- In Episode 2 of the West Coast Fly-in Winery Tour Series, we fly to Paso Robles, California to visit award-winning winemaker and high school classmate of mine, Kevin Sass of Halter Ranch. Luckily, the Ranch just finished building pilot accommodations so we can actually taste the wine before departing the next day. It was such a special day including a safari in the Land Rover Defender. We highly recommend you fly in to 89CA and stay with them! HalterRanch.com

It was such a pleasure hosting you two! This is a wonderful video. We look forward to your next visit at Halter Ranch. Cheers! 🍷
Thank you again for everything. You've got such a great thing going. The aviation community appreciates you! Cheers 🍷
How do we go about setting up a visit?
They treated you so well. Putting this one on my bucket list.
Wow, Halter Ranch sure has grown! I'm glad you enjoyed Paso Robles. I miss that place so much.
Me too. SLO County is a magical place for me.
I too am married to a A36 pilot! This was a fantastic video and I look forward to planning this trip soon! We were just in Paso Robles in June, wish I knew about this then! Thanks so much for the post.
Nice video. I enjoyed your vlog style and especially the run down of things to think about when flying in and out. Nice mix of travel and aviation.
Fantastic Pirep!! While at Paso, you have to try a homemade cinnamon roll at Joe's on the airport! YUM!
What an interesting place! One day I might consider flying in. Thank you for sharing your experience.
That place is insane! What a cool trip!
10/10 for that ultra groovy pirep, amigo (and amiga). Am I jealous? Maybe a little. You are on the nose...this is what GA is all about. And two thumbs up for playing it tight by taking care of your other girl by rolling on to the hard runway for your runup and planning ahead to circle out for altitude if needed to defeat the dreaded DA beast...even tho you have plenty of airplane. You're teaching good lessons by example. Can't get better than that.
Thanks as always, Joe. I'm sure you're not jealous of the 41degC temps we had! But everything was pretty magical. I hope your August is off to a great start...
Thanks! Great, inspiring video! Going there this weekend, your flight helped me brief the airstrip 👍
Looks like a lot of fun
Sure was. Recommended!
Thanks for the pilot feedback! Flying into this airport in a few months. There seems to be no information from pilots except for this video!
Stunning, thanks for sharing 👍😊 BTW, I love that railway too, very cool, my idea of heaven a railway and a runway!👍😄👍
Right? The railroad deserves its own episode!
@@CLEAREDDIRECT It does, looks pretty special 👍😊
Flying in on Saturday. Thanks for the information!
I just watched this. Two things: 1) that’s an awesome trip and my wife and I will definitely be heading up there soon. 2) I was flying that DC-3 at Paso that day. Haha. Small world!
No way! Super small world. That DC-3 shines like a Diamond 💎
Blue skies 🤙
Awesome video Sir!!👏🏼 Your last wine video inspired us to set up a trip of our own, so we are taking friends with us to Sonoma next month! We are very much looking forward to it. Now I need to add Halter Ranch to the list!
No way! That’s great to hear! Where are you based?
Paine field (PAE) subleasing a hangar while I’m waiting (2 years and counting) for my own.
Cool video. Add it to my list of places to fly into someday.
Nice video! Can’t wait to see the S-21 Backcountry series😊
Great video. It’s nice to hear Cal Poly mentioned too…as a graduate from 40+ years ago that never left. I can attest to the awesome service and fine wine at Halter Ranch. I didn’t know the runway was even available upon request, I thought it was only available to Mr Wyss.
Go Mustangs! I'm jealous that you got to / chose to stay in SLO. It's a magical county to me. Mr. Wyss wants to share this beautiful place with pilots in particular. He seems like my kind person. Cheers!
Great video
Thanks Scott
Nice video and trip!
NICE!! Love this!! Thanks for sharing. My wife is from Walla Walla. Would love to see you fly there. Being on the Est cost we have made a LOT of commercial flights to Walla Walla. Thanks for letting us be a small part. God Bless
Thanks for the nice comment! I have never been to Walla Walla and look forward to going. Thanks for watching :)
Great video! Loved it
Good times right there. Living the dream! Might have to file a flight plan 😁
[pah-so roh-bless] 😉
😂🤌
Looks like you flew near Rancho Seco nuclear power plant?
Sure did
Great video
