The ref should have a press conference after every game and people should be able to ask them about the calls that they make like that they can explain the calls and they can also be accountable for calls that they make
That's the best idea I've ever heard
Nah it will cause media outrage and turmoil
No because that would require accountability and the nfl could never handle that
Lol they'd actually have to be paid like refs for that
That would expose a few things behind the scenes at the NFL
AJ just sitting and watching them dance is hilarious 🤣
It felt awkward to him watching other men dancing

When that music hits and they all start dancing is hilarious!!! Keep killing it Pat!!
The saddest part of the LV v DAL game wasn’t just that there were so many penalties but that a penalty ultimately decided a really good game.
There’s no telling how many times I watched the Vegas left tackle drive a Dallas defender into the ground or had the guy in a choke hold and it didn’t get called until the 4th quarter. Tht guy alone committed 15 holding penalties and only got called for it twice. All the penalties were primarily against Dallas until the 4th quarter.
The WR blatantly holding the CBs head into him preventing him from doing anything else and there’s a DPI call, raiders were like 3/12 on 3rd down conversions but had like 6 penalties extending their drives, ridiculous
Are you taking about the PI call that was a decent call, or the false start call that was terrible?
@@censorshipshit talking about the wr blatantly dragging the CB into him then throwing his hands up for a PI, these guys are like flopping as bad as NBA players do
@@llGhost1ll let's be real, there was awful calls for both teams. I have no skin in Thursdays game so I can look at it from a non bias standpoint. Have you ever seen a false start in your life because a center snapped his head which they do on every play????
The NFL is doing all it can to make refs the focal points of games. CLAHNS
The las Vegas referees vs Dallas Cowboys
Nfl turning into wwe. Trying to keep divisions close, making later games more important and getting higher ratings that way
@@population-_-420 that’s why there were 14 penalties per team
Foreal man!
Actually it's the refs who do that
AJ convinced me that the nfl needs to invest in full time employed refs. It's ridiculous how inconsistent they are. Sure some are better than others and of course mistakes happen and there will be missed calls but to have this amount of incompetence is embarrassing and frustrating
The NFL makes billions and billions and they can't afford full time refs? Ridiculous.
Full time refs 40 hrs a week ref meetings/school with the rule book and videos on what they want called and what they shouldn’t call than every offseason depending on how your graded you have a 2-3 month training with at least 2 weeks focusing on any rule changes I mean they have all the money to do this make them all full time 10 month employees
I mean what are the full-time referees going to do for most of the year? Just endlessly train? Go over the rulebook? They have a life too you know. The NFL season is way shorter than all of the other major leagues. Only takes 6 or 7 months and most of them are in the fall and early winter.
@@thephoenixxm4160 there average pay 200k a year from just being refs they can at least put the effort into do a better job
If the NBA is any indication, having refs be full time doesn’t always fix anything
That dance party was next level
Should do it more often
Needs Boom Box Brock
Call Mella and Truth, let's get us a real and official.......
DANCE BREAK!!!!!!!!
The NFL needs to take a page out of the NBA's book and stop calling the game so tight and let the players play. Call the obvious P.I and roughing the QB calls, but they're both being overly called and it really hurts the game
Remember when Shaq cursed in a post-game interview? “People pay good money to come out here and these refs are trying to take over the fuckin’ game!” Yeah, he was right then and the NFL is going in that direction as I type this comment.
I agree 100%!!!
The Bills Saints game you could get away with anything. Josh Allen got headbunted after the play right in front of the refs.
The Ravens and Joe Flaco basically won a super bowl using PI's 💀😂
@@CaptCovfefe515 Shaq...we're on live
The fact that refs are not full time employees blows my mind when you're talking about how much money the NFL makes
Ive said this for years!!! How is it that they make so much money and so much money is bet on the games and its called and controlled by refs that aren’t full time employees. Common sense says refs could /are probably easily be paid off by almost anyone for not even big amount of 💰
NFL is also classified as a non-profit, let that sink in!
Dont get it twisted though… refs make an insane amount of money
Yeah I can only laugh when an owner like Jerry Jones whines about officiating. The owners could easily fix this if they wanted to.
2:15 PAT made me spit my entire drink on my PC 😂😂😂😥 they were T'd
Had to rewind a few times😂😂
They should get full time referees, one that they continously train, review the tapes and calibrate. Or just have every call be reviewed onscreen.
Totally agree, it’s long overdue & just plain ridiculous & has been for years, what’s it going to take to get real pro refs that are full time focused like it’s their real job & they are held accountable?
Bad calls are bad outcomes for a multi-billion dollar sport!
