I met her at a book signing for this book and she was the nicest person. Got an autographed book and a photo with her….nicest memory!
My son just bought me three of her books at Ollie’s discount store 6.99 each Amazon wanted 22 dollars.hope you enjoy your mother’s day❤❤
That's a great deal! She's a good story teller and takes good pictures, so her cookbooks are fun to flip through.
The Gateau de Yahourt (yogurt cake) is a true classic of French family cooking. It’s pretty much the cake that a French child learns to make as their foray into baking. I was probably 3 years old when I made my first!
She mentioned something about it being a French concept, too. It was super interesting! I hadn't heard of it before. :)
Germany and Austria also have lots of "Container" recipes for cakes, mostly it's the cream container here
I was hoping for a tasting of each and to hear how you liked them. I guess you said they were good in the description, but that’s not quite as satisfying. 😊
This was so fun! I would love more of this type of meal prep. Joy of cooking, Betty crocker cookbook, half baked harvest or any of the other food network cook books or popular food bloggers would be so fun!
Yummmm ! I like Ree’s recipes because she uses readily available ingredients at almost any store. I live in a small town and our grocery stores do not carry a lot of unusual veggies and other ingredients. Everything looks delicious !!!
For sure! I recognize most of the brands she uses in her videos and that are pictured in her cookbooks. :)
Pioneer Woman is one of the first cooking blogs I started reading regularly AND I had corn chowder with quesadillas on our meal plan for this week. So your video makes me really happy. Thank you!
I’m in love with this concept, Mindy it’s so awesome to have an internet aunt like you ❤❤
HUGE fan of grits. I am in the South. It is a staple. My 93 yo Dad thinks it is heaven. lol. Great recipes.
I'm right with him !!! I'm 63 and I love them. NOT with SUGAR THOUGH !! I'm a butter salt & lots of pepper !!!
I met her at a book signing about 7 years ago! She is super sweet and I hope you try more of her recipes. ❤
I have a confession, my don’t like store bought frosting. Lol!
I normally buy it from the bakery counter instead of in the tub. I don't usually make it anymore because it's a hassle and a mess for me! LOL
I watched this the other week and ordered the book. Lol I was going to upload it and say hashtag Mindy made me do it 😆 here I am watching it again ❤❤❤
I love the Pioneer Women. It was good to see you featuring her recipes. She always makes good home cooked family meals.
As much as you love spicy, you need to try her black eyed pea dip. I think it's in one of her cook books, but I just get it on her website. It's to die for!!
My mind went “what”? when you made the grits dish. I’m from the South (Alabama) and I love grits. That looked so delicious. Wow! Kudos to the Pioneer Woman and kudos to you for introducing it in this video, Mindy! 😋😋😋
I love grits! Though, I'm not a true southerner because I usually just eat instant grits with a little salt and pepper. :) But Oklahoma is sort of "south-adjacent", as I like to say, so we get away with it because we're not considered truly "southern". LOL!
Great looking meals. Thank you. I need to try some of her recipes.
Thank you for the video. Especially the corn one!
Left over cheese grits make for wonderful fried grit cakes for another dinner. And tequila shrimp is delicious, too!
I thought about that. I've seen Frugal Fit Mom do the fried grits thing.
Awesome video, thanks Mindy ❤️❤️👍👍
Your PW cookbooks look like mine, with all the sticky notes LOL I have all the books and quite a few baking dishes, dinnerware sets, mugs and towels. We are making the corn chowder tonight!!! I'm a huge P Dub (as my husband calls her lmao) fan!!!
Thank you for the cost breakdowns. They are always appreciated in recipe videos! And using the coffee maker for water for the bullion is something I never thought of doing! 😅
This is just my personal experience with good chop. My very first box was missing steaks and the fish was bad. It was a hassle with customer service to believe me and didn’t refund me until I made 3 calls. 😢 But I’m going for box 2. Please don’t hesitate to try them just because my review. I’m giving them a chance and so should you!
Oh, that's so interesting, and I"m sorry to hear that! I have always had a good experience with the deliveries and the quality, and I have paid for several boxes myself.
@@SeeMindyMomyou and Christine at frugal fit mom are my favorite yt channel creators to watch for budget friendly shopping and cooking ideas. She actually recommends your channel quite a bit 😊
@@samanthashaw8329 I totally agree with you. These 2 women live the life that they teach us!
Thanks Mindy. I love pioneer woman!
Love these types of videos. Encourages me to use my cookbooks even though typically I cook intuitively as you do.
Me, too! I don't keep a lot of cookbooks around, but I've kept hers. Just the pictures are beautiful.
I’m actually eating some cheese grits in a homemade breakfast bowl while watching this 😂 I have that exact container of grits and can confirm that it lasts a while. If you’re feeling a little fancy then provolone is also amazing in grits lol
My husband and kids love grits. Someone said, g r.i.t.s. girls rule in the south. Lol
I really don't like grits. My husband and a lot of his family put mustard in it. I dont like either one. Im good lol.
But the kids love it. Hes even had others try it, they love it too. Thats how my family eat grits. Minus me. Lol❤
Love Ree Drummond!! Her spaghetti sauce is my family's favorite!! Thanks for doing an episode about your favorites!!
Somebody else mentioned the spaghetti sauce! I'll have to give it a try. :)
Hi Mindy Great video love the pioneer woman recipes Thanks for sharing 😊❤️👍
Ok this is my new favorite video!! I love Ree!!
Ah, thanks! :) So glad you liked it! I've had this one on my list to film for a while!
Hey sweet friend. Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day. Another great video. We love her hasselback potato recipe.
