Who's running Lithium's out there? Comment below on what brand your running!
Monster Marine
Ionic for trolling and lead acid cranking. Ionic charger for both no issues so far around 6 months.
Millertech lithium batteries
Dakota…3 12v 100ah for trolling motor and 1 1000cca 135ah cranking battery…great system!
3 Battle born
Ionic...Best price and service All A cell battery.
Team Marine TV checking in! 👍🏻
Just subbed to that channel as well now you have 730 subs as of 2 mins ago. I think I made it 730 or 731... Idk🤦♂️😂🤣✌️💪🦅🇺🇲..
Looking for a video on the pros and cons of bypassing the oil injection system on a 2003 mercury EFI and converting to mixing gas. Can’t find any was hoping y’all can do one. Could anything go wrong by doing this? Will it help improve the reliability and longevity of the engine? I am about to buy a bullet with this motor and just want another opinion.
@@colebovia9472 yes! I would like to see a video or at least hear some feedback about this! I've got a 2005 Stratos were the 225 Yamaha and I've been wanting to do the same thing just out of fear that the oil injection system would go out.. but everybody I've talked to said that always keep a bag full of good spark plugs in the boat if I wanted to do that!! Idk.. would like to hear some feedback from the professionals about that situation for sure
I've been running a Lithium Pro for 2 years now. Glad I made the switch!
Did you replace (3) AGM/Lead with (1) 36v lithium?
Running all Ionic blue lithium’s! They have a bluetooth app so you can keep track of power usage, charging time everything!
I'm running 3 of the 75ah Relion lithium batteries for my trolling motor. It really helped the hole shot on my old Triton TR21X. Also I updated chargers to the NOCO Genius Genpro10x4 charger to charge my AGM cranking battery, and 3 lithium batteries.
I’ve ran Miller Tech batteries, 12 volt in a 24v system for two years. Worth every penny. They have there own charges system. Biggest thing Is don’t over charge. I now run a timer to the charger to be sure it’s off in two hours. Average charge time after a long day is three hours
Monster, Lithium Pro, Relion and Dakota are my favorites
Give Adrian Avena a call and ask him what he thinks is the Best out there.
Great information. I switched from Optima Blue top AGM's to Battle Born Lithium batteries (2 - 24 volt system) and couldn't be happier. I saved a total of around 60 lbs and I never have to worry about running out of power during the day. The bonus is they are much easier to pull out of the boat when I place it into winter storage.
I've been running ionic lithiums with minn kota charger for a year now, no issues love them
The weight difference would be great for the guys running tin rigs. I personally have the RT188 with the 115. If I could save that much weight it would be a game changer! Andy always coming in clutch with the knowledge! SPEED MONEY NO BRAKES!
Hands down best lithium battery is Battleborn. Built in Reno, NV. RV industry has gone to them and no problems.
Glad he addressed the chargers, if you don’t have a charger that can handle lithium it won’t do the job. They charge higher than lead acid, agm, gel.
Been running 3 50ah and 1 125ah ionics for nearly a year. Absolutely love em.
Do you live in a cold climate? These ionics I've read don't have a cold weather shut off.. I'm worried living in Minnesota and fishing in the cold that ur not supposed to recharge well its cold or it could damage the battery.
@Christian Schultz Wisconsin. If it got that cold I'd figure something out. I
I was wanting a lithium battery but was not sure what to buy. After watching your video I ordered a Monster 36v for my Ultrex. Thank you for the video
I've been thinking about going with the Titan 36 from Monster. You've just sold me on it Andy! Great video Team!!!
As a Fireman, Andy is 100% correct. Never have any Discharge when charging lithium. Isolate them and have a GOOD charger. Treat the batteries right and you will be a believer.
#truth
Soo this is exactly why my relions blew up on me- I had 2 go bad in less than a week. Relion blamed the power pole charge- charge blamed the battery. I replaced relion with powerhouse lithium which has its own app and I can see what the charge is actually doing to the battery. During charging the charge discharges the 12v lithiums to correct a non existing imbalance - creating a real imbalance and thus creating a never ending cycle of discharge while charging and NEVER allowing the batteries to get to 100%
@@incognito7018 So what was the solution? Throw the Power-Pole Charge in the lake?
@NytronX dealer forced a refund- swapped to a minkota charger . Done with power pole forever
Edit- alot of fuckery from powerpole and no solutions offered, they acknowledged they knew aboit thr problem but werent notifying customers of the danger to theier batteries...extremely disappointed with their customer service - thus why I'm never buying from them again
@@incognito7018 Good to know. Power-pole is a joke with their Blades as well. The pump units aren't even mildly water resistant, let alone waterproof, and they're suppose to be put in a bilge/splashwell area. Terrible design, when you google about it nothing but people having the same issues.
