam as a content creator but Trash Taste have been falling off like crazy lately. I cant deny how much I hated episode 161. Garnt used to believe in his takes but watching John Wick 4 before 3 is so dumbfounded and it was so pretentious with that whole cards againt humanity discussion like it felt like they pretended like no one has shat it on before and called it a hot take but this episode is 10x better and feels more engaging and refreshing
@@jamesb687 The second John wick was my favorite one, but I haven’t seen the 4th one yet.
I personally disliked John Wick 3 because it wasn’t serious and many scenes felt like jokes being repeated over and over again.
@@bonfist7277 thats fine but the fact Garnt said John Wick barely has plot is so silly, it has lore and world building. 161 was just a horrible episode tbh. Whenever its the just boys episodes Idk how much I'll watch anymore, I'll wait for more fresh different energy like LazarBeam or just rewatch older Trash Taste episodes where they actually cared about having engaging chats. The best Trash Taste ever gotten was the first 100 ish episodes. Its pretty obvious if you go back and look at those first 100 episodes of the podcast it was when they had the best things to say and it always felt fun and engaging. Now you've got boring stuff like I gotta say I kinda hated episode 159 too when I come to think of it. The last 10 minutes were hilarious ish... but the best they came up with is "ah yes deep convo about being lonely" but really now its not that deep anymore hehe. That was what it was like
I was like 5 or 6 watching bleyblade and doraemon i didn’t even know i was watching anime 😂
Anyone who uses the word "normie" might as well tattoo the word "asshole" on their forehead, cos well, that's how they sound.
Imagine thinking you are a better cos you watch some obscure isekai shit that no one has heard of lmao
Connor is based for sneaking in Ping Pong but that's a tough sell for anyone
AOT being the best for new fans and even long time Anime fans
Jujutsu kaisen is a great starter anime, it’s action packed, has a great story, and likable characters
100 percent agree way better of a starter than a csm it's such a bad starter
@@bloodninja2517 I’m semi new to anime myself, and when I watched chainsaw man I felt super detached from all the characters
@@vi5ionnono507 trust me I have watched anime for a while now and the charecters in csm are way too weird and experimental pretty hard to relate with cuz of how unrealistic they are there is a reason jjk manga sells way more than csm
@@bloodninja2517Nah jjk characters are traditional anime trope filled characters aside from one or two.
Whereas, chainsaw man characters are one of the most raw and realistic portrayal with diverse cast. It doesn't shy away from explicit psychological behaviours. Power and denji dynamic alone is more unique than the whole jjk cast. Thats the reason chainsaw man characters are experimental, they are detached from typical anime style cast and it paid off too well.
Nobody know what jjk even is pre anime like demon slayer. While chainsaw man pre anime manga sales was competing mainstream gaints like AOT and demon slayer just saying.
@@jakeoriental8847 there is a reason why is said it is a very bad starter anime i think csm is great it's just that it is very different from typical anime and bcuz of how wild it is it might draw away some potential viewers so I think it's better to start with something different
I love it when Trash Taste brings someone on that makes the boys revert back to those deep-within, simple, innocent anime fans.
Love you guys!
It's the only time where they will talk about anime again rather than random takes
@@facelessvoid_69 They've been talking about Anime pretty evenly in the episodes nowadays, it's fine.
@stormz9khorrible starter anime lmao not even top 10
as someone from the philippines, it's always so bizzare to me how kids in the west literally got made fun of for watching anime because PH has always been a big consumer of anime 😭😭 like even my parents watched anime when they were growing up. i have memories as a kid of overhearing adults talking about slam dunk, dragon ball, hxh, and other classic shounen series. so i grew up watching anime like it's the most normal thing in the world hhhdhdh
@@jannguerrero ????? of course there are those who think people who watch anime are childish, but it's in the same context as thinking people who watch western cartoon are childish. what i'm saying is that anime in the Philippines was relatively more normalized even in the past. Ask anyone here if they know Doraemon and they'll tell you with confidence that yes, they do. Also, Voltes V isn't even the first filipino live action adaptation of an anime. We had Sarah: Ang Munting Prinsesa (1995) which was a filipino live action movie adaptation of the anime series Princess Sarah (1985), which was also a very big hit in the Philippines during the 90s.