@@thedarkemissary NFL is a multi billion a year organization that uses tax dollars to build their stadiums, owns exclusive TV rights on multiple networks multiple days of the week and gets royalties from every media, marketing, printing outlet in the country. They can afford to give their refs a salary to ensure high quality gameplay.
didnt with the last nfl ref contract ref's get paid an avg of $205k. Not sure why this is considered a part time job and has no accoutability. They do not need people doing it part time from another job. Let people comfortable with making $205k for half year of work do it. Pretty simple
@@thedarkemissary So up the money! The NFL can afford it. They already get paid over 200K for this part time job. If they want to keep good refs and offer them stability then pay them for their time so they can spend more time in the off season training. They are hated if they do it part time or full time so that won't change. Who cares? The NFL can afford it and if it improves the product then were good to go.
@@thedarkemissary I didn't miss the point, your point was just incredibly dumb. NFL officiating has been suffering from a lack of experience for the last 5-8 years since alot of their more talented amd experienced refs retired. Add to that the fact that increased camera quality has identified clear cases of invalid penalties which have continued to influence the result of games at an ever increasing rate. So...to your point...did those teams deserve the majority of penalties allotted? Yes. Were some of them pure BS? Also yes. The NFL knows its a problem, the NFLPA knows its a problem, and fans know its a problem. If the solution is to pay refs more money to make them full time well than so be it. The NFL can afford it.
The fact that the refs can even throw flags for someone saying something shows how sensitive they are. Nobody can criticize them or they get fined. They don't have to speak to the media to answer for their calls. They are the most protected bunch out of any group and they have the most say in games. Ridiculous
I mean for fuck's sakes, they threw a flag towards Clyde Edwards-Helaire all for pointing at a defender, but won't throw a flag for pulling on Fenton's and Mahomes' face masks. The NFL's officiating is a joke lmao
28 ACCEPTED penalties... there were even MORE
5 were declined so 33 total calls.
This show, my god, you gotta expect the unexpected lol
The fact that the ref bumped the Chicago player and then flag him a few weeks ago without major headlines or a firing proves the games are controlled. Been watching football since Joe Namath and I can say with confidence, the NFL'S best days are in the past.
You've been watching longer than I, by about a decade (though that still make's me older than most, on this platform). And lemme say from my generation: this statement is 100% correct.
At some point, there can be TOO many rules and regulations. They are taking the spirit, the soul, out of the game and turning it into another sport entirely. It make's me miss the 80's and 90's - even with the player strike's and inconsistent league representation.
It is sad.
Ever notice this only happens in close games? Did you see this happen in the Bills/Saints game? No because they know they cant affect the outcome. Sports gambling was taboo 10 years ago now all you see is gambling website commercials everywhere. No coincidence im sure....
@@axe2grind244 maaan, I wish this wasn't a possibility. But, you're right: it is most egregious in the close games. And the sports gambling adds are EVERYWHERE
That is awesome to be able to say. Im jealous tbh.
When do you think the NFL took a turn for the worse? 80's, ?90's?, 2000's ? 2010's? Just curious what you think with as long as you've been watching.
@@bbwpounder59 That's a very good question. My best guess is ever since Roger Goodell became commissioner. The 60's 70's 80's and 90's were magical decades.
I had a problem with I believe Superbowl 40 when Seattle was screwed by the refs against the Steelers that's when I started noticing a slow change to the league. Also now with all the legal gambling I believe it comes down to greed and money as the game's integrity has been dissolving.
Forgot to mention when the Raiders were screwed against New England when Charles Woodson sacked Brady and "The tuck rule" was announced. I forgot about that incident. That's when the red flags started coming out.
My personal favorite was the false start that was called on the Raiders center for literally, bobbing his head to look between his legs... like every center on every play in every game. Even Romo was like "uh, wut?" The Cowboys/Raiders game was easily the most entertaining game of the day, but it was AGONIZING how bad and inconsistent the officiating was, against BOTH teams. Sapped a lot of the fun out of it.
It was dumb against both teams, but that's just so they can claim fairness. "Yeah, I know those 3rd and long, hail Mary PI calls were bad. But look, we made a bad false start penalty on the other team so it makes up for it."
@@ironphill911 Bingo. “Yeah we gave the Cowboys a PI in the end zone on perfect coverage in the first half that put the Raiders on the 1... Yeah we overturned a catch fumble that was obviously a catch fumble... Yeah we gave a BS roughing the passer call... Sure we called holding on Pollard’s big run... but we gave the Raiders a few inconsequential false starts to even it out.”
