- Igor Sikorsky, as a young man in Russia, tried unsuccessfully to build a helicopter in 1909. He went on to build fixed-wing aircraft but returned to helicopters in 1938. Within three years, he had developed the first successful, practical single-rotor helicopter in the United States: the VS-300.
See this helicopter on exhibit at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation.
I'm 30 and have never left my state this dude moved from Russia to USA in 1919 I cant even fathom what that journey must of been like.

Ihor Sikorsky’s a Ukrainian! He was born & raised in Kyiv. He studied in Kyiv. He talked with pleasure about this city.

It was not Ukraine at that time, and majority of population of Kiev were Russians, those defined themselves as Ukrainians mostly stayed on the western border of what is known as modern Ukraine. And it doesn't matter anyways, because you got nothing to do with that anyways.

by any chance did he fly in England / as today while out detecting I found and aliminim badge thing of 1 of these choppers / it read ( SHELL on 1 side and sikorsky VS - 300 ,1939 on it ,what do I do with it
Take some pictures and post it on a historical aviation site. They'll probably tell you if it real, and where it was on the craft down to the square inch, lol. Just in case, try to refrain from handling it with bare hands. The natural oils in your skin might damage it further.

the first helicopter was Nazi and it was Focke-Wulf Fw 61 in 1936, Flettner Fl 282 in 1940 and Flettner Fl 265 in 1939, it was not Sikorsky
