    Beware of exaggeration in supplication
We should be sure to always ask Allah for goodness and to avoid asking Allah for evil.
    Allah said:
Mankind supplicates for evil as he supplicates for good, for man is ever hasty.
    Surah Al-Isra 17:11
Whenever we make a supplication, the angels will make a similar supplication for us. If we ask for goodness then the angels supplicate for goodness, and if we ask for evil then the angels supplicate for evil.
Abu Ad-Darda reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
    مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ مُسْلِمٍ يَدْعُو لأَخِيهِ بِظَهْرِ الْغَيْبِ إِلاَّ قَالَ الْمَلَكُ وَلَكَ بِمِثْلٍ
There is no Muslim servant who supplicates for his brother behind his back except that the angel says: For you the same.
Source: Sahih Muslim 2732, Grade: Sahih
Therefore, we should never ask Allah to curse someone or to punish them in the Hellfire.
Samrah ibn Jundab reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
    لَا تَلَاعَنُوا بِلَعْنَةِ اللَّهِ وَلَا بِغَضَبِهِ وَلَا بِالنَّارِ
Do not invoke the curse of Allah, or His wrath, or the Hellfire.
Source: Sunan At-Tirmidhi 1976, Grade: Sahih
We should not ask Allah for inappropriate requests whether in this life or in the Hereafter.
Abdullah ibn Mughaffal reported: He heard his son supplicating, “O Allah, I ask you for the white palace on the right side of Paradise when I enter it.” Abdullah said: O my son, ask Allah for Paradise and seek refuge in Him from the Hellfire, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say:
    سَيَكُونُ قَوْمٌ يَعْتَدُونَ فِي الدُّعَاءِ
There will be some people who will transgress in supplication.
Source: Sunan Ibn Majah 3864, Grade: Sahih
Ibn Sa’d reported: His father Sa’d ibn Abu Waqqas heard him supplicating, “O Allah, I ask you for Paradise, its blessings, its pleasures, and such-and-such. I seek refuge in you from Hellfire, from its chains, from its collars, and from such-and-such.” Then his father said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say:
There will be people who will transgress in supplication, so beware not to be one of them. If you are granted Paradise, you will be granted all that is good therein, and if you are protected from the Hellfire, you will be protected from all that is evil therein.
Source: Sunan Abu Dawud 1480, Grade: Hasan
Whenever we need to make a worldly decision, we should perform the special prayer for guidance (salat al-istikharah). One of the most important aspects of this prayer is to qualify whatever we ask for in the world by asking for it only if it is good for us in this life and in the Hereafter.
Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
O Allah, I seek guidance from your knowledge and power from your might, and I ask you from your tremendous favor. Verily, you have power and I do not have power, and you know and I do not know. You are the knowing of the unseen. O Allah, if you know that this matter is good for my religion and my livelihood and my ending, then decree it for me and make it easy for me and bless me in it. But if you know that this matter is evil for my religion and my livelihood and my ending, then divert it from me and keep me away from it, and decree for me what is good for me and make me content with it.
Source: Sahih Bukhari 1113, Grade: Sahih
We do not want to ask for only good in this life or only good in the Hereafter. Rather, we should ask Allah for both goodness in this life and in the Hereafter.
    Allah said:
Our Lord, give us goodness in this world and goodness in the Hereafter and save us from the punishment of the Hellfire.
    Surah Al-Baqarah 2:201
Finally, we do not want to raise our voices so loudly when we supplicate, but rather we should supplicate (remaining part is in comments)

Finally, we do not want to raise our voices so loudly when we supplicate, but rather we should supplicate quietly or silently within ourselves.
Abu Musa reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
    أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ارْبَعُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِكُمْ فَإِنَّكُمْ لَا تَدْعُونَ أَصَمَّ وَلَا غَائِبًا وَلَكِنْ تَدْعُونَ سَمِيعًا بَصِيرًا
O people, be gentle with yourselves for you are not calling upon one who is deaf or absent. Rather, you are calling upon the Hearing, the Seeing.
Source: Sahih Bukhari 3910, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi
The best practice for us is always to follow the Messenger of Allah’s guidance in supplication. We should take his tradition (sunnah) as a model for us to emulate when we supplicate to Allah.
Success comes from Allah, and Allah knows best.