@@jannguerrero ahh, yes, the prestige part i get. tho anime has always been more accessible here in PH even before netflix. not only were popular series aired in the top 3 biggest TV channels, Hero TV and Animax Asia also existed which exclusively only aired anime. But yeah like what you said, I do agree there's a certain prestige associated with anime that's more apparent now than before.
Yep the whole reason I started to watch anime as a kid cuz I felt like such a loser not being able to relate when my friends would talk about dragon ball z😂.
Voltes V was big over there and it’s one of the best mecha anime out there.
Same here in Indonesia. My father even love Dragon Ball. Lmao😂

If you ever finish an anime and wish it didn’t stop I’d highly recommend One Piece. It’s a large commitment but the pay off is so great and the story, world building and lore are so addictive. I only started at the beginning of Covid and it’s practically changed my life

To explain the over-dramatic nature of anime, you should watch a few non-anime japanese movies, because you'll notice that the acting can be over-the-top dramatic in them too. Film and other media, it seems, is an extention of theater. That's their approach to it.
I have no clue why I haven’t seen more Japanese cinema.
Honestly, as cliche as it sounds I would probably recommend Vinland Saga to someone who is just getting into it, every episode is gripping whether its just outright violent or predominantly dialogue based. Failing that you can't go wrong with something like Mob or 1PM.
Oh yeah, 100%. I had a non-anime watcher friend finish the first season and be very pleased with it - not just as an anime, but as Viking media (which she had watched a lot of).
Second season is a harder sell, because of the quality drop in animation during the first half combined with slower plot. I know the story is fantastic, but that's a really hard sell who doesn't know.
@@EveonaV Yeah I get you, I think its been well documented that some people have sadly given up on VS since S2 was more of a slowburner compared to how fast-paced S1 was (Also finding a character to follow up and fill the void left by how badass Askeladd would be difficult in any anime). It's a shame because like you say - the story and Thorfinn's development through that world is completely relevant to that time period.
@@EveonaVWhat are you talking about? Second season has way better animation. It's just that there are barely any fights in it
I would also recommend Cowboy Bepop just because of the great English Dub.
I wouldn't recommend it for someone getting into anime, because as soon as you get into vinland saga your expectations will become way too high vinland saga is just hella good
I feel like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is the perfect starter anime. It's just so solid from start to finish it's what got me into anime in the first place. Even the shows english dub is really solid.
Its the best anime ever mate AOT great contender though
If lazar thinks attack on titan has too much wasted time then he definitely didnt understand most of the story.
There is literally only one episode of attack on titan that in my opinion could be cut, and thats episode 10 of season 1, but that too is more so because it features an annoying character and is a bit fillery.
But even the other episode 3x19 which most people would consider filler is actually simply more focused on the character feelings.
Literally everything else in the show is necesaary for understanding the world, emotions or plot.
Id say FMA:B is the best starter anime, death note is pretty close behind, both of them i would say the story is quite concise and easy to follow but also insanely good. id say brotherhood is better because of how broad it get in its themes, it has alittle bit of everything for everyone without feeling forced or diluted by all the different themes and genres it covers, in fact their mostly all quite complementary. Also the animation for it is pretty insane considering how old it is, holds up extremely well. The main story itself is definitely unique compared to western media but its very human and is a real tear jerker at times, lets be honest theres atleast 2-3 times everyone cried watching it which i would personally say if a story can make you feel so much emotion to make people cry it did really good
Brotherhood has a very slow start compared to Death Note and AOT which might put off some people. It takes its sweet time explaining things becoming boring for some
FMAB is an old show? What?? Then Cowboy Bebop must be ancient by your standards lol
Fmab is bad for starter dawg 😂
Death Note and FMAB were the first two anime i watched, loved them both I’d say they’re pretty interchangeable for “best starter anime.”
@@masudbillah6196death note has an edgy dude for mc. I think it depends on your interests
I thought Demon Slayer would be a good starter anime. Yeah it’s not the best but it introduces you to pretty much all the tropes in anime without them being too overly annoying. And it’s also very easy to follow especially if your first starting out. You can just kind of sit back and enjoy the amazing presentation Ufotable provides.
Zenitsu is annoying. And the comedic caricatures are out of place and cringe. Apart from that, the art, design ans animation is God-tier.
Zenitsu is hella annoying dude
the story is boring tho.
its like a cake. wats the use of icing (pretty colours, animation etc..) without a cake (good story)? or a book with a pretty cover but mid story
Zenitsu being annoying I think is perfect because then you’d know what to expect for other mainstream anime how there’s somehow always one annoying character not many people like. Also story is boring blah blah like I said it’s simple, u can kinda turn ur brain off just enough to where u can still enjoy the story on its own and love the presentation Ufotable provides.
