    good video. I am glad they actually talked about some of the pros and cons of the camera. with the recent price drop I am very close to pulling the trigger to shoot my next documentary. The C100 Mark II is great, but I think this will take the production to the next level.

    Canon C 300 camera.
    I will ask you as a practitioner:
    I installed the Relocator from Zacuto on the shoulder grip
    There I installed the original grip unit on it. I connected it with a cable to the socket on the camera body. With the grip unit I can now only adjust the aperture, the record function is not active.
    How to fix it, what is set wrong?
    grip init on the body has both functions, but on the relocator only one
    what is ?
    do you know what's wrong?

    16 grand for this camera doesn't make any sense. For 20 grand you can easily get Scarlet Dragon with everything you need and more. But I guess lots of wedding/event videographers will jump on it anyway because of customer loyalty.

    • @lbowesphoto
      @lbowesphoto Před 9 lety +2

      Dmitry Burenok Shooting a wedding or live event with a RED is a chore. Shooting a wedding or live event with a Canon C, regardless of model, is a pleasure. IMO no other camera comes close to what the Canon cine cameras offer for live event shooting. They take a gorgeous image, they can pretty much shoot in the dark, they can record and stay powered on for hours on end, they're lightweight, and they come with everything you need right out of the box.
      Is it pricey? Sure. But that's what rentals are for.

      We purchased the original C300 as soon as it was available, and took delivery on the first one shipped to Michigan. It's been a joy and paid it's own way since day one. We owned ours for over a year while watching as VICE, MSNBC, OWN and numerous other networks and shows switched over to, and started asking for this beautiful camera.
      We took delivery last week of our new C300 MarkII, and I have no doubt that this camera will set the bar even higher.
      For a camera that flat-out works in every situation you put it in, the C300 and C300 MarkII are my all-time favorites, and that includes the first video camera I ever nervously stood behind, a Norelco PC 70. Yes, I'm an old man who loves new tech!

    Im seriously thinking on buying a camera for my short films but I am not able to decide which one would suit better , canon c300 or black magic ursa. need some serious help here.

    • @UnratedAwesomeness
      @UnratedAwesomeness Před 7 lety +1

      Kaushik Haldar both will be good. C300 is more of a documentary/production camera. Ursa mini is a narrative film makers camera. Buying the canon would mean paying for more features that may not benefit you. My advice -never buy without trying to rent first. Rent for the time you're filming and buy once you've tried both. From my personal experience the c-series cameras are addictive as an indie cinematographer. The features that make it great for documentary and reality tv as the guy said, also make it INCREDIBLY easy to use on set and speeds things up on set when the camera department is limited. So I guess my opinion is that you should RENT the c300 if you're the only person on camera but rent the ursa if there's a big crew. BUY whichever you found better during your time with it

      Sony fans are brainwashed with specs. Image quality, reliability and usability are what count. If you listened to this video you would have heard the Canon is the most hired camera by far. Real professionals, not fanboy CZcams viewers, know better.

    • @1barnet1
      @1barnet1 Před 8 lety

      image quality?
      Well that is a landslide win for the Fs5 over the C100
      Useability?
      Ever heard about that electronic ND the Fs5 has? Then no need to deal with seperate external recorder to get half decebt gradeable footage out of it. Win number 2.
      Reliability impossible to tell considering this is something like a long run thing.
      Well i guess it's easier to make outdated garbage reliable. I will give you that one.

      +1barnet1 I am watching a video about the C300, not the C100. You seem to be a very bitter and unhappy person. I am a Canon (DSLR/mirrorless camera) user and so I frequent Canon videos to see what they are bringing out. I know relatively little about video, but plenty about still photography. Almost every time I go to a "Canon" video I see your name there rubbishing them as though you have a vendetta against Canon? You seem to know a lot about video cameras and still cameras too, but you also have strong opinions which are not always fact. I'll take Philip Bloom's opinion over yours any day of the week and he says the C300 is a fantastic camera. Almost everyone who uses the C300 and makes a video about it loves it. The only garbage around here is you. A little opinionated bitter man spreading his hatred for Canon all over CZcams. You really ought to go back to your Sony videos and stop being a troll.

      ***** autofocus is great for doc work, but that means using still lenses which are often inferior. Cine lenses will be manual for a long time to come.

    • @1barnet1
      @1barnet1 Před 9 lety +2

      +Stuart Philkill
      Still lenses are not inferior. Look at Sigma Art lenses for instance which are amazingly corrected for CA very sharp just beautifully made.
      The problem with using still lenses is that they are made for stills and not video. They are not parfocal so the FoV changes while focussing.
      professional Cinema glass doesn't have that problem. Then they have standardized sizes so exchanging the lenses is much easier with all those gears in place.

      Depends on the lens.
      The Sigma 35mm and 50mm art have no distortion worth mentioning.
      It is a problem on the popular 24-105mm L from Canon.

Give me 2k, 4k, at 10 bit and I'm happy. What happened to the Canon 1D-C? It's a $15,000.00 paperweight now.

    • @stuartphilkill416
      @stuartphilkill416 Před 9 lety +3

      PeterFreitag There are many things that make this a far more robust production camera than any mirrorless. Internal NDs, 10 and 12 bit internal, 4k RAW output. For working professionals, these features justify the price. Quite frankly, Canon took the market by storm with the first c300 and I wouldn't be surprised to see this model achieve even greater success. Think what you want, but the market will speak for itself.

    • @1barnet1
      @1barnet1 Před 9 lety

      +Stuart Philkill
      This has to compete mostly with the Sony Fs7.
      Which is just as capable has internal ND's. And it costs 7999,- istead of 16999

    • @matrodmedia
      @matrodmedia Před 9 lety +4

      +Stuart Philkill Yeah, most of all these new mirrorless kids (which is not a bad term, I am one of them, but a large amount of them do this) don't see the value in functionality and workflow in a professional setting. Everything you listed, and more. The second major thing they are missing/forgetting, is rental houses. The Zacuto guys were dead on when they said it: this is a rental house's #1 camera. Why? Because for many crews it's too damn expensive to justify purchasing to own, but the image that comes out of it at the end and the physically functionality are some of the best in the business.

    its a 4k camera........ so? There are cameras that are better cameras with feature that is 8K for half the price.........4K is old now..also if a camera cant integrate with SSDs....its pretty stupid...it only makes it more expensive for the user...you cant do 120FPS slow mo on this camera at 2K or 4K...... wtf is this shit...for film makers out there please be open minded about cameras do not resort to Canon...its not the king of cameras ..its just a brand game...

  • @iangrogan5261
    @iangrogan5261 Před 8 lety +2

    Canon has the Apple syndrome. They make cameras with flaws and when it breaks (the cables on the old c300) you're the one who pays for it. Idk why anyone goes for canons cinema line when sony has cameras that are half the price, double the features, traditional video form factor, and a more cinematic color science (obviously an opinion).

      +Ian Grogan Do you have a youtube link for the Sony Camera's please

    • @MattSezer
      @MattSezer Před 8 lety +2

      +Ian Grogan Sony has equally if not more flimsy parts parts on their cameras. Almost everybody, including myself, thinks Canon has better color science. Sony used to have horrible form factors (FS100 WTF?), although now they're equal if not better than Canon. However, Sony does have Canon beat if you look only at features for the price.

    • @matrodmedia
      @matrodmedia Před 8 lety +1

      +Matt Sezer Absolutely right. Also, anyone with real working experience with multiple DIFFERENT camera systems will know and realize that paper specs are great and all, but they are trumped easily by other things which are often worth the price premium. As well as being aware that nearly every camera system has its own value in the field.