This wasn’t explained in the most easiest way really but i feel like what he’s trying to say is that well obviously you can ask Allah for what you want as long as its halal (like a righteous spouse etc.) and you can ask in detail yeah, BUT lets say you asked very specifically for so and so height and this and that but if you left that part blank and just asked Allah for the best then obviously what he will decree for you will be better, prettier etc. so i guess what he’s trying to say is that what Allah will want to give you is always better/ and he probably knows what you want better than you know yourself too

I tried but i couldnt find a single claim from Quran or Hadith to support this. On the contrary there are hadiths that say: “It was narrated that ‘Aa’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Ask Allah for everything, even shoelaces”.
So shoe laces are very specific and go against these claim of excesive dua. And please if there is a hadith about this or proof show it, dont try to make things up or take weak sources to put fear and misery in the ummah.

@@ghurabathestranger3144 there is a difference between asking for what is haram/forbidden like grant me eternal life etc. Where as on the other hand it is a different thing when one is becoming excessive is asking for or making dua like I not only want shoelace but the shoe laces in pink color and this size or I want a life partner who is on the Deen and is handsome and wealthy as well.
So what people are confusing in the comment section is they mixing the making dua for haram things with being excessive in making dua.
What others want to know is that one even need a shoelace then he show ask ALLAH ALMIGHTY for it then how is being excessive is forbidden?
Also sheikh clearly mentioned about being excessive in dua not about making dua for something that is forbidden/haram.
So my question is I ask YA RABBI I want to pursue a such an such degree with such an such marks then is it wrong or should i just ask YA RABBI grant me beneficial knowledge and the opportunity to study and pursue my dreams (when other definitely say don't hold back while making dua you are asking the LORD of impossible).
So please elaborate in this regard

    • @AltroSinefred

Allah knows best but here is what Ibn Tayumiyah said about this matter:
The transgression in supplication that is forbidden in the Saying of Allah (which means): {Call upon your Lord in humility and privately; indeed, He does not like transgressors..} [Quran 7:55]; is due to two matters as Ibn Taymiyyah may Allaah have mercy upon him said:
“Transgression in supplication is sometimes for a person to ask for what he is not permitted to ask of help to do what is forbidden, and sometimes he asks what Allah does not do, like to ask to make him live until the Day of Resurrection.” [End of quote]
So it seems like you cannot ask for sinful things and also for things like "Oh Allah make be able to live without oxygen, etc". Hope that makes sense

You need to be very careful about posting videos with titles like this. And your description has Hadith about duas made for the hereafter, where one cannot even imagine what Jannah will look like. Do not apply things all together like a cake layer. This reminds me of unfortunately most desi communities believe that pants that are lower than the ankles means your arrogant. If you have a unwise sheikh, he’ll tell you your going to hell, and a wise sheikh will carefully analyze this and say that “IN THAT TIME, IT WAS ARROGANT TO WEAR PANTS BELOW THE ANKLES, NOT NOW ADAYS”.
Just because you can find a Hadith does not mean it actually means that. Wallahi choose different video topics it is a mercy from Allah that he allows us to prostrate and ask for things, and it is a mercy from Allah that we know to have patience if something is not decreed.

  • @falakgilani6448
    @falakgilani6448 Před 2 měsíci

That's your understanding of the hadith which I think is extremely dangerous. You are not only depriving yourself but also anyone who listens to you of the Mercy of Allah. You can ask Allah SWT for whatever you want, talk to Him since He is your Best Friend, your Only True Friend and He is Able to Give you all that you want and more. So ask. *Nothing is "haram" to ask for except for the haram stuff.*
Btw, according to the hadith, you are not able to make dua to Allah unless Allah Allows you to make it because He Wishes to Accept it. So to you and those that believe you: may be it's not meant for you yet. May Allah Forgive, Guide and Bless us all, amen.
PS Just to add, it is indeed disrespectful and wrong to say certain things eg O Allah Give me NOW.. subhanAllah. That's just basic manners because of the One you are talking to, subhanAllah. But even there you can beg Allah, as a begger would, since you and your heart are in desperate need of something and Only He Can Give you what you need or want.
