    Big follower here, channel offers something at least “different” to others, you’ve hit de nail. Let alone that fm radio type of voice 👍
    I’d like to hear more of a bluesy riffs and solo in your performance, I know you’re more like a shredder and you’ve proved it easy, but in some type of guitars, those good old riffs and licks would bring an audience (like me) that we enjoy a bit more rock and roll
    Thank you amigo !

    I picked up one of these from Guitars Garden, black with the Iommi-style cross inlays. It was gone off the site the same day and hasn't come back so I don't know if they sold out or had to stop selling them, but I got mine. I had been looking at an Epi SG but couldn't get past the fact that it had "lesser" specs but a much higher price, and both are made in China. And, those cross inlays are so sweet.

    I received my first FF yesterday, this guitar but with the three pickups. I dont really have a older model to compare it to, but the one I received was flawless. And I mean flawless. Except for a little polishing compound on the ends of the beautiful stainless, ball end, polished to mirror finish, frets. I'm not a shill, but DAMN how can they sell these so cheap? Insanely happy with my purchase! Thank you Max for turning me on to Firefly!

    I bought 2 of these in Red a week ago, They are great out of the box, the only cons about it is they should have put the strap button on the horn, but I already decided before I got it I would fix that, the only other thing is it may need intonation set some. also may need some fret end work on some, one of mine will catch the string if you accidentally bend it over the board.

      @zuperdee Před 2 měsíci

      Impressive?!? So is the neck joint on the Firefly FFLG stronger than on a real Gibson SG? SGs are NOTORIOUS for having weak neck joints that can flex and crack with great ease.

      @user-my8cq7ww2x Před 2 měsíci

      @@zuperdee not sure what's up with the "Impressive?!?" 🤔... as though you feel I'm not entitled to my opinion. I toured with a Gibson SG for years, so I'm familiar with SG's... and Gibson guitars in general. BTW, any guitar with an angled headstock is going to be prone to breaking at the headstock... I'm familiar with this as well, all it takes is tripping over your guitar cable in the practice space and your guitar falling off its stand... ask me how I know.

    • @zuperdee
      @zuperdee Před 2 měsíci

      @@user-my8cq7ww2x Not at all saying you aren’t entitled to your opinion! I’m just curious, because I’d be pleasantly surprised if the Firefly FFLG neck joint were stronger than Gibson’s, which is certainly possible-many Les Paul clones have better headstock designs less prone to breakage, too. PRS headstocks are also almost immune to headstock breakage, since they have something like a 10-11 degree angle instead of the ridiculous 17 degree angle that Gibson uses. Some Gibsons have also tried to strengthen the headstock with a volute, but then for some reason that nobody has been able to explain properly to me, some people then complain about the volute… Why some people wouldn’t want a technically proven superior neck/headstock joint is unfathomable to me.

    Could be "Tv - yellow" as well which originally was famous from Gibson. In the days of Black & White Tv they looked white, but they did not shine too much to be an eye sore.
    I wonder if stainless steel strings are cheaper to manufacture than nickel steel. I think stainless steel has chromium in it instead of nickel. Pretty much the same way when chromium replaced
    nickel as the finishing layer.

    Am I wrong (I'm not a guitar snob; I promise.) or is that Tune-o-matic-style bridge slightly angled? I paused it and looked at it closely because the body is slightly offset. But the bridge is not straight with the bridge pickup. The distance between the two is tapering from the low E to the high E.

    • @zuperdee
      @zuperdee Před 2 měsíci

      That is correct. Tune-o-Matic bridges SHOULD be angled slightly from low-E to high-E. In fact, this is true of nearly ALL guitar bridges, with the exception of Fender-type bridge designs, which have a lot more adjustment space than ToM-type bridges. (Nashville-type ToM bridges have slightly more adjustment space than ABR-1 type ToM bridges, but that’s a whole separate discussion.)

    The SG was designed as a jazz guitar in the early 60's but gained quite a stellar reputation as a rock and roll guitar for many well know guitar legends in the later half of the decade. Maybe Clapton should have stayed with his psychedelic Gibson SG and not switched to his Stratocaster. I find the strat body shape more comfortable and natural to play for myself and is my preferred body style for an electric guitar.

    • @zuperdee
      @zuperdee Před 2 měsíci

      Some would say that the SG is easier to play than a Strat, since it has unimpeded access to virtually ALL of the frets, compared to the blocky neck joint of the Strat, and they love the overdriven sounds of the humbuckers, compared to a Strat.

    • @strangeuniverse1199

      @@zuperdee Well it seems the biggest fans of Gibson SG guitars are the people that first started out on this model of guitar(Angus Young, Tony Iommi). I had a Gibson SG once that sounded terrible. The wood in the guitars body did not resonate correctly for some reason. It sounded like a plank of wood with strings. I have 3 import SG style guitars now and they all sound fine, nothing wrong with them.

  • @admgloval

    Is there an issue with the string slipping off the edge of the frets/fretboard with those ball end frets? It seems like the string would constantly slip off the edge.

    • @zuperdee
      @zuperdee Před 2 měsíci

      I have a Firefly FFTL with ball end frets here, and in my experience, there is absolutely NO issue with strings slipping off the edge of the frets. If you look closely enough, you’ll see that the frets are SLIGHTLY inconsistent in their lengths, and yes, they don’t quite project right up to the very edge of the fretboard, but they’re VERY close, so it’s NOT an issue for playability whatsoever. The ball end stainless steel frets are WONDERFUL for feel and playability.

The one I have w Stainless is way high frequency and has too much pick attack. Fortunately thats just what a Pine body needs so I paired them. Sounds great. I had it on 2 or 3 Ash bodys and it was too much of a good thing. On the + side , fret wear isn't a problem. Regardless of which side of TONEWOOD you're on, a bright body and neck will be to much unless thats what you want.