I’m not calling the story great, I do think it’s very lacking but I do believe it’s a great starter anime for normies

I was waiting for grant to say : have you heard of mushoku tensei" ...
I like to imagine the grunting is just a tick Japanese people have
I'm in kind of a similar spot now. I've watched Aot and totally loved it. Then people recommended demon slayer and it's just not for me. Then I tried some other animes and nothing compares to Aot imo. They are so not for me, yet I was crazy about Aot.
Vinland saga?
You should check out one punch man if you want to watch a different genre of anime, otherwise if you want to watch a narrative driven, then vinland saga
Thinking about it. Introducing someone to anime is really hard. If I go over every anime I have ever watched it becomes almost impossible to pick one to recommend. Black Lagoon and Dorarara are two which I really enjoyed but I would probably not recommend them to anyone. My First full anime was Luck & Logic and somehow I am still here and watched over a few hundred, I guess it does not fully matter what anime you first watch as long as you enjoy it and have the time for it. I really need to watch death note one day, or week.
Ones that have plots more alike western medias are better: AOT, JJK are prob the best two to start in my opinion, then Death note and ds
I think it depends on what genre you like. If you like mystery and thriller shows you would love Death Note and Detective Conan. If you like crazy action you would love Black Lagoon.
Death Note has been the answer and it always will be. It gives you everything to make you understand the idea of anime. There's the very stereotypical god tier weapon every anime will have, and Death Note uses it as it's main plot. The book, once you get past that as a new viewer, the show straps in and moves very logically. Then all it's tropes and nuances are global and used perfectly.
It's also the only show I regularly go back and listen to music from. It was my first anime from 6 years ago but the music is still one of the best IMO. AOT is close second because of it's intros. The rest don't come close to me. Lights Theme is absolutely some of the best piece of music even outside anime
Lucky I just ran out of Anime to watch this week. After I watch the new Guardians of the galaxy I will probably check out death note. I am a big fan of music so will have to check out Lights theme you mentioned@@itizwhatitiz9560
AOT greatest of all time!!!
For starter anime, it depends on the person's age, preference of shows. Adults who prefers a more mature/adult-like and sophisticated content, Death Note, AOT would be great. I recommended a colleague who has never watched anime except for Doraemon, Pokemon and Dragon Ball. After watching AOT, he never knew anime could be so deep. He was like how the f*ck can this be for kids and teenagers?
AOT is the breaking bad of anime.
Down to having a character with the longest character development possible, is evil but with nuance, and has people hating or supporting the protagonist for the same reason. There is also that the protagonist becomes powerful by accident and great worldbuilding.
That’s probably Monster in all honesty.
W comment. The parallels to Breaking Bad is perfect
It's GoT of anime.. if u know the ending it's very GoT
@@OhTaco77 it’s better than Game of Thrones
one anime that is very underrated that i find amazing is kengan ashura because it is essentially a tournament where companies like amazon and nintendo hire a fighter to compete for them to increase their wealth and it has amazing cgi that makes all the fights realistic and flow so well together
These guys continue to have no clue what their talking about with Fate 🔥
I feel if you watch AOT and Death note first, the bar gets set too high, everything afterwards seems to lack. The first game I ever played on ps3 was uncharted 2, and it hurt the ps3 generation for me, I expected those graphics in every game.

Last time I watched anime was my awkward teens, but then recently after binging game of thrones I caved and watched chainsaw man. My first ever anime was Voltes 5 then Voltron which I learned recently was an American spin to the actual anime Beast King GoLion.

I used to be a Dragon Ball Z fan only back in the day! That's the only anime I've ever watched when it used to air on CN back in 2009-10. I used to have DBZ character stickers on my books and everything! Then I thought about watching the whole franchise starting with Dragon Ball! Then rewatched the whole BDZ series, this time with a better idea about the story rather than being just a fanboy of the show! Then DBS! Watched the TOP saga like 20 times! Then one day I thought of trying out the other animes! I started watching Death Note, cuz I heard so much about it! But it only was like 36 or something episodes! I was thinking about starting to watch One Piece for a while! So, I started watching One Piece! And fell in love with the story and the characters! I've watched over 50 animes as of now including all the big-name animes (except for Naruto)! But One Piece is my no.1 anime on the list!