@@ironphill911 that's exactly what they do. They dog one team the entire game and after the game is out of reach or atleast looks like it's out of reach they start calling phantom calls to make it look normal at the end of games. Fact of the matter is the penalties against the Raiders wasn't debilitating like they were for the Cowboys. They didn't have big plays erased or points taken off the board as a matter of fact they had the opposite. Cowboys got big plays taken away the Raiders made big plays with the help of the refs. There was a drive where the Raiders got 1st downs on 4 consecutive 3rd and 10 or more yards to go in the same drive. What's worse is they were the same play all 4 times, throw it deep make contact 1st down. Literally was one of the worst games I've ever seen. A false start doesn't compare to what Dallas had to deal with the entire game.
Last question how is it not facemask when the defender literally rips the guys helmet off and throws it 20ft out of bounds. If he had some air under it a fan would if got a souvenir to take home.
@@uneedamuracle that false start call was huge wtf are you talking about. Also it's not a subjective call like the others. It was literally just wrong. It stopped a likely scoring drive and prevented them from running more clock. If Dak could hit wide open receivers it all wouldn't be an issue.
The refs are going to the superboooowl!!
The only guarantee in this league. 😂 😂 😂
I hope not 🚫
What's best is that they were allowed to say (with profanity) what the players, coaches and owners can't without getting steep fines.... keep up the good work Pat!
It really looked like the refs were manipulating the game by throwing flags at critical times of the game and by not throwing flags at other points of the game just let them play holding occurs on every play there was 0 consistency
THIS
💯
Parson’s being held allllllllll game.
I bet on the Boys and was beyond pissed at the calls, but according to the rules Brown was committing PI. However it seems so cheap that a team can throw a deep ball, the QB can under-throw it, and that team automatically gets a 50 yd play.
@@vegasvandough So was mad max
When this happens, a coach needs to take their team off the field, and head right in the locker room.
The NFL would see that and the amount of fines that would come for that franchise would have to be staggering. They would have to set a precedent that this will never happen again lol.
Both teams would've left by the second quarter
The fines and probably take a 1st and 2nd round pick.
And let the refs grant you a forfeit, and subject the franchise to fines & loss of picks (assets for trades)? I'm sure the owner would *love* for that to be the hill his team dies on.
@@callmeshaggy5166 better to die by that level than to be crushed by bogus ass calls being called consistently because refs took the game over. It didn’t matter either way the calls were egregiously terrible and only one team actually paid for it. Five first downs off of penalties is staggering.

I stopped watching the NFL in week 5. These refs are deciding 80% of the games. With the gambling industry being what it is, I'm sure there is dirt all over the place. I rather watch the NBA and I hate basketball 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I have the same impression some times too this year. I see the exact same things from both teams. One gets called every time and the other gets away with it.
This Raiders Cowboys game wasn't like that. They called it the same on both sides.
I thought that once I saw the titans who were ranked 2nd in power ranking midway thru the season were beat by the winless jets and the 1-8 Texans. Then the cowboys get beat by the Broncos and the the eagles beat the Broncos by almost 20 but if u look back the cowboys beat the eagles by 20 week 3. I’m starting to think that the games are rigged. It gives the nfl all the leverage with bets having the refs be part time.
@@MB-ln4yx look, you can't script a game. That's just impossible. However, refs can tip the balance in close games. That's what's happening, unintentionally or intentionally. That said, Vegas isn't going to allow large scale rigging because they'll notice the losses to their bottom line.

Pat McAfee is a certifiable fool, and I love every bit of it.
If a QB threw for as many yards as the officials had penalty yards you'd say the QB had a great game.
I am from west texas and a lifelong cowboys fan and the refs ruined that game. The calls were bad for both teams. Horrible.
I love the idea of former players being refs, Full time, high paid ,(a mill a year) then hold them accountable
A million a year seems a bit ridiculous... But a FT job for former players where they make 6 figures is not a bad idea.
I know the week is going to be awesome when the first thing I see on a Monday morning is Pat dancing like a geek
Hands down this is a top ten PMS 2021 moment ! Hell of a show Pat & the boys
Say what you want about the low-scoring game, but the Lions got completely screwed over!! I've never seen 3 calls back-to-back at the very end of the 4th quarter & on stuff that didn't impact the play... Those calls (on what would've been the final possession) changed the game's outcome!! (Bears won w/ an FG as time ran out after those wild calls gave the ball.)
I only watched the last Bears GW drive. Dan Campell trying to call back to back timeouts and playing 10 yds soft coverage on 3&4 with 1st down being game over is not a good looks for the coaches.
