I worked with Nokie writing his life story in a book named "Cherokee Smoke" for the better part of 10 years. I learned to play guitar listening to Nokie and The Ventures back in 1962. Always admired his genius but working on his life story made me his true friend. Rest in Peace my friend. I wish we had many more adventures than we did...in the next life
The Great Nokie Edwards ! You still rockin' after all theses years and you're an inspiration to me. Thanks to you and the Ventures for your music !. 😉👍🎼🎶🎸🎸🎸
Nokie just got better and better every year he played . He was one of the very best. There were so many songs running around in that head that he played over the last 60 years , but he didnt forget a one . My only criticism is that he just didnt like to use reverb and effects . Bob Bogle was very good at creating a great sound. I found out that half of Bobs great sound was the Fender Jazzmaster . I just bought a Squire Classic 60 and it really sounds like Bob Bogles Jazzmaster . I always wanted a Strat , but 73 years old I wish I had the Jazzmaster when I was playing in our band . We will miss Bob and Nokie , Don and Mel. They were really the backbone of Beach music .
So true about Nokie's refusal to use some effects. Man, it would've been great to hear him put a spring reverb tank through its paces. I guess he just wanted his playing to speak for itself in a dry signal, and it sure did!
Painfully obvious. Nokie needs more than a rockabilly band! He got through it well though. I would have been massively distracted from all missing chords.

Is your book still available, Larry?
I'd like to purchase some copies. Thanks!
I just loved this very 'lively performance' every moment....thanks for the video-upload.
