    I bought a 2022 SR this year. Bare bones with the utility package and 4-cylinder and added the 4x4. Getting a brand new truck with 4x4 for a 29k MSRP is a smoking deal.

      I got a question for you Jordan. Do you know if these basic SR Tacoma's have the same suspension or shock set up as the normal sized SR5? Obviously the trd and off road models have heavy duty suspension, but I was wondering if these sx models have a decent spec grade suspension as well? Thanks

    • @jordanmcmurray5785
      @jordanmcmurray5785 Před 2 lety +2

      @@nocturnalme3549 The suspension on the SR is the same as the SR5 for the Tacoma. The SR5 only adds fogs, TPMS, intermittent wipers, keyless entry (I added that after market for $199) and a nicer interface (Toyota’s entune) and then some minor cosmetic upgrades (the wheels and front bumper painted) For me it wasn’t worth the extra $3k cause I use it as a work truck.

    This is all the truck you need. A V6 and 4x4 with a 6ft bed. All the higher trims with all of the gadgets and gizmos are such a waste of money. So you see grown "men" daily driving $50k+ trucks and SUVs that never hit the trails. And get a Prius or a sedan if you need a reliable daily driver that doesn't consume gallons and gallons of gas. $40k for a TRD Off Road Tacoma is ridiculous. Yes, you'll miss MTS and Crawl control but non-TRD Off Road is capable of 90% of most scenarios. A set of Bilstein 5100s with a front 2" lift and rear 1" lift is $460. By going with a SR/SR5, the money you save can potentially get you a 2nd gen Prius. You might get lucky a find a well taken care of Prius for $5-$6K. Win/win.

    That was the greatest Jason Statham impersonation ever done, and if my eyes were closed I would have thought it was actually him. It would be great if you could also do Liam Neeson, another actor with the same portfolio of movies lately.
    My local Toyota dealer notified me yesterday that my 2022 Tacoma SR should arrive today. They had nothing on the lot but two SR models in the pipeline so I got dibs on one. It has the utility package which deletes the rear seats which I want, but it also blacks out certain features like the handles and bumper, etc. The only thing I really dislike is that the lower section under the grill is also black which really makes it look like a company work truck. I will probably have that painted or replaced as soon as possible.
    This will be my first Toyota since I'm a Honda guy, and the only truck I ever had was a 1984 Ford Ranger. I think if I really like the Tacoma I just might order an upgraded version in the future since I wouldn't lose much selling or trading this one.

    It's been over a year since I've had my Tacoma SR5 and I adore it. Since it's a Toyota, it's been completely reliable. It could use a better transmission since the shifts are long and high in the rev range but it doesn't affect me most of the time. What I can legitimately complain about is the lack of power. This truck is gutless off the line. I literally get tailgated when accelerating from a stop because it doesn't get up to speed in a timely manner. It needs more gears and at least 20-30 more horsepower. However, since this transmission has been used for 16 years, it has been very reliable. What you sacrifice in power you make up for in reliability. That's what makes me enjoy this truck more than anything. I do have a Maverick on order but if the order falls through or if it doesn't come in good time, I'm seriously considering another Tacoma with a few more options. 4WD has to be one of them. Also, it would be nice to get the TRD Sport trim like I originally intended. But with the hot market, short supply and high demand and with the dealer markups that come with it, I'm afraid it'll be too unaffordable. I'm not sure what to do yet.

      @hateVegas dude I’m going from a 09 Corolla to a Tacoma. Anything is going to have better acceleration than that. And I want something new. My fathers got an 18 2.7 4x4 (not a waste of a truck like any 2wd is), and he loves the thing. I’ve got a couple of friends with 3rd gens who also love them and haven’t had any issues. The transmissions learn, so driving them once or twice won’t give you the real experience. You gotta drive them a couple thousand miles for them to learn your driving style. The 2015s are amazing too, but I’m not paying a price similar to a new truck for one that’s 7 years old at this point, reliable as hell or not. If I decide the new Tacoma is too unreliable (which I doubt it would be) I’ll save up for a 4Runner

I have the 2.7l 4 cyl. in my old 2012 Tacoma, and it is fine with the manual transmission, but I found it lacking with an automatic tranny, so I ordered it with the 6 cyl. The 4 cyl. didn't offer enough response from the foot pedal for me, and I only felt acceleration after a downshift. I really wanted the 4 cyl. as it is a beast for reliability, and durability, but the truck has to satisfy my need for being responsive, and reacting immediately to my input.

    I can’t be the only one who is unhappy with their Tacoma. I’ve had mine for 2 years now and I had an f150 for a week and it was so much more comfortable and convienent than my Tacoma is. But yea reliability I guess….

    • @robob221
      @robob221 Před 2 lety

      The Tacoma shines the brightest when it’s used and viewed as a truck. If you are just tooling it around as a daily, it’s rough edges start to show more and more. My 2021 Carolla hatchback was totaled and all the dealer had on the lot where Camry’s, base Corolla sedans and one 2021 Tacoma v6 SX access cab in black. The residual is so high on the Tacoma that I could lease it for about the same as a 23k Corolla. Incredible. Driving a truck for the first time in my life sure is a treat but can be annoying if you drive on shitty pavement. Otherwise it’s quieter than the Carolla which was astounding and it just feels tough given it’s weight. I put on 265 Michelins defender XLT tires with white lettering and this thing is grippy and silent below 65mph. Wind noise is louder than tire noise. My biggest complaint is the gas mileage when you don’t drive like a senior citizen. I am spending much more with gas every month than I accounted for. Would of rather spent more for a lease that was more efficient. Live and learn.

    The Toyota fanboys have to use lots of words to dance around the "outdated" nature of these trucks.
    A six speed transmission on a 2021 with tech that looks like something out of a 2010, more dead buttons than functioning buttons and a map button that does nothing at all. I get that this vehicle has the perception of long term reliability, but who wants to drive this thing for 10 years when it felt it was 10 years old brand new?
    With domestic products like the F150 lasting for a couple hundred thousand miles, somedayToyota won't be able to continue coasting by on their perceived reliability.
    Eventually, even their biggest fan boys will start demanding more.

    • @AlphaShark
      @AlphaShark  Před 2 lety

      You can't compare a Taco to an F-150, it's apples to oranges. This generation of Tacoma was built in 2016 with nearly new parts, only sharing some buttons with the outgoing models. By now it does feel a little older with some functionality I of course have to admit. But the current Ford Ranger is literally built on a platform from 2012, if you wanna talk about outdated, that's the truck. Heck, the GMC Canyon and Chevy Colorado are also long overdue for a mid-cycle refresh too. Based on the new Tundra I am confident the next generation of Tacoma will knock it out of the park.
