Cracking list. The Arran Quarter Cask Bothy will probably be my next cask strength purchase. Cheers.

That 105 is great value isn’t it. The rest I haven’t had. My last CS OB purchase was glenlivet núderra FF and that was less than £50 . As always a good enjoyable video 👍🥃 cheers.

The Arran Quarter Cask is outstanding. It's brother the Sherry Cask Bodega is a perfect companion bottle. I buy them together whenever possible.

How long does it take for a bottle of Scotch whisky to open up after the cork is poppet ? This has become a very interesting topic of exploration for me as some whiskies seem to open up to a beautiful profile in just 2 months and yet others seem almost pour down the drain in the first year and then after two years of being open and half bottle its a total transformation. This seems totally illogical but I have been experiencing this multiple times and cannot find ant video presentations on the subject. Can you shed any light on this phenomena and or produce a video presentation on this hard to find subject?....Thank you for all your great presentations thus far....Slainte!

To be honest the way prices are going now I was surprised you could come up with a top 5 at this price point for cask strength. Kudos to you and the companies involved.
I'm actually over the argument for and against NAS and age statements. I don't much care as long as it tastes good, and there has been an effort to make it so. The Classic Laddie is a non age statement and was in some ways my gateway into whisky drinking, all my preconceived ideas of what an Islay malt was supposed to be was blown away. It was what was needed at the time to break my own ill informed stereotypes to open myself up to drinking Scotch. The 105, another non age statement whisky, was my first dabble at higher strengths.

Ah yes! A good one. However, I had to keep them OB's --- might do an independent cask strength for £50 or less. What do you think?

Love the review and the idea but.....are all of these cask strength? The abv is quite low which would suggest age or watered down. Considering the NAS status we can assume youth which suggests watered down. Not that I care and the challenge for you was to get £50 or lower from distillery bottles. The mystery Islay malts do a lot of heavy duty strength NAS around the £50 but they are uncompromising youthful peat bombs. The Arran is interesting because we have an age. Glenfarclas 105 used to be 12 years but no more and it's a search to find it below £50.
Great review which touches on some whisky history. A few years ago, when the online whisky world came alive, everybody was jumping on big age statements. Old Welsh Toro was okay with that but continued to sell the idea of great young whisky that has a vitality lost in older expressions. Old whisky affords bragging rights which are problematic in my opinion. I'm still a purist and would be perfectly happy to buy whisky with a very low age statement and full transparency.
Bravo on the tache which could develop into anything I guess. I belong to the men's facial hair club like you - Old school. Peace. WT

Other than the Clynelish (which I mentioned) all the other whiskies on the list are confirmed cask strength. Like you I am also happy to buy young whiskies with vitality as long as they taste nice. As always, good to have you around!
