I hope to see more eskates on this channel. I think it would be interesting to see Andrew try one with pneumatic tires.
Got any boards that you would recommend?
@@freshlycharged hoyt boards
@@freshlycharged no. I'm just getting interested in them myself. I currently own 2 EUCs and an e scooter.
@@freshlychargedPlutonium 2S from bioboards. Fast with a big battery

Electric skateboards can carve like no other PEV. Also, smaller boards can be a great inexpensive commuter. I would love to see more electric skateboard reviews on the channel!
What boards would you recommend?
@@freshlycharged 2swift board
@@freshlycharged Acedeck and OMW
Don't ride an esk8 on wet roads if you can. Even if a board is rated for rain, riding on urethane wheels while wet is dangerous as you have 0 traction for stopping.
Good advice!
yooo i love my meepo v3 , ive had it 3 years. I have 3000 miles on it , its never failed me. Meepo rocks!
That’s amazing! Have you performed any maintenance on it?
@@freshlycharged no not really. The only thing that came apart was the rear motor hub sleeve rubber. Started cracking at 1000miles. I was going to upgrade to 100mm hub sleeves anyways, and they changed the ride quality. It has been a excellent upgrade since. Still going strong !
Meepo customer service was really great also. My remote battery when I first got the board only lasted like 30 min before dying to they sent a new 1 out right away
Now i just ride my Master and dont ride the board much anymore. Just on weekends
Meepo is great! Let's see more esk8 contents!
What are your favorite esk8 brands?
I started off with a Meepo V3, then a Onewheel XR, and now the Begode T4. Eskates like Andrew said are great intro to the PEV addiction :)
Gateway drug!
399 is a steal. I remember when these things were outrageously overpriced.
Boosted 🪦
@@freshlycharged the only thing I don’t like about it is no kick tail. I’m 63 years old and I’ve been riding them since the 70s. I love the kick tail to where I could at least maneuver the longboard. The Meepo short board rocks
@@karlfonner7589 There is the Meepo Flow and the Evolve Stoke you can check out. Both have kicktails and DKP trucks.
Thanks for putting metric in your videos guys! ❤
No worries!
Tighten the trucks. That should eliminate the speed wobble and add stability. Min were pretty loose out of the box.
It helped tremendously once they were tightened.
Thank you so much for the awesome review, Dalton and Andrew! We're excited to see electric skateboards 🛹 now being featured as part of the PEV lineup on Freshly Charged. ⚡
For everyone watching, what other features or aspects of the Meepo V5 (or any of our other boards) would you like to see more of? 👂
Thanks for sending it for us to test and review.
*All about that eBoard life!*
🤙🏽⚡️🤟🏽⚡️🤙🏽
Carvin is hella fun!!
Yes sir!
Finally some content worth watching😂, Andrew you're a bigger guy you should try Meepo Hurricane or Acedeck NYX Z1 👍
I'll check it out!
Why do these always look so much sketchier to ride than a Onewheel style board? Even after they tightened the trucks it just looks unstable.
I can totally relate to this. Just got my first eSkate (Lorentz major V2) which is a beast of a board (probably should’ve gone with a lighter board since I’m a lighter rider) but coming from riding a OneWheel for 2 years (being my 1st OneWheel too) and then going to an eSkate (now you have to include a remote & stances you have to be in to accelerate/brake) was definitely a huge learning curve to get used to/not panic (especially when it was time to brake).
And now I have 4 wheels to worry about (even though their pneumatic tires) going over/getting caught on bumps and cracks compared to the OneWheel where you just have ‘1 tire’ to just get over those things and you’re done with them
So I’m still 50-50 on this…..
Nice review! That's a good value and I had really considered the V5 from my first esk8, but for just $30 more (summer sale), the Wowgo 3E offered a more powerful belt-drive board, with bigger battery, optional big cloud wheels, while still having a flexy deck, carrying handle and being a known brand. I wasn't prepared for the acceleration/speed and already got some nasty road rash on my elbow/forearm. I'm kinda curious about those beefy kneepads and gloves you both are using. Do you mind telling me what they are? Thanks
I would be very interested in you trying the meepo envy
Will you check backfire boards, like ranger X series?
