    Looks like a nice machine for the hours. Eventually id like to upgrade to one of those,looks like alot easier to work on and nicer cab

      My Dads farm ran a JD 7720 Titan II before they moved to their JD 9500. I remember him always saying the threshing unit was the around the same size, but that it was so much easier to work on, and a lot quieter. He always thought having the engine right next to the cab made it a lot more difficult. They ran the 7720 for many years though,

    Looks like a good machine. I'd like to have a yeild monitor in ours. It would be fun to watch the numbers change as you go through the field.

      I do really like having the yield monitor. I picked up my AgLeader system used actually, and then use the same monitor for planting, sidedressing, and combining. It is nice being able to know exactly what part of the field is yield what. Unfortunately when there was the drought last year, it also made it apparent just how bad yields were in some places. Haha.

    Excellent Combine. Still our main combine (2480hrs)...893 head makes this combine go 3.7 mph in 180bu at 23%. The common problem areas on this is walker bearings need grease every day or they are toast. rocker switches on the console every year and header height switch every 3 yrs. Motors burn a jug of oil a week. Eventually the seal between the engine and hydro goes on all of these. Lights are inadequate now. We LED our whole machine and header. Your paint looks really good! If we did any other crop other corn it would be too small.

    • @RemembranceFarmsLLC
      @RemembranceFarmsLLC  Před 4 lety +1

      I do feel kind of lucky, because mine is the 9500 that still runs the wooden bearings for the walkers. I’ve heard the greasable ones were nightmares? Last year I also did like what you did and replaced all the stock bulbs with LED ones from Amazon. It honestly made such a big difference! I’m glad to hear of another person that still runs the 9500. It’d definitely be nice to have a new one, but for what I do, it does exactly what I need it to.
      Thanks for commenting and watching!

      3 years later and CZcams recommended this video to me again. We traded our low hour 9500 corn special with the 9600 motor in it. Went from a 1995 to a 2017 S680...and it really shocked me how the combining is pretty similar. Very nice to have hydraulic power...no lag when going thru 200bu...unloading and going thru mud at the same time. Yet 3x the fuel while only going 1.5 mph faster with the same size head(8 row). The 9500 did a great sample, no rotor loss, and sipped fuel. Great combine.

    I had the inspection done last year on my 6600 and as you are , I was scared of the cost. They broke it down into things that needed done now and things that could wait. I'm still working on the list but makes me feel better about whare the combine is at on its shape.

    • @RemembranceFarmsLLC
      @RemembranceFarmsLLC  Před 5 lety

      I like hearing that. I think I’m really leaning towards doing the same here too. It’ll be nice to at least know “this is what needs to be done right now” versus me guessing. I only run corn through mine as well, which is a little easier (I think? I could be wrong). Thanks again for letting me know that worked well for you.

      Your too kind. Thank you for the comment though! I try to show what goes on at my small farm. Not all of the fun and exciting stuff like the bigger farms, but my son definitely likes watching the videos. Thank you again for the nice comment! Definitely appreciated?

    Controls are a lot like my old L2. My L2 would go 22mph. Felt like I was out on the front of the nose of a rocket. Feeder house doesn't stick out like the 9500 and so you felt like the tip of the spear. A scary ride for sure the first few road trips.

  • @sendingitinsaskatchewan2471

    We live in Saskatchewan Canada, we have a 9500 but we use a pick up head that just picks up a swath.

    • @RemembranceFarmsLLC

      I’ve seen that before in videos. Is that for canola, or do you do that for wheat too. All really interesting to watch though.

      Oh wow. That’s crazy to hear. I wasn’t happy to see the mice damage that happened in my cab this year. Apparently we didn’t get the combine cleaned out enough last fall.

    Nice

  • @jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754

    Have them do the inspection and you do the repairs.
    For a 110 acres a year that combine will take you into retirement!
    Them shoe blocks can be replaced with a bearing kit but just put blocks in. 2 bolts on each side and that whole bracket comes out.a

    • @RemembranceFarmsLLC
      @RemembranceFarmsLLC  Před 5 lety

      Very good point, Jon. Honestly, I didn’t think about the fact that they would just do the inspection. I’m always worried that when I commit for someone to go over things, that I end up paying for the repairs too. Ha (Why I typically buy my AgLeader parts used and then install them myself). I do like the idea of them going over it more and then me just having that checklist to get to.

    Doing our end of harvest cleanup and maintenance on our 9500 now. Does right at 1000 acres of corn, soybeans, wheat and oats every year.

    • @RemembranceFarmsLLC
      @RemembranceFarmsLLC  Před 4 lety +1

      Wow, you definitely run a lot more through your combine than I do. I'm kind of fortunate just doing corn, because I'm sure there are some wear items that seem to do ok running corn, but would need to be replaced for small grain. Hope harvest went well for you. I normally like to respond well before now, but it's just been a crazy busy end to the year.

      Remembrance Farms, LLC I can totally understand that. Harvest actually went pretty well for a change. Just wish we had gotten some rain, especially with the corn. Can’t wait to start another year though. Happy new year to you all and best of luck in 2020!

      I actually still have an extra book for my 9500 so I’ll have to take a look. Since I only ever did corn with it, I thankfully didn’t have to do all of the different settings to take it from corn to beans/wheat. Do you run a 9500 too?

    • @RemembranceFarmsLLC
      @RemembranceFarmsLLC  Před 3 lety +1

      I’m so sorry I was so slow to respond!! Were you meaning how it gets shut off, or the button that’s on the newer ones that shuts the system down immediately? For the shut off, it’s actually just the normal key. But on a 9500, it actually doesn’t have the button to shut the head and separator off immediately; wasn’t new enough for that. Hopefully that helps! I’m so sorry again for the slow response!

    • @brianshort2177

    That's not funny at all because the mice got in our silage chopper and chewed every single wire into. So I honestly feel your pain

    • @RemembranceFarmsLLC
      @RemembranceFarmsLLC  Před 5 lety

      Dang. That’s always been my biggest fear. Thankfully everything fired up this summer, but with how much mice “activity” I saw, I was worried I’d have to have someone come out that could trace faulty wires. Knock on wood that didn’t happen. Sorry that happened to your chopper.

      chipmunks are even worse. They chewed the belts off my lawn mower! Hopefully they don't get my combine. Cute little demonic gremlins! For me it is all out war now!