Great video! I am using 2 100ah Impulse lithium with Bluetooth app for Ultrex and haven’t gotten them below them below about 60 percent even in high winds and high current for hours. Still use a blue top optima for motor since it is in great shape. The Noco charger has been great for all batteries since you can change the charger settings for each battery.
I'm running HOE Hennessey outdoors electronics made lithium Batts 36v and 2 12 v they work perfect!!! Brigg and his guys hooked them up they make them in house all have built in switches to protect your motor if something was to happen. Iv been super happy also run the power pole charge. I can fish for days without having to plug in.
Had a Relion for a starting battery with an older 2 stroke. The issue was the protection circuit disconnects the battery if it detects a voltage/current problem. Once that happened, it disconnects. That causes the voltage regular to fry (same as disconnecting a battery while the motor is running). Had to switch back to a flooded for the starter and put the lithium up front for electronics. Running 2 Solix 12's all day used 20% capacity.
I have a 1995 XR I mercury and I think I would have the same problem after investigating. I'm glad I didn't do that first. Now that I have heard what you said. Good info
Love my ionics 👍🏻 Yamaha 250 HPDI turning a 27p t1 and the hole shot immaculate. Took out 4 x2 battery’s and replaced them with a 36v and a 12v 125.
was considering 1 36v. ended up with 3 50ah.
I have a 16' smoker craft, I run two 100ah Amperetime lithiums for my trolling motor, and have a group 27 lead acid for my accessories and cranking my Yamaha 30 tiller. All getting charged By a noco 5x3. By getting rid of my two group 31s It dropped over 100 lbs, hole shot is way better, tows better, and gained like 2 mph on top end. I wish I had the money for Dakota, but I've had nothing but good luck with these and they were about half the price. Cool video man.
I just started running Miller Tech cranking and 36 V trolling, along with the Miller Tech Charger! Best investment!
Running Impulse Lithiums with their charge on the go system with great success. One 12V cranking and two 36V for trolling motor. Suzuki 200 motor. Impulse Lithium have blue tooth capability that has worked well and have only plugged into wall once in the last 3 months for charge. On the go charging keeps them topped off.
3 100ah ionics last two years have been awesome. Their charger works well too
Monsters are made here in arkansas super good company love there batterys
Running 3x 50ah ionic for my force... still x2 for cranking with the 4 stroke. Batteries have been fantastic, ran them 14 hours on sturgeon bay sight fishing on the force all day, got down to 35%... only time I've ever seen less than 70%.
Any problems with running Ionic lithium battery for cranking
Great video; appreciate hearing real facts and experience from a service shop. Putting a Minn Kota on my saltwater skiff and have been considering lithium. Now I’m sold!
... 11/16/2022 ...
Monday, 11/14/2022, I removed 3- 12v group 27 wet cell batteries and the 3 bank Minn Kota charger.
I installed a Monster Marine, Lithium, 36V, 50Ah for my Motorguide Xi5 and the Monster Marine 12V and 36V charger.
I reduced the weight by 144.2 lbs from my Triton240 LTS, bay boat center console.
CANNOT wait to use it OTW.
Thanks for the video that helped me see the light.
Love your channel.
. Jeff .
I’m running 4 lithiums 3 for the TM, one for the graphs and using the Minn Kota digital set to AGM which charges them perfectly. I’m running an X2 AGM for cranking/house power and it’s amazing. I think X2 is making lithiums so when these ones I’m running kick I’ll be running X2 pure in the back. Speed Money No Breaks!
What brand lithium you running for TM and what size
Have a monster marine lithium I use as a cranking and accessory battery in my duck boat. Think I’ve had it for 3 or so years now. Bought one because their company is in Arkansas which is where I live. I have loved it. Never have to charge it hardly ever. It gets beat up constantly, like I said it’s in a duck boat in arkansas. I use it to hunt, fish, sandbar ride, all sorts of stuff. My old one had an outboard so wasn’t as bad, but my new one has a mud motor. Swapped it to my new boat after I sold my edge and its taken everything I have thrown to it on this havoc mstc and runs my gatortail, 40 watt cubes on the back, southern lite rooster tail on my gatortail, southern lite gen3 light bar, Phoenix interior strip lights, lights in all my hatches, southern kite exterior strip lights, 4 8 inch speakers in my boat with an amp, probably forgetting my stuff but what it boils to is it runs a whole lot of stuff. I don’t lose power through any of it like I would with a flooded or agm. The lights are the brightest they can be and the speakers are as loud as they can be with everything on at once. I will never own another boat without one. I use their little 30 ah to run a livewell and my livescope stuff fishing. Best thing I ever did was switch my stuff on my personal boat to lithiums. Next year before summer I’m overhauling our bay boat with lithiums instead of flooded for weight savings and once again full power to everything no matter how many accessories are being used
I emailed you about this vid... thought you posted it like 2 years ago... boy was I way off... ha ha! Great info here!
