To overcome the urge to seek, I began to realize that everything is already inside. From that I have asked to be who I have always wanted to be. Knowing now that all that happens in my reality is what I need. Being present is always the very best way. 🙏
I generally have a hard time feeling gratitude. When I listen to Eckhart, I feel like I am filled with more gratitude than the world can hold.
Appreciate the present moment. That's all it takes.
Of all the absolutely countless billions of stars and planets in the observable Universe there is only one that we know of that defiantly holds life,, and you are lucky to be on it right here right now, not enough? Try this one, the odds against any of us ever being born at all are 404 trillion to 1, yet here we all are having this amazing experience, still struggling? Something somewhere has made everything else possible and without that something there would be no us or anything else 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I started with assigning myself a "gratitude list" every evening, three things from the day. Big, ideas, resources, people, or small, like a cup of coffee, or IDing a new bird. After a few weeks I found myself looking for what I would write down, in my nightly list. I make it a minimum. Sometimes I will do a lovingkindness meditation.
When gratitude is blocked; eliminate the belief that gratitude cannot be experienced 🌀💙🦉

Almost 20 years of marriage now imploding, the woman I married two decades ago has been completely trapped by fear, contempt and bitterness, in her own mind. Fear of the future, perpetual defensiveness and a constant lamenting about the grievances of the past. Nothing ever gets resolved. Anything that gets added to the negative side of her mental ledger, never comes off. Nothing good in her life ever seems to matter and if it does, it isn't for long. Every time she recalls something that injured her ego, no matter how long ago it was, it's as if she is re-traumatized all over again.
She puts on a false face for the rest of the world, which is how I ended up marrying her, but just under that facade is a truly miserable person. Nothing anyone can say or do will ever make a difference for her. She's completely trapped, inside her own ego, and steadily getting worse as she fades into mid-life, or old age, as it were.
It's due to my living with her, trying to make things work and failing, then searching for answers, that I discovered Eckhart Tolle, Alan Watts, Shadguru and Ram Dass.
I have cancer, I'm losing everything I've worked for, all my plans, hopes and aspirations. I'm losing my children, my home, essentially all of my property, and yet I owe my ex-wife a certain debt of gratitude.
At least now, thanks to a change in perception, a shift in values, a stark realization or two - I have a chance to find real peace.
It's such a tragedy that negativity feels so familiar to some of us that we believe it's how life truly is.

@@rainbowgirljules When I first heard Eckhart talk about "unconsciousness" it was an abject moment for me. Call it stark realization.
As long as she lives, this woman I cared so much about for so long, can never be content. Not even for a moment.
Just under the surface, turmoil, poor self image, anxiety, fear, regret, bitterness, frustration and anger and denial define her. She can't ever let go - Loveless and self-absorbed.
What a terrible way to... do life.
It's changed me because now I see it, but in the same breath, I feel terrible because there is nothing anyone can do for her. Not me, you, Jesus Christ or the Sargent Major.
It's like standing helpless and watching someone drown in a foot of water, in a way.
On the other hand, here's to what we can change - I raise my coffee - To your health, contentment and a bountiful life. ☕

Wow. Sounds like she's as addicted to that ego identity as any drug addict. Very difficult for all involved, but at her core she is still the one universal consciousness simply choosing to have that experience in this lifetime.
As I'm discovering for myself, our job is to accept the choices that others make for themselves and learn to release our fear and pity through detachment, trusting in the Divine path of ALL.
Wanting and seeking are egoic modes. Even seeking God or Awakening is an obstacle to finding God. Just Be. Focus the intensity towards the present moment rather than a mental projection
I like that you say "just be". If we are an expression of god, by just being we stop looking outside and we might feel god directly.
When the mind is snared in waking consciousness, all it is aware of is whatever the five senses present - and that constantly changes, making focussing on the present moment either impossible or very difficult. You do have to transcend time, escape linear time. How? Only deep meditation will do that. ET has mentioned Turiya before. That opens up to the eternal where you will find what you are looking for.
A very good reminder that by continually “seeking,” whether it’s God or enlightenment, that is in and of itself probably the last obstacle.
@@kiwimike1405it’s like a muscle…the more you work it, the stronger it gets. I use my five senses to ‘tune in,’ and tune out of my mind’s activity. If I really focus on perceiving life rather than thinking about it (haha) I get there! ❤🎉🙏🦋

The impression at this boys face made me remember the same face, full of satisfaction and joy, 25 years ago in my daughter's face, when she was 4 years old and I read a simple story from a children's book for her and she understood it. Thanks for everything Eckhart., suffered a lot through not knowing there was a narrative, the mental narratives was not recognisable but the feelings were, pain. personalised unconscious behaviour in relationships as reflections of my worth. It was completely demoralising . I wish I found your teachings then but couldn’t see the wood from the trees. Your teachings have helped so much, my mother was a v unwell woman so seemed to go towards only what was known. Presence is like a stroboscopic setting. You know those spinning things that depending on your knob setting will seem to drift to the right, or to the left (thinking of an classic DJ turntable) and when the setting is right, the pattern is no longer drifting right or left but remains steady even though everything else is spinning.
Haha! Reminds me of the strobe light my brother made about 55 years ago out of a model airplane engine and a circle cut from a cereal box! Thankfully for me even if my mind gets activated I'm aware of that presence that I am. FINALLY😊

Excellent Topic Professor Eckhart! In Avatar: season 2: episode 19: titled “ The Guru” , the illusion of separation is discussed. Water, Earth, Fire and Air are all connected. Are people essentially connected? This is ambiguous because everyone’s soul has a different genetic sequence. We have a disposition which has been formed through “ A Priori” & “ A Posteriori” expérience. This world is in constant strife and turmoil because people govern themselves in entirely different ways. Consequently, separation is no longer an illusion but a “ fact.”

I was told that as long as there is an "I" that seek/ want disseperation then there will be always separation. Because there is always a feeling that "I have achieved something, I succeeded" etc, so in essence still being seperated.
I love these. Going through some of these changes and listening to others trying to describe the same makes me want to laugh… I mean some of these gurus (especially the real ones that actually want freedom for all and not just manifestations of things for their followers) must want to laugh at least sometimes. They will most likely understand via their own experience but listening makes me see how silly we really can be. It’s hilarious… of course then I loose myself and I can end up back into well wishing for myself so no I cannot moque them.. but at laughing at them (which equals laughing at myself) feels appropriate.😅 it’s a way of actually letting go even for a moment. Like OMG I am still a child begging for satisfaction and so is this person. I get it.

God hear my prayers. Having two sons with special needs is overwhelming at times because they require so much from me. As a single mother things are difficult. I keep faith in you Jesus even as I struggle to pay rent, and as I struggle to buy groceries for my sons. Every month is a battle. I want to give up yet God gives me strength. Faith is my strength.💕

First, this "then" implies a future now, but not the present now.
Second, even though one can try living in acceptance, it doesn't imply that awakening will happen immediately. It will happen sometime later-in a future now, if it happens at all.

The question Eckhart never addresses is this: who is making the choice between universal awareness and the separate self? The fact that there is a choice implies that there must be a third entity (decision maker) doesn't it?
You asked a valid inquiry. It essentially depends on how you categorize “ free will.” “ If you choose not to decide , you still have made a choice.” ( Rush: Freewill)
