Yes, most people do not realize Japanese screws are NOT standard philips. Need j.i.s. driver. I usually try to replace the smallest ones ( 3, 4, 5 mm) with "allen" drive screws as I take them off. Vice grips help when the head strips. I have a 2003 XVS 650 Classic that had been hit from the front. Luckily lots of parts for these. Think 99 through 13 or 16 mostly the same engines.
