  • In this video I show how to open clutch cover and inspect or check the oil strainer (oil filter) on honda glr125 (cb125f), I watched so many videos on oil strainers that are clogged due to lack of oil change, but I show the difference of regulary oil changing effect on strainer

    I was taught by an engineer that about 75% of all engine wear occurs when the engine is cold, the other roughly 25% occurs during startup which of course only lasts a matter of seconds. You started the bike with nothing other than a thin oil film protecting the moving parts and revvved it up a bit... As soon as it was started, that thin oil film will have been gone in no time and with no fresh oil to replace it, very harsh metal on metal contact would have occurred. No wonder the engine didn't last much longer.

    Wow! That mileage is incredible! My wife has a 2016 CB125F that's just passed 13,000 miles and I change the oil every 1,000 miles. I clean the strainer and centrifugal oil filter at 5,000 miles. The valves are also checked/adjusted at this point. I think it will live a very long life! Do you use the bike for work? Deliveries? Amazing mileage ❤

    • @ParsMaker
      @ParsMaker  Před 2 lety +3

      Yes I do work with this bike, and put alot of milage on, I also changing my oil every 1000 mile and that is why the engine last long , you don't need to check oil strainer & oil filter every 5000 miles if you regularly change your oil,
      Overall very good and efficient bike , if you look after ,it will look after you 😇

      The later version with digital speedo has a paper cartridge filter held on by two bolts, hence this silly ritual of removing clutch cover not required, thank goodness.

    I had a Yamaha YS 125 I got to 16.000 km in 2 years and then sold to get a KTM 390 ADV. It had a cartridge type paper oil filter. Does the Honda have no replaceable oil filter? Thats interesting. Looks to be a reliable bike. And super lightweight. I might buy one.

    Hi there ! Did you run the engine a bit before draining the oil? (so it gets less viscous)
    You do an oil change every 1500km? Isn't that excessive?
    I would probably follow a logarithm curve regarding the frequency of oil change starting at 100Km for the first one then 500 then 1500km and finally every 5000km.
    Honda recommends the first oil change at 1000km then every 4000km.
    They also recommend to check the oil strainer after 12 000km. (I google "cb125f user manual").
    I believe it was a good thing to run the engine for a few seconds without the oil 10:30 but I would like to be sure it's safe to do so.
    Thanks for the video

      @ParsMaker  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi, I am aware of the manufacture recommendations, but I ride about 100 miles/ day, and when I reach near 2000 mile my oil is almost half, so I usually Change my oil every 1500 miles, and it better for my engine,
      Btw my Engine broke down after 90000 miles and I recently put a new engine on , in future I may shear a video on engine failure

    • @Platypus_Warrior
      @Platypus_Warrior Před 2 lety +2

      @@ParsMaker I would love to know what failed on the engine ! Maybe it's related to the oil level dropping so fast. As I said, Honda recommend an oil change every 4000km after the first 1000 so maybe there was a problem with the piston rings not making a proper seal.
      Maybe you pushed the bike too hard when the engine is cold.... I don't know but I would really like to know about the engine failure.
      Thanks, I subscribed :)

      hi, well I personally like the 2015 -2020 model , I saw the new bike in honda showroom , they removed all the side alloy from passenger footpeg and use cheaper metrical it looks more like chinese bike with new head light , the only new thing that I like about new bike is the brushless starter and charging system + auto on&off system, the funny part is the 2020 model is still cost you more to buy.

    use brake cleaner before and after doing any stuff to engine, sand bits do more damage than not opening it.