One Piece may seem like a really long anime and it may feel like the story is stretching too much from time to time! But it's definitely worth it! Especially if you're into animes with a story that has depth, mixed with comedy, action, and drama! One Piece has it all!
I don't know what happened to me lol I started with Dragon Ball as my only Anime and then started discovering all this obscure frickin underground Anime that literally no one has ever heard and then onward to shows like Kill La Kill. My journey through Anime was weird.

Hot take: Fate is very simple to watch and understand and enjoy. The complications are there due to the fandom that wants you to read the Visual Novel, Fate is easy to understand if you have your facts right.
Besides, gigguk made a 30-minute video to fix all this shit up.
I read the VN later on and can confidently say that watching the anime and going about your life is the best way to go
just watch everything in release order.
or read/play everything through release order.
@asianpersuasion4901 exactly
It's all needlessly complicated by people who dont want other to enjoy the series but flex their incomplete knowledge.
No the complications are people who don’t want to read the visual novels. Like why would you want to start Fate without reading the visual novel when you have tons of other great anime to watch?
UBW > Heaven's feel > Zero. Then dip
@prestige934 yeah thats the best order to watch in for least spoilers
But you and I both know that the ubw anime was not good for the majority of its beginning and only started to feel like fate later down the line. So, for the best and the most enjoyable experience, i tell people
Zero -> UBW -> Heaven's feel
Wish they made a good adaptation of the best route that is the fate route 😢
AOT is such a good starter anime goat
Was pushed by some of my friends to watch it and now i watch more anime then them
@@Ac0nn1 Lets go W
Only downside is that it raises your expectations from the medium massively.
@shyguy5473 true
stories like AOT comprise about 20-30% of the medium
The rest is trashy tropey ecchi isekai bs
Koboyashi Dragon Maid was my first starter anime(I think)
In terms of starter anime. FMAB is the best imo. Great at introducing and building characters. And killing or maiming them in the same breath. Its a terrible day for rain. Iykyk
My starter anime recommend has to be Black Lagoon. It is much closer to the western style of shows people are familiar with, so it is much easier to adjust to. As far as I remeber, there isn't that much typical "grunting" and other very much anime stuff. It is good to get someone used to the animation style of animes and such. It also has a very good english dub, so thats a plus for those who are interested.
Why did they not recommend One Punch Man
Its the best introduction to anime imo
They did in the full podcast right after this
They did
@@gavinotheshitpostartist5586 oh , nice

Bruh how come people never finish the video
I just noticed the Rainbow Six chibis in the background, i'm now a fan. regardless of what you talk about, you have my respect
I like the look of conor when he is preaching Jojo like a passionate missnary.
I'm totally biased by my own entry into anime but I really think everyone should start with like Akira and Ghost in the shell. Going for features instead of shows I feel is much easier time-wise. Also Ninjascroll, Redline, Appleseed, any Miyazaki flims, Vampire hunter d, Tokyo Godfathers and Urotsukidoji for good measure. :P
Miyazaki + Akira & GITS are the best movies for beginners. I'd also throw in Makoto Shinkai and Mamoru Hosoda. Satoshi Kon if you know they like more artsy stuff
I've always struggled to engage with a lot of features, but Redline had me hooked and intrigued from the start, what a ride.
The problem with those anime are that they are very different to modern anime. This is literally the oldtaku stereotype
Miyasaki films can be utterly boring to old mature people and Akira would feel like a mindfuck or a shitfest to others, GiTS and Jin-Roh would be solid though.
i might have a wrong opinion cuz i watched a ton of ghibli films before even knowing what anime is but i feel like movies wouldnt sell me that well on anime as a medium they usually dont have that instant hook that most anime have in the first 20 minutes u usually only fall in love with the movies after they end at least for me
The Bible of Anime (not by any particular order)
1. Neon Genesis Evangelion (original)
2. Cowboy Bebop
3. Trigun (original)
4. Monster
5. Death Note
6. Code Geass
7. GTO
8. Banner of the Stars
9. FMA Brotherhood
10. Gundam Seed
I mean the Bible of anime is the Bible adaptation in the 70s, but I would replace Gundam SEED with the original Gundam, as it is by far the best entry in the series.
Samurai champloo?