Not a Meepo fan, had two, issues with my Hurricane mother board and terrible packaging on my Flow, now have an Acedeck NYX Z3 with suspension and gear drive, it's pretty awesome. I'm an EUC guy at heart but it is nice to find a good area to ride an e board and practice carving, I'm not very good but carving is VERY fun. If y'all haven't tried the 2Swift, check them out, they're sort of a split between riding an e board and EUC as far as difficulty goes, I'm not good on mine but it's def something to experience.
It's always fun to try new things! Thanks for the recommendations!
I have a Meepo V1. It died at some point, and I've moved a couple times and was hoping to get back out. My laziness But best damn board ever. I've got my eyes on the new NTS. Meebo is the best. I road that board into the ground and smashing my head a couple times. Their customer service is top shelf 😍
i have roadrunner pro, inmotion v12ht and ownboard zeus pro..i love em all. but bang for buck, my $1300 esk8 has 40+miles range on street wheels. out accelerate ebike and euc from 0-35mph.
Bang for buck!
I think you mean "out accelerate YOUR ebike and euc"
Had the v4 and loved it but just got into onewheel more but still fun but will get boring
meepo? must be something balki from perfect strangers (tv show) rides.
I have to correct you on the dimensions of the board. The width of 11” is from edge to edge of the wheels, not the deck width. Usually these budget boards have deck size just around 9”. Only higher performance boards have decks over 10”. Anyway, I love eSK8s and compares to one wheels, the ROI is much higher. Cheaper, Faster, longer range, and would not crash when battery runs out….
Thanks for letting us know. We will keep that in mind for the future.
If you are interested in budget boards, try the wowgo 2s max
They're fun to ride but honestly I could never use one for commuting. Even with 105mm cloudwheels the vibrations are killer. Your feet go numb so much faster. Not to mention cause the wheels are so small its obviously more dangerous one large crack or a 1/2 inch lip can threaten to knock you off if you're unprepared for it. The vibrations also cause parts to come undone often requiring far more maintenance than other pevs. The turning radius is also abysmal. They awkward to carry around. There's also the fact there's never truly a connection with your board. On something like a euc or onewheel it feels like an extension of your body but on a board you're controlling it with the thumb throttle and if you accidentally graze that throttle and accelerate without bracing yourself for it you can eat shit.
For commuting pneumatic wheels/tires are the way to go. I run tubeless on a couple of my boards and if I do get a flat they run just fine because of the stiff sidewalls. Another option is to add sealant to both tubed and tubeless tires.
Price to range ratio esk8, they're a "bit" inferior to other PEVs but they're fun especially carving. I've owned a Raptor 2 sadly it doesn't turn on anymore
But the prices on Esk8 are pretty darn reasonable, don't you think?
That battery is just so tiny that for me i never get enough range out of that. Doing max speed id be lucky to see 5 miles out of a 144wh battery. I have a 196wh eskate and the most ive ever gotten out of it is 10 miles, and that was only riding at like 10 to 15 mph at most. I realized quickly i crave speed and thus the eskate was not for me as the batteries are just way to small to sustain top speed for any reasonable amount of time. I have since switched to EUC and realized it was exactly what i was looking for. Great video though, they are super fun. Belt drive or direct drive is the way to go for eskate, the hub motor sleeves wear out really fast in my experience.
The max range does seem a little overstated. How much do you weigh and is it hilly in your area?
@freshlycharged I'm at the base of the rocky mountains so there's basically zero flat terrain anywhere around me. I weigh 145lbs, so basically a featherweight and exactly the weight these manufacturers intend when they give range estimates, and still on my 196wh battery i was falling way way short of the 17 miles range estimate. The range estimates they give for eskates seem even more "maximum ideal" than scooters or EUCs IMO
Skateboard wheels are still too small to soak up sidewalk bumps. I'm a 2,000 mile per year E-scooter (rides on sidewalks alot) rider.
What about an Esk8 with scooter wheels? 🤯
Not all electric skateboards have small urathane wheels, check out Acedeck, OMW, Mboards, some boards have pneumatic wheels up to 8"
Most esk8ers that i know have all switched to euc's. Esk8 wheels are too small and theyre useless off-road, even the Bajaboard, because of the massive turning radius.
All true, however, when both my boys went to college, they both wanted an Esk8 to get around campus even though we have all these EUCs they could have taken.
8 inch plus wheels exist for esk8 boards. I never have issues riding over bumps in the road.
freshlycharged, colleges is a big skating rink.
But you can't grind ?
