this is why jurassic park felt so much more real than jurassic world. jurassic parks technology was based in reality, while everything about jurassic world was just super sci fi.
Well considering the fact that the first Jurassic Park did actually feature fictional technology (advanced cloning procedures to bring back dinosaurs to life), and since several years already passed since the park incident, it's all he more reason why the technology I'm Jurassic World would have a more sci-fi look to it.
This was the 90s. Today technology is more state of the art than it was before.
Holograms and clear plate glass touch screens are still pretty sci-fi.
Not that it bothers me. A company that is able to work that kind of magic with genetic modification and cloning could probably hire the researchers to create holograms.

@@619AGT The thing about movies is if you're honest with as much of the film as you can be then the audience can suspend disbelief with one or two other things like cloning dinosaurs. The Jurassic World films are overloaded with nonsense.
Always love it, when there are isolated/perfectly recreated technology-SFX from film.
0:35 I always really enjoyed the little "tune" that came out of the disarming of the fences, each having their own unique tone, to be played a minimum of three times, before cycling to the next. It gave a true sensation of multiple failures occurring and how absolutely F'ed you'd be, finding yourself caught in this situation. Simple, but effective; Pure genius.
Agreed the sound design is super well done. As it is most of Spielberg's movies, the sound effects in Close Encounters and E.T. are also great examples

From the film, I ripped the individual 5 surround-sound channels to minimize unwanted music/effects, then cleaned them up in soundbooth.

Am I the only one who always thought the map of the control room looked like a microscope?
did nedry think he would be back in time to arm the system again or did he just plan to leave them high and dry while he was on a boat?
I think if I remember correctly, it was supposed to buy him an 18 minute window before the system rearmed, but the Park's systems never properly rebooted on their own
I believe it was either the book or some other form of info that said he was planning on being back after making the drop off of the embryos to reset the system
in the novel he planned on being back within 6 min. 3 min to east dock from visitor center then 3min back... never made it

This is fantastic!! I've been writing a VB program to simulate the system from the film for years and this is incredible. Did you actually write an application or is it entirely graphical?

Vehicle headlights are on and they're not responding. They shouldn't be running on car batteries. Item 151 on today's glitch list. We have all the problems of a major theme park and a major zoo, and the computers aren't even on their feet yet.
How did you get all the UI beeps and sounds? Recorded from the movie or were they part of the actual Unix OS the computers used?
Any one else noticed the "Unarmed" label that stays on the 'Fence Failure' screen at 00:37.
And the object lesson is this: When designing a dinosaur park, put a set of vending machines INSIDE the control center.