My beginner anime was DBZ, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece
I reccommend Demon Slayer, Full metal alchemist brotherhood, Hunter x Hunter, Jujutsu kaisen, Attack on titan and deathnote
I genuinely thought Garnt will be recommending Domestic Girlfriend lmao
I'm still afraid to watch aot since the idea of seeing people brutally eaten alive just sends chills down my spine, heard that the audio makes it even more terrifying. Heard the series was great but I cannot bring myself to watch it cause terrifying.
Believe me, people being eaten is secondary to the main story. It's intense at times. But the politics and the world building of the show are so intricately developed that it becomes worth your time.
@@shyguy5473 I'm too much of a scaredy cat to watch it but I know some of the story from friends.
it's honestly not that scary
@@nobodyimportant4503u should watch it now if u haven’t yet the death from the titans aren’t bad and the 1st episode and 2nd are one of the most important in the show even if it doesn’t seem like it is
This is the biggest Trash Taste W in a while. I hated #161 but this episode was awesome! It was so refreshing
but we have no enemies 😢
why though
@@adumpster235 Thats the ironic thing about the episode its called that but they single handedly made enemies with actual horrible takes
@@user-ob7yq8ts6c why what?
Nah ep 161 was entertaining as hell because of it.
Attack On Titan and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood had got to be the top 2 best starter anime.
I started with deathnote and immediately went into Tokyo Ghoul and now im over 120 entries of anime in since the lockdown in 2020.
Honest to god, get people to watch Kill la Kill as their first. Go as hard as you can, and still have it be sick, and people will get over their anime fear real fast.
Tryna play it safe is just meh, when ya gotta break em first, cuz they gon be hypercritical about every little thing, so give em something where they are forced to say fuck it lol.
Gotta leave a big impression n shatter their lil eggs. I like tried many super cool shows n stuff n they always maybe take a while to get into or don’t work for one reason or another. Psyco Pass, Demon Slayer, or FMAB not really been big success to hook people who are complete beginners. Better for like a 5-10th broaden spectrum anime.
Weirdly enough, stuff that just embraces anime chaos been great. Kill la Kill, Nichijou, One Punch Man. Almost parodies of anime, for some reason works great.
Haven’t finished aot but I just remember watching s4 part 1 thinking “oh shit, something good’s going to happen” then it cuts to somewhere else every time
S4 part 1 is very confusing at first. I remember starting that season and having to check like am I even watching aot Rn lmao. But it’s 100% worth sticking around as it all makes sense by part 2. And part 2 is imo one of the best in the series
Catch up on it because it's going to end this year.
@@doccalis3150 ok
Yeah I'd recommend finishing it now.
Next thing we know lazerbeam goes down the slice of life route , that would be amazing
I recommended Monster to a friend as their starter... He got hooked and disturbed at the same time XD
Was it a good idea to recommend one of the best anime ever? His expectations from the medium will skyrocket.
Aot is the worst starter anime because it sets the bar too high
I agree 100%
That's only if you want other anime to be like it. There's dozens upon dozens on the same level which is more than enough for a casual watcher
Naw, it establishes good taste in anime.
I don't get why people recommend Demon Slayer after watching AoT. One of my aunts loved AoT then tried Demon Slayer and was like "this is for kids". Which is true.
@@forgeryyy exactly vinland saga was the next one to watch for your aunt.
1:37 he's right. Anime and even japanese games take forever to get the point. you don't see this problem often in western media
I think because Japanese can be quite a descriptive language at times. When watching subbed anime, the subtitles might say “Yes I agree” but the characters speak in Japanese for like 15 seconds 😂 I’m sure that’s a case of the translators simplifying it too but that was always my interpretation.
takes time but at the end it's very worth it>throw it at your face and you feel nothing after it
We’re still trying to find the line between hentai and anime, Lannan.
lazerbeam seems like the kind of guy to like Baki
Death note is a great call but surprised no one mentioned rezero or Jobless .
Thought garnt was going to go with DG for a second
NONONO.
Re zero is not what I would call a beginner anime.
Re zero at the start makes fun of alot of other isekai and giving someone something that emotional right at the start is not smart imo.
After watching a lot of anime re zero becomes really good.