I learned a lot. I follow a few inshore boat builders down here in Florida. Lithium batteries for those boats multiplied a ton. Lithium battery pros. Bass boas even tin. Inshore flats boats bay boats even your bigger offshore boats. All those boats great value for lithium. Now here’s where a question lithium. A 1660 Jon tiller 50hp I don’t see a much of a gain
Be careful with that powerpole charge. I know several people here locally that are having their lithiums go into sleep mode. Got rid of the charge and no issues since. I love my ionics with noco gen4pro charger. If I'm not mistaken a lot of batteries are now coming out with a BMS system to protect them from overcharging.
I think it's overkill to have a Charge and lithiums, but there are many documented issues with the Charge and lithiums together nonetheless. A software update has been released by Power-Pole that should fix that issue.
What’s everyone’s thoughts about doing 1 (36v) or 3 (12v) system for the trolling motor? Just worried that if the 36v goes bad then your down but if you have 3 12s then at least you still could run the trolling motor even if one battery goes bad.
oh i didnt see your comment but i had the same question...
@@CMDAVISs The thing to compare is the amps also. My understanding is the one 36 volt battery. The monster does say 74 amps. But a lot of batterys are labeled 50 amps 36 volts. Does not have as much run time as three 100 amp lithium’s anyways. Kind of also depends on if you fish in the middle of nowhere. Say going to Canada for a week. If your one 36 volt went down. If you are close to some stores. You could quickly buy three super cheap flooded cells. Throw them in to Finish out the weeks vacation. I know 36 volt minnkotas could sort of work on 24 volt. But not really recommended compared to the force trolling motors. That can run on either. If money was not a factor. You could install two 36 volt battery’s in the boat. If one went bad. You would still have 36 volt. The only thing to check. Is not all the lithium’s can be hooked up to each other. Not sure if you could hook up two 36 volt batterys together. Might depend on brand.
3 50 ah Ionics on my 112 Fortrex and 31 series AGM for my engine and electronics. Ionics 4 bank charger does all of them. 2 years in and I love them. The Bluetooth app is great.
I had lithiumpro batteries in my boat back a few years back. They lasted me only about 3.5 years. I tried to coordinate with LP and their “prorated” replacement was going to about 75% of new cost. I went back to traditional batteries and have no regrets. If you loose your 36V during a tournament you can’t get it replaced quickly at a local parts store. Unless you are able to have a spare 36V battery with you.
I like the concept of them but the cost was / is pretty pretty steep still. Hopefully they keep improving the technology on them and bring the price down.
Battle born in the old boat and ionic in the vexus 100ah. So far I freaking love them. Price is crazy but I hate charging and swapping batteries
I have a vexus 1880 my question is did you have to upgrade the charger. Mine has the real pro 3 bank charger and I was wondering if that would work for lithium batteries?
The charger should be a specific lithium charcher. My battle born had a battle born smart charger. A smart charger can charge agm, lith, and lead acid batteries.
Thank you for doing this video. A
ll of the videos are helping with my new Blazer Boat build. The Ultrex video helped a lot. I asked for the lithium batteries and you answered all of my questions, Thanks again. Speed, Money, No Brakes!
Andy love the videos. I use bass pro lithiums (got a deal on them). They are rebadged relions and I have had great luck with them. One thing to note on safety is that these batteris are lithium-iron composition as opposed to lithium-ion you find in watches and cell phones. It is my understanding that the chemistry in these batteries are more stable but at the cost of a little capacity in comparison to lithium-ion.
Yes, this is a huge differentiator....
Going to be 2 lithium Pros back when I can get it to you. Still 5 solid years of use
Keep up the content! You will have hundreds of thousands of subscribers before you know it. Love the straight forward real info 👊👍🤙 Been binge watching!