Thank you! I had a great Mother's Day, my family spoiled me sufficiently. :)
@@SeeMindyMom you're so very welcome, friend. That's good to hear. You deserve it.
I have had polenta plenty of times but never grits. That recipe looked really good and I think it would work with polenta too
So, if the skillet meal was 9.25 and I’m assuming the muffins were 2.00 and the green beans were 2.00. 13.25 for dinner plus whatever was served to drink must be about 15.00 total. 15.00 divided by 5 is 3.00 a person. I’m not usually able to get my meals for 4 under 15.00. We have a nursing mom and a 21 year older male eating at our table.
Very good. Thank you for the encouragement that I’m not off track. The cost of eating has risen to an alarming place for many of us.
I can’t believe you bought 3 limes for 25 cents. Maybe I should move to Oklahoma.
Hi Mindy, great video as always. Thank You for all the work you put in this it’s still a “eye opener” when seeing just how much it cost to make 1 meal nowadays versus 3 yrs ago😮so unbelievable!! Hope you and all of yours are doing well. Take Care❤
Yes, I understand! I actually just a filmed a video that should come out next week where I made over a meal plan from 3 years ago on my channel and compared the costs then and now.
Southerner here…try pimento cheese in your grits. It’s amazing! 🤩
Corn on the cob is lion sale here for 25c/ear. Very much looking forward to making that corn chowder!
Liked seeing the actual cost.
Interesting, I have never made cheese grits like that with eggs, I'll have to try that.
She is so expensive and was so incredibly rude when I went to her book signing. That broke my heart because I thought she was a nice person.
I love to use masa as a thickener in my chili! Gives it the best flavor too 🤩
What restaurant served the corn chowder? I feel like I need to go there.
Thanks for all of these ideas. Where is your silicone spoon whisk from (in the corn grits recipe). I’ve never seen something quite like this.
I got it from amazon last year, but I have looked for it and can't find it anymore. People have asked me, I wish I could find it. I only see it as part of a set now.
The recipe for the cake please? I guess I’m missing it!
Thank You!!
She has it linked - it’s the last one. If you want you can Google 11 carton cake.
We just moved to Tulsa. What are your favorite places for groceries? Any great stores with deals?
love this kind of meal... add mushrooms
Mindy, as the budget friendly master you are, I’d love to see you do a video going to WinCo! I know they have one in Tulsa. My favorite grocery store ever. The lowest prices around (like 98¢/ pound strawberries right now) and the bulk section is the best (especially for those items you only need a tablespoon of again but may never use again).
I had a terrible experience at WinCo years ago, and I haven't been back. 🤷♀️
Cake would be a good camping recipe,
cool
Being from south Louisiana I found it funny when you said “if you are not familiar with grits”
I know. It's definitely a southern thing. Oklahoma isn't totally southern, but you can still get them at most breakfast diners here. :)
Here in Iowa they definitely aren’t common unless you go to a Southern restaurant. A lot of people haven’t ever had them or don’t eat them often.
Sour Cream Noodle Bake??
Mindy, Could you PLEASE do some recipes that do NOT have Cream Cheese, Sour Cream, and Spicy ingredients for individuals that can not have them. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE watching you and Mandy's videos. Unfortunately I sent her a message and I called her Mindy instead of Mandy. I noticed it when it was to late. God Bless you and keep up the WONDERFUL JOB you are doing. ❤❤❤
I struggle with this as well. Thankfully there are dairy free alternatives out there and many of them are compatible enough in recipes to not notice too much.
Why not just search CZcams for your favorite recipes with dairy free alternatives? There's plenty cooking channels that have that. Vegan channels often have great dairy free recipes too. Spiciness is personal and something you can add or remove based on preference. Basically, there's no reason to beg Mindy to do something special when you've already got tons of options.
@@NicoleK8agree. I can't eat onions or peppers, everyone cooks with them. I just leave it out. ❤
I feel like the cheese grits and chicken would make a great meal for entertaining! Is the tequila taste strong after the chicken is cooked? I was also wondering if you have been to her restaurant? We live in the DFW area of Texas and we go there at least once a year. Her restaurant is AMAZING but the coffee and bakery upstairs is the best. If you ever go get the spicy cowgirl iced coffee. You’ll thank me I promise!
I could not taste the tequila much at all in the chicken, it was super mild. At least compared to a margarita! LOL. Funny enough, I have not been out to Pawhuska. People come from all over the country to visit there, and here I am an hour away and I've never been!
Hi Mindy, if you happen to chat with your neighbor lol would you ask her to start making her jarred sauces again bc my husband does not like any pasta sauce except hers LOL 😉Signed, your neighbor to the south 😁
"What's a grit?" If you know, you know....
Close to $7.00 for a cake seems really high considering you can get a mix on sale for a little over a dollar. It may not be quite as good as homemade but it’s good enough if you’re really on a budget.
I can't get cake mixes anymore for that price here. $1.50 is as low as I see them, and then I still need eggs, oil, and frosting. 🤷♀️
Be careful with those Chipotle peppers! A little goes a loooong way! Start with less and add more according to your spicy eat tolerance.
So true. I probably should have just used 2, the soup definitely had a little kick. :)
True! When she said she was using three I was like woo that’s gonna be hot!
Limes are $1 each in Hawaii 😢
wow! I will admit, I benefit from living in the middle of the country. Lots of access to fresh produce in season.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I'd love to go to her restaurant!
Heavy whipping cream and bacon is not budget friendly for me at all.😕
If you live near Kroger stores or their many affiliates, they have very good stock up prices on bacon. 🥓