@@shi-chan5779 I see your point but be aware rezero came out before many other isekai in source material. So it's not a compulsory thing . Also rezero isint that emotional in context . I mean there's many films that would be suitable and way more hard hitting such as silent voice or I want to eat your pancreas which are dramas people can enjoy without watching nothing prior
Re zero is like an Isekai Berserk. It's emotional suffering and pain. Also season 2 was exposition heavy. That may turn some people off. Jobless is great but it could turn him off because of the character of Rudeus. Isekai in general is a tough sell because they are all the same most of the time. Garnt would not go with DG because he does not like the anime. He thinks the manga is much better.
@@shyguy5473 allot of early anime watchers also go through an edgy phase also . I think he'd do perfectly fine with beserk especially not the CGI season
@@wrusst He said he does not like horror or something intense. And as I have heard about Berserk (I have not seen it), it's brutal. The thing about the edgy phase only applies when you get into the medium as a teenager. That's why I don't think he would like something like Mirai Nikki which I loved when I was 16 lol.
I hate it when people grunt when someone says "Demon Slayer is a good starter". It fucking is. It's an AMAZING starter anime. People will get into anime more with that stuff compared to Legend of the Galactic Heroes as their first.
Not for me personally, I had to be acclimatised to weird anime shit by other anime before being able to enjoy demon slayer. I now like it, but I did have to come back to it a few months after starting my anime journey.
Their recommendations were still good though. I think S3 just put a bad taste in their mouth otherwise it's a good gateway show.
No one will watch galactic heroes as their first anime💀
@@shimazmunshi6595 why not?
@@thomasffrench3639Too long. And no streaming site has the show.
DeathNote will be a good introduction to Anime...Great Story to easily understand
My standard first anime recommendation is Cowboy Bebop, but for someone that's only watched Attack on Titan I'd go big and say dive into Hunter x Hunter or JoJo.
The battle of Trost where Eren has to carry that boulder is the only part in AoT that is worth complaining about pacing-wise. Other than that, nothing about AoT feels slow unless you only want action and no substance.
That was slow due that speech Armin gave when eren went to sleep
But I think it was good
And seeing eren repeat those words in the latest part was awesome
I'm noticing a pattern with a lot of the recommendations...most of the dubs feature Matt Mercer. Levi, Jotaro, Kiritsugu....
Cause he's the best
The best starter anime is likely something on a platform the viewer owns. I dont like attack on titan but to each their own. I typically ask what shows do they generally watch and go from there.
ofc recommend him like the dark trio of anime lmao
Personally discourage starting someone off with strong bangers like AOT, CSM, DS, etc. These animes are done at the highest level and starting someone off with strong presences sets the wrong standard of what anime is supposed to be.
I disagree. Starting someone with stronger stories will be more likely for them to respect the medium, and if they don’t like the other stuff, than maybe they have standards. Also there’s a lot of anime on that level, so they would watch more anyway.
CSM is not a strong banger man. So as demon slayer. You can’t compare AOT alongside with CSM/demon slayer.
@@EOMMunaware in term of animation and hype, sure can.
@@tieulongdoan4490Hype?? Bro have you been up to each AOT season? The hype was unreal.. AOT can be compared to like Vinland saga or the new TYBWA Bleach.
Demon slayer and CSM aren’t that hype nobody talks about them after airing. It’s just animation, although csm is better. If you said JJK it’ll make sense.
@@EOMMunaware I was there since 2013, wait 4 years for season 2, asking myself why season 3 part 1 kinda talk too much, enjoyed season 3 part 2, then cringe at the cgi of season 4 part 1 and so on... So yup, it's great in term of story but the animation is not the best. Each series has its own strenghth. Demon slayer season 2 animation was hype as hell.
If AOT is your starter anime, that means you probably won’t be able to enjoy any other anime that you watch after AOT.
Well I watched LotGH and I'm still able to enjoy other anime
Sure you can! You have Psycho Pass, Gundam, K-On, and Mob Psycho 100 that are on par or better than AOT.
@@thomasffrench3639don’t sneak k-on in there like that
@@yinyang2971 I was actually sneaking Gundam in. K-On is great and is universally loved. Gundam is from the 80s, so I thought it was a dark horse.
I respect your opinion but I gotta say that is cap. AOT was my first anime and I am forever thankful for it since it got me into it, but I can appreciate so many more from different genres
Also how does no one bring up the rumbling? That was the best anime intro ever
If i lose it all slip and fall, i will never look away.. too good 🛐
Fate/Zero and UBW 2015 are all you have to watch in Fate really. If you want there’s the heavens feel movies. It’s not that deep. Figuring out which attack on titan s12 part 3 finale part 2 is more difficult.