Also - Have 3 battleborn lithiums on my trolling motor. Big motor died and trolling motor got me SEVERAL miles up the lake with 27% charge left
Running all miller-tech lithium batteries and they’re the way to go!!
Great video Andy! Thinking about making the change, great information.
Running rebel 100 amp batteries a veteran on company and there great
I run a monster 36v 50ah with a power pole charge. When I went to this set up my boat sat 4inch higher on the trailer. My hole shot is amazing. Getting a monster for a starting cant wait to see what happens with that in my boat.
This year I bit the bullet. I am running 3 Monster 12V 100Ah after doing my research. One for my 2 Humminbird Solix 12 and 360. 2 for my 24V Ultrex. So far I been impressed with them. Trolling motor is running at the end of the day without power loss. Meters are also running strong with both meters and 360 on all day. I am charging the batteries with the Minn Kota precision battery charger made to charge lithium batteries. This charger is supposed to wake up a lithium battery if it shuts down to my understanding. Is it worth the money. I would say yes. Less weight, strong at the end of the day. I do run a AGM battery for my starter battery. And also, have switches to cut pwer when charging. Do your homework before buying.
I wish team marine was some sort of boat dealer I think we could get some great rigged boats that would last
You are gonna be excited for the near future Richard! ;)
Love your channel. You have really got me interested in the Suzuki engines. Good to have a semi-unbiased opinion.
I am running Ionic lithium batteries with their charger and love them, I get multiple days out of a charge!
I been “on the fence”. You just nudged me over. Thanks!
Awesome video!!! Thanks for the education!
Great video Andy still on the fence
I'm running Gline lithium with a NOCO charger. To me if your not using a good charger it's like putting bad gas in your boat. NOCO chargers can charge a different battery type on each lead which is nice if your cranking battery is lead acid AGM etc.
Lithium Iron-Phosphate is not the same chemistry that has a bad rap about exploding. That is Lithium Ion. Totally different technology. LifePo4 doesn’t do that
If the warranty length is exagerated, like LED light bulbs, for instance, then these things should last about 3 years...
Thanks for the video. Learned a lot. Keep up the awesome job.
Thanks buddy!
Im fine with the new sonar. My problem is going 70 mph to the next spot, some go 80 or 100 mph. Your asking for speed limits with the leash talk.
Is it possible for you guys to do a video on using a lithium batteries as a starting battery. That would be great. I’m thinking of buying Dakota batteries for trolling motor and starting/electronics. Cheers
Get the Ionic's .... it's a no brainer!!!
PS.. PP Charge with the new firmware is absolute garbage.
Ionic, 125 cranking, 3 50’s for ghost
Monster is the only way to go. 5 year free replacement with a new battery if you have any issues. They mail you out a new battery that day. US based tech support with people who can help you.
Where is this guy located??? Look like a marine shop in the back ground... what is the the top 5 lithium battery and $$$
LaCrosse, WI
when I upgrade to a ultrex I plan on adding one of those monster 24v lithium batteries. I say buy once cry once its worth the purchase.
What size of battery (ah) would you recommend for a 24V Terrova on an 18.5' aluminum boat to troll 1.5-2.0 mph for 8 hours?
There's a lot of variables that are involved with that. We'd recommend the highest amp hour battery or batteries you can afford. Then you won't have to worry. 2x 12v 120ah Monsters should do the job all day
I wish there were more places as dedicated as your around the country. It’s so hard to find a good marine service center.
We appreciate that comment Andrew! We certainly hope y'all find that great service center that takes care of ya
Nice video . I know you like customer service. Call and talk to Miller tech. Great company and batteries. Great charger as well. Several pros, not sponsored running them.
We will give them a call Jamie
Thanks for information
Powerpole charger has had issues charging lthiums. They had an update addressing the issue not sure if it was fixed yet.
I just bought the RoyPow 24V 105A troll battery comes with a charger and marine grade build WIFi & Bluetooth app it’s unreal. Haven’t used it just got it today.
Running millertechs and will never go back. Nothing frustrated me more then my trolling motor battery’s running out of power, now I don’t have to worry about that anymore. Had them for 4 years now
Definitely think Millertech is one of the top brands out there. Numerous big names run them and I have had nothing but good things to say from mine and all the boats I've put them in.
Big names getting paid
I just purchased a 36 volt lithium USA battery and charger. hope it does well for my ultrex. I am brand new to the lithium system hope it does well My local dealer is happy with them it’s a investment but the advantages seem big
Question
Where would you install the monsters on a Bullet 20XD?
Doesn’t seem to be any room in the back
I’ve been wanting to upgrade to a 36 volt system
Where there's a will there's a way!