How about last years Super Bowl?
@@senli8911 Dan Campbell didn't call back to back timeouts. His defensive coordinator called the 2nd timeout. The refs weren't supposed to accept the 2nd TO so they got screwed on that call as well.
@@senli8911 agreed. Dan is a good coach. He will learn from this misery with arguably the worst talented team in the league, while getting the most production from his players. I don't usually like to blame the refs either, but in the past, it's been "oh man, that one call in the 4th quarter really screwed us". This year they've completely taken over every game. It's starting to look like basketball. There's a flag on every play and guys are flopping to get the call.

I'm a die hard raider fan. There was bad calls both ways. I'm just happy after 20 years of garbage tuck rule, measuring 1sts with index cards, and late game pi calls made by refs from the opposite side of the field. I'm happy that some calls finally went our way
I'm a Cowboy fan and I remember the index card. 😂. The games are rigged I'm afraid. I don't get emotionally involved anymore; I actually feel good today better than most Cowboy fans. The game has been ruined; may as well make it flag football. I remember when it was football! Your Raiders with John Madden as coach got screwed more than once in the 70's by those damn Steelers. The Raiders got their ass back in 1976. The good ol' days

How the owners do not strangle Roger every week over the poor Refs is a complete mystery to me. The worst games are prime time, Steelers vs Bears was the worst till the Cowboys yesterday. And I’m a Steelers fan and I was pissed about all the flags on the Bears! It’s close to making me stop watching them live and just check out the highlights.
The center head nod false start was terrible, Romo explained it pointed it out on the next play, showed that these refs just want to watch the world burn
Yeah that call was BS
Same thing happened vs the packers on a critical play this past week.
I only wish I had as much fun at my job as Pat does as his!! Love this show.
I love ur show, just the amount of pure honesty is refreshing in a sports news/entertainment era when everyone seems to be afraid to say negative things towards the NFL/Officiating and just be absolutely on point and honest with what u really see, feel and believe. Keep it up guys!!! The only show I watch consistently. I will be getting more involved with the subscription end when I'm employed again. You hiring Big Pat Mcafee??😎👍
AJ is right that it's getting worse, but it's on purpose on my opinion. They are blatantly ignoring be technology and any recommendations on how to fix it. So I figure with all the money they have in these big games and now gambling it wouldn't surprise me to see them use this as a was to get certain match ups in the finals.
I would like to see the number of times offensive line is called for holding on 1st and 2nd down compared to 3rd down. It seems its almost always on 3rd down and only when the offense gets the yards needed to convert. The same stuff they call on 3rd down could easily be called every other play but they reserve that call in order to make a game more "entertaining". I dont think games can be fixed but, the refs sure do their part to keep the spread in favor of betting lines
You honestly dont think games can be fixed? We live in an era where ANYONE can bet on any game from anyplace in the world with as much money as they possibly want(provided they have it). I wanna see a THOROUGH INVESTIGATION into the bank accounts of these refs. If the refs can bet on games(and believe me they can find a way these days), then fixing is as easy as making the calls to ensure your team wins and thus, the spread is covered.
Love this segment, but RIP to all us on headphones at work lol
This is y this show is the best. Don’t care what they say or do they just have fun while talking sports, it makes it genuine
NFL Refs make the game unwatchable.
The refs are the 3rd team. They need to be more involved. They are as talented as the star players. They can make or break a big play with a terrible call. As a Raiders fan, there were so many bad calls on both sides and watching that game was a pain! There were holding calls that weren't holding, holding plays that weren't called, that last pass interference confused me, the other ones made sense for the most part but those refs need to get fined!
@@J_Caban we're 7-4 and I meant they suck at penalties
The refs should’ve been wearing raiders jerseys. The officials helped them score 21 points kept drive after drive alive. Raiders had 14 too but not in crucial moments like Dallas did. It was sickening and blatantly biased.
That OT flag the ball was under thrown and the WR wrapped his arms around the corners head. But they “missed” BACK TO BACK Defensive interference against the cowboys TE on the cowboys last drive of regulation.
Yeah, that bs call on raiders center that sent it to OT didn't matter. Cmon man.
@@jiismo he literally moved his head cmon dude
@@wowwzer1842 have you never watched or played football? Literally center moves his head all the time. Daggum Romo mentioned next play what a BS call it was.
@@wowwzer1842 center moves his head like that every play 😆
There is no way on this earth that Pat goes to the club and gets down like that 😭🤣🤣🤣😭🤣🤣🤣😭
Glad yall address this. I'm sick of Refs giving games away.
