True story
One of the best, most underrated hip hop songs of all time. Awesome beats and rhymes.
100% agreed.
If itâs brought up to hip hop heads true hip hop heads will have to acknowledge G-Rap this at the time was a banger the East needed. East Coast emcees didnât really make a lot of noise about the harsh realities of the neighborhoods the way west coast rappers did. I believe without Kool G-Rap you donât get a Nas, Big, or Jay-Z without him.
Yall gotta stop with this of all time stuff just say itâs a good song and it was underrated
This is proof that you don't got to cuss to make a masterpiece I love old school hip-hop
Many legs I broke, many necks I choked, and if provoked I let the pistol smoke. This is street storytelling at it's finest.
Leeza Da Diva yup
yeah you is right about that
I hate to say it but I must cats don't flow like that anymore those days are long gone and they will never be seen again. How I'm so happy that I live through it!
Word lifeđ
@@rebelpumpfitness4904 Oh sho nuff. I grew up in this era and I can't bring myself to listen to any of this crap today. These idiots have no flow or real lyrics, rhyme like they got a mouth full of marbles and the music all sounds the same. This classic here got the dopest hook eva.
"A thug who mugs for drugs he eventually bugs
Lookin for crack on carpets or rugs
A squealer tells but a dealer still sells
To Little spoiled kids inheriting oil wells"
Damn Kool G Rap killed that shit.
Sick!
i actually started reading this comment at the exact moment he was rapping that verse!!!
"I was the type on the opposite side of smoking a pipe..."smh

Goosebumps. Takes me back to when hip-hop gave you that rush...
Yesss his voice alone gives me an adrenaline rush to the head.
I no that's right đź
He rapped so fast and smooth you had to rewind to hear the lyrics. G. Rap is one of the TITANS of the old school.

I so miss the late 80's and early 90's. The true golden age of Hip-Hop!!
Rap nowdays is just bullshit!

Will Bx rap lost it when rappers became actors
NO THAT IS HIPP HOPP . RAP IS THAT đ© THEY DOING NOW AND SOME OF THAT đ© YOU CAN'T EVEN UNDERSTAND

The lyrics, the rhymes, the flow, the beat, the delivery...
You have Billy Joel to thank for piano riff.
The delivery of my đ
You donât get that in todayâs BS rap music in fact, it hasnât been done since the early 90âs. Words you can hear, flow and delivery just like you said. I still play KGR, the shit still hits home in Queens, NY
If you love hip hop like I do, then you have to appreciate the rhyme scheme and patterns. Sheesh. Talk about painting a picture. This is ridiculously good.
The bet and samples are sick too. Thatâs a Billy Joel piano loop from the song âstilletoâ
Facts !
Absolutely
The music in the old days 80s & 90s are the best, this new generation is too lost, real music is dead.
G is killing every second of this joint!
He didn't curse or use the *N* word, and was STILL able to convey his message and keep it GANGSTA!!!
g rap the godfather of storytelling. so many rappers took him as a role model. same like rakim
And still came out hard
Would've been better if he used n word
Exactly the point!!!! One of the best rap songs of all the time !!!!!
@@youngchedr2088 ...He didn't curse or use the N- word because censorship was strong.. especially for rappers back then.

"Not my lifestyle, so I made a U-turn; The more money I earn, the more money I burn,
Pushing all buttons, pulling all switches, my name is G. Rap;
I'm on the road to the riches."
That's some deep ish.

I followed the lyrics and my brain was sweating afterwards. The best lyrical flow ever!
2023. Yep. Still bumps.
Yep 2024
From the 80âs. Real
One of the illest sample ever! Marley Marl murdered that Billy Joel piano break!! And OH MY GOD Kool G Raps flow and story telling!!
I love Stiletto, and these guys took that riff, and sampled as tremendously as one could. It's really excellent.
I JUST discovered this sample source I bought the 52nd st. Record and put on side 2 first and the piano about made me shit myself. I was like VHHFFHTVFD ThaTs road to the riches! And started tripping over myself to call my friend who said he swore it was from some Billy Joel track a few years ago but he couldn't put his finger on it, so just gave up and figured he was wrong.
that message in the beginning should be told to all kids.
This was, and always will be, a straight BANGER!
Seriously true. This happens to be one of the dopest tracks from the golden age of rap.
Not many Mc's can paint a picture with their Lyrics like this today..Incredible

@You Can't Handle The Truth wow. You really donât know who superhead is. You must be one of those old out of touch dudes. Itâs karrin Stephens his ex wife. The 17 year old wife that he beat and had a kid with. And since she left him heâs never been in the kids life
