That is the problem with learning in this way. Like most of us learned the Alphabet by its "song". I challenge you, can you name the FOURTH letter BEFORE Q - quickly now. Did you find yourself reciting the song?
That is not an appropriate way to memorize a stack.
This is PRECISELY why I developed my own 'system' for mastering the Aronson stack. MemDeck-Trainer.com has some details on this.

Best way to learn this is in sections.learn like eight cards and the song and repeat them til youve got it then move on
That's what I've been doing...learned the first verse of 8 cards....Do you recommend the DMC V5 once I learn the stack? I have some of his other versions....

That is amazing! I have been working on mnemonica stacking the last couple of days, and I have not yet recorded the sequence with voice. I wanted to make a video with "singing", using my own set of illustrated cards, but it takes quite some time to get these illustrations done in the way I do them. The deck has become quite colorful, only 7 cards to go before it's finished.
Doing my own audio recording will work better, but in the meanwhile I'll go for your version as my soundtrack :-)

So many questions. What happens when I shuffle the deck? Will anyone figure out that I am card counting when I sing out loud during the trick? Will it work if I substitute the tune for something from my Anne Murray greatest hits record? Doesn’t the black ink look a little sus when performing a trick? Can I do the song in sign language? Why not just put the cards in order from ace to king for real easy recall? Do you sell your songs on iTunes?

Thank you so much! I'm sick of hearing it to be honest. But that is after 5 straight hours of the song on repeat.
To others learning the stack, I highly recommend coloring the faces of your deck with the number in the stack ("1" on the four of clubs, "2" on the two of hearts, etc.) like tamariz suggests in the book. That was very helpful to me as I'm a very visual person. Good luck!

Great, thanks a lot!....now I've got this freaking tune stuck in my gord....that's a good thing though. I've been doing close-up magic for over 50 years but I never took the time to learn this stack. I saw Juan in Las Vegas at Jeff McBrides Mystery School many years ago. I tried to learn this system a few times but gave up. This really does make the process quite a bit easier. I thought it was Adam Sandberg when it started out!...BTW,what is the best book for learning tricks and routines that utilize this stack?...Thanks again, great video!

Inspirational,, I use the 3rd song for the whole deck,, as its faster ,, like"" have you seen the muffin man " 4 er clubs the number 1, number 2 the 2 er hearts, etc etc tempo can be fine tuned to suit, I found essential to learn it backwards in sets of ten before moving on,

Dear Common Magician. Is the card order, which is Juan's order, special in some way, or will it work with any chosen random order?
Mnemonica is special in a lot of ways. It can go in and out of various other stacks with shuffling. It has a large number of tricks that have been worked out with it. But all of these things can also be true with your own custom stack.
If you use mnemonics it’s easier, it took me only 20m, and after few hours I perform mnemonica ( just by doing 1 total repetition on the stack after 1h the memorisation ) 👍🏻

Not as well. And you can't just listen to it. You have to watch it in seclusion... pause, go back, repeat and study it while singing along... making it as absurd as you can.

There is only one Mnemonica, but you can alter any stack to suit your needs.

My problem with this video is that it only helps you to decode fast ( 35 -> K of heart), but when you trying to memorize the deck of card, encoding speed is what really matters (King of heart -> 35). just my two cents
This isn't a comprehensive solution. It is only one tool. Memorization requires scaffolding of several angles for recall. So you would want to use a peg system, major system, some brute force memorization and various other techniques.

What's the use of this particular stack?
There is a book (and many other manuscripts) full of effects (many are complex and untraceable) that are based on this stack. It also has the benefit of not having an observable cyclical pattern yet it can be shuffled into from new deck order. It has become one of, if not the most widely used stacks for this reason. That being said, it's probably only worth learning for the magician that is willing to work from stack on a regular basis.

Get Rick Lax's stack training memorisation course. I aced it within a week!
But this is how Juan Tamariz recommends learning Mnemonica in the book, and he says that you can learn it in a few hours like this.
@@everettleach Tamariz invented the stack, so it would be much easier for him. In addition, unless he tried other methods, he has no way to compare the ease of learning. I have tried Tamariz's method and find Rick Lac's method far superior.
@@geoffaitken4379 Before getting the book I looked up the order and tried to force myself to remember it but I never could no matter how hard I tried. So I bought Mnemonica and I followed Tamariz’s instructions from the book and knew it by heart without doubting any cards in an afternoon. It just takes a lot tireless concentration and repetition. The song is just part of the method though, he recommends pairing the song with a handful of other techniques to ensure that it stays with you forever. But different strokes for different folks I guess. I don’t know Lax’s method so I can speak to his teaching on it, but I don’t think there is a better teacher of Mnemonica than the man who created it. But that’s just my take, I’m sure Tamariz wouldn’t care as long as we are learning Mnemonica and have fun with it.
