Been doing a difficult puzzle, so while doing it I decided to watch your videos to help me through the frustration. Was doing it from a newspaper and had numbers all over the place. Recently started doing sudoku puzzles. I've actually purchased three sudoku puzzle books in the space of 4 or 5 months. I was stuck trying to solve a puzzle maybe one week ago and then I thought you tube might have some useful tutorials, and that's when I came across you. When I'm stuck I go to one of your tutorials and it always helps. I'm not a quitter anymore. Thank you.

I don't know if you are familiar with a new, at least to me, form of sudoko. It consists of the usual 9x9 grid, completely blank, except for a series of dotted lines within the squares. Each set of cells joined by the dotted lines must add up to the target number in its top left corner.
These dotted line cells fill the grid completely.
So for example if you label the columns A-I and the rows 1-9 you could have squares A1,B1,C1,A2 adding to 20.
D1,E1,E2 =20, B2,C2=11 etc.

My general go to method is to eliminate the obvious first, then look in the order of 1-3-5-7-9-2-4-6-8. I don’t know why that works for me but it does. Once the notes sort themselves out to a point I start filling in those squares, and then go through and fill in what for the most part are self explanatory spaces.
Hi Stephen If your method works for you go for it, however the time may come when you need my videos particularly for more advanced puzzles.

I have done Sudoko for so many years this is a breeze and would only take as long as it would take for me to write in each number....Easy....Challengers take me more time but the rest are not that hard and the easy ones are boring....I love Jigsaw Sudoko but I have a hard time finding because I complete them so fast. If anyone knows where I can find the Jigsaw I would appreciate it. Also I don't put little numbers or possible in the boxes. I just figure it out.

difficulty rating 2 out of 10. Loads of given digits plus a bunch of naked singles. I finished off several numbers simply by cross referencing them through the grid. no advanced techniques used at all. easy puzzle.
J Bar..you are right . There are many paths to take and it depends on what you see and when and how many tricks you know what to look for.

Thank you for your suggestion. I'm sorry but I just don't have the time. I am at present travelling to a new home in Australia.
I use a Samsung TV sudoku app called "Numeroso" ..now and then.. I really dislike it. The grid layout is always irregular, notation of candidates is not possible, and there is never an exact solution (*two or more pairs always end up mirroring one another so that it doesn't matter how you place them it will still solve the puzzle). The older Samsoku app is a far better game. I wish they had left it alone :/

I have a puzzle that always comes out incorrect no matter how many different ways I aproach it. I don't think it's difficult. I think it's impossible.

I also just recently got into Sudoku watching one of your tutorials by chance. You make everything look so easy. But it definitely is not. I am using the NYT Sudoku puzzles on line and I am having major difficulties when trying to solve "medium" and above. The "easy" one I have mastered with the help of your excellent tutorials but "medium" already proves mostly unsolvable to me. None of the tricks you showed and I have watched are sufficient. There always comes a point were I have to start guessing and surely enough at the end there is at least one square that cannot be covered. Obviously I made the wrong guess. Frustrating.
Yes it can be frustrating when there is a technique or trick you either have not know or not spotted. I suggest you look at my tutorials from about #20 on. Thanks Harald for you comment and hang in there as you practice and look at more tutorials. guessing is not a good idea as many times it doesn't work.
