- In this video we explore how to use Spectravox in Vocoder mode to vocode a drum machine.
By using a drum machine (in this video the Roland TR-606) in place of a microphone as the program input to a vocoder, we can map the rhythmic and tonal information of that drum machine on to Spectravox’s carrier oscillator and white noise generator. Spectravox’s Spectral Shift function allows you to move all of the filters up and down while resonance will impart more colorful and metallic tones. In this video we look further at how to use the filter bank patch bay to rearrange the envelope follower outputs and control voltage inputs of the two filter banks inside Spectravox to scramble the frequency spectrum. We also look at how all those inputs and outputs can be combined with the additional patch points on Spectravox for creative and interesting modulation.

Excellent unit! Please bring back the 2, 3, 4- tier racking!! Pleeeeease?
Nice to see the drummer from Big Black still getting work these days.
Hey that took me a minute 😅💚💚💚
The demo I was looking for! Very useful!
Amazing demo. This thing sounds so good.
Delicious.
Moog does it again!
Nice. Is there a dry/wet mix for the incoming signal or a way to have a thru signal of the input for parallel processing? It would be nice to hear the raw 606 blended with the processed signal.
you can get the amplified Program input out of the patchbay yes. Wish you had a knob for mixing it in but it can be done externally at least.
@@nanocyde_artist thanks! Good to know
Nice that’s quite clever
classic drum machine
599 bit pricy but I guess this is Moog afterall. Very cool
Spectral Shift💪
"Copyright Moog 2023" at the end. :D
Hi Moog. Please bring back the Sound Studio. A Sound Studio 4 with the Spectrovox would be great. Thanks!
Fucking amazing looking machine, but I just have to comment on how funny it is that this is a vocoder demonstration and he runs a drum machine through it
Max R is my hero
Synth jaw harp @3:04!
Got some Pale Green Ghosts vibes right there…
Reminds me very much of the DFAM. Some differences in sound but not especially useful.....unless you don't have a DFAM.
Does the Spectravox have a simple Line-In input rather than using the Vocoder input?
It is a "1/4-inch XLR combo input for microphone, instrument, and additional sound source processing."
In addition to the XLR + 1/4" combo jack, there is a 3.5mm line-level Program input in the patchbay on the right.
It´s the missing Moogerfooger :-)
I want one
“Another dimension, another dimension, another dimension, another dimension.”
It's a good demo because there is a plant on the table.
great sounds here. much better than any of the lamé influencer stuff. can you please do one using any external polyphonic source as the carrier for vocoding voice. that would be my main use case and all the demos of this thus far sound terrible especially the way the envelope seems to cut off, sounds really choked and honky and unusable which i'm hoping is not the case
This is so so Berlin Nightclub
fajne
Is it possible to do something similar with the Roland tr6s?
absolutely
Guys, I cant decide...Moog Mavis or Moog Spectravox???
Need an amen break fed through it
Amen!
Drop a strawberry 🍓
i'm thinking getting the Spectravox to go with moog grandmother no cap
Hello
Sounds like a jaw harp