I got 4 of the pro-guide lithium and love them.
My question is should I run them all the way down or is it OK to charge after each day ? Never had them below 50% after 12hrs of use on my solixs 15 and 12 pulling a of voltage.
i just bought a 2007 stratos 294 xl that came with 3 agm batteries. boat came with 1 12" 1 8" and 1 7" hummingbird. iam getting rid of the 8" and 7" and adding 12gpsmap garmin and 2 9uhd ecomap with panoptics and adding mega 360 lol. with one lithium run all this or are the agm sufficient. thoughts
Any opinions on the RoyPow lithium. i run an all electric boat with a 60 volt ray which can be ran at 72 volts. Roypow makes a 72 volt pack and was curious if you guys have any experience with them
We do not have any experience with them, however we will check them out. Thanks for the info j s
Awesome video. Amazing channel. Love it.
Great show Andy 👍👍 I am going with lithium batteries this fall been waiting for you to do a show on this l am going to use a AGM for starting only and House lithium for everything else great job bud 👍👍
I haven't actually witnessed a meltdown, but I've seen the results of one, and heard of a dozen more. Pretty Scary!
The last thing I want is to be out in the middle of a lake on a cold winter day.....and having something/anything in my boat that I suddenly want to be far FAR away from. 😳
The industry appears to be working really hard to keep those instances quiet, and that freaks me out. I don't want anything in my boat that I don't understand or trust.
This is in regards to the Ultrex. Ever since it came out I have seen over a dozen take a crap during a tournys. Why should I get an Ultrex over bassicly any other brand? I’m a shallow water guy and run a MG X5 digital. I have beat it up and have never had a problem.
All brands have issues and the majority of problems with them are from owner neglect.
My brother and I have Ionic for the past two years no problems . I use there charger and they are Bluetooth.
I would appreciate a little more knowledge on your part with these LiFePO4 batteries. These are not the same type of lithium batteries that are in your phone or quadcopter. These were built to be very safe.
Monster 40ah on my 36v 112 is sickkkkk
You must fish only 45 minutes a day? The max discharge rate for a 112lb TM is 52 Amps a hour.
You should look into powerhouse lithium they're veteran owned company they have 16 V for your electronics 12 24 and 36 V batteries with a 15 year warranty And chargers plus they have a run & gun charger.
Would you run your graphs off those with the trolling motor or just get a separate smaller battery?
All lithium batteries come with a BMS now that prevents over charging
Ionics!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I just bought a Suzuki 9.9hp 2022 electric start. In the manual it specifically says do not Lithium. just an FYI
Good to know Chris
Having a surge protector for a charger would be far more important than GFCI. GFCI exists to trip off if there's a circuit issue that could result in human injury. Chargers fry/fail when a power surge comes through the power distribution grid. Such a surge is what will often zap a charger - as well as anything downstream (BMS in Li batteries).
Gread Vid, very informative... Suggest to either mic up the other guy in the room asking the questions or repeat his question...
I’ve been running Dakota for a year with a Victron DC to DC charger
Great video man thanks. Would you go lithium on 12v side for a 1990 black max xr2 150? Wasnt sure if the charging issues was applicable to the old school reg/rec setups? Thank you in advance keep up the great content 👏
We wouldn't personally in that case
Run all day on 1-36v lithium for troller? Building my next boat and thinking going 1-36v for troller and 2-12v for starting and electronics.
Can anyone attest to getting “days” out of your lithium batteries without charging? I was told by a dealer if I pair 2-36 volt 60amp hour batteries together I could easily get 3-4 days on a single charge that would be powerhouse lithium.
What brand do you use?
You don't need two different onboard chargers. Noco offers multi bank chargers that can do flooded, AGM, Lithium 6v, 12v. If you are running 24v/36v single battery that's a little different. If multi batteries wired in series good to go. Up to 10amp charge rate I believe. So you will give up a little on the speed of charging lithium, but only need one onboard charger. They are also IPX67 waterproof rated.....
he got rid of his hair & added some "EARS"...LOL....
👍🏻🤣👍🏻
I heard from a electrical engineer, you can use a standard charger if it puts out 14v....?
do the monsters have a cold temp charging cutoff on them like Ionics? If so how can i buy one from you guys? I live about an hour and a half from LAX
Power pole charge, no problem 36 v lithium and a flooded 12 v battery?
Power pole charge works best with single 24v or 36v batteries on trolling side over 2-3 12v. Get a monster 36v and lithium cranking
