The main reason the Queen never met LBJ: he was suffering from the flu and in the hospital when Churchill died. He very much wanted to lead the U.S. delegation to the state funeral in London (LBJ, De Gaulle, and Kosygin were the only leaders allowed to lead or send delegations of three representatives as their respective countries, U.S., France, and the Soviet Union, were Britain's chief wartime allies). that he arranged for the Queen to meet him in private after the funeral. Beautiful place. Purple and silver are the Queen Elizabeth’s royal colors. Yup. We need that to honor her life and passing at 96. We need to mourn her and the family ...she left behind. Monarchs are different from Americans- who don’t have any world war experiences or anything. (To say she was ww2 was great for me -since my own dad served four years as a radio operator... aboard the USS Californian battleship carrier.) We found the family memorial pictures of the carrier Naval ship plus, his Naval suit buttons and the bar he was given plus the papers he signed. Naval officers were average guys back then. Queen Elizabeth was just a girl.. then. Wasn’t sure.. if she would be a royal family members. Her dad served first. Yup. 🍁⭐️🇺🇸🇬🇧🍒Deeply sad this afternoon. Thank you 🙏!

Thank goodness Elizabeth II did so much for Anglo-American relations.
Her death should remind us why the UK has a monarchy (there has been much publicity, not much thought about why the late queen matters). Monarchy shouldn't be used as real-life soap opera, nor just as material to fill space in the media.
The achievement of the British monarchy should become clear in comparison with the histories of other countries. In the 19th & 20th centuries the U.S.A, France, Germany, Russia, Italy, Spain and Greece suffered in various ways civil wars, political storms, and dictatorships. This shows what can go wrong in the absence of a head of state which is above politics, and which opposes illegal dictatorship. If there are many reasons England, Wales, and Scotland have had no civil war since Culloden in 1746, having a constitutional monarchy to unify all the people is an important reason. In the UK, 'peace' in formal speech is "The King's Peace".
Of course King Charles III's first marriage was a tragic mistake; Prince Philip could be tactless; he & Elizabeth II made mistakes as parents. Whatever mistakes the royal family have made, let us be grateful for the unity the monarchy gives the UK & the world. By stabilizing Britain & the commonwealth (e.g. Canada & Australia), it promotes peace in the world. The sea around it didn't protect the U.S.A. against civil war in the 1860s, and the UK could have suffered civil war over slavery in the 19th century; likewise over world war, loss of empire, economic failure, or race in the 20th. There will always be violence and political problems in the world, and billions of people who know or understand nothing of the British monarchy and the stability it brings. Since the 1700s, billions of people have lived under the British crown without civil war, lynching, dictatorship in their lives. God save King Charles III, and his successors.

Her reign saw the end of colonialism, not its start or continuation. I don't think she was racist when you saw her meeting with interest and smiles the many people she visited around the world and counted many people of colour among her friends, including Nelson Mandela. Infact during her first visit to south Africa she made a thinly veiled swipe at the segregation of peoples which may have made her politicians wince at the time. She adored Africa and its people as well as the Indian subcontinent. As far as environmental destruction is concerned, that criticism can be aimed at all of our governments, not just hers.

Hardly her fault but probably a sensible decision when you look at what has happened to Ukraine. If they hadn't given up their nuclear weapons may be Russia wouldn't have invaded, who knows.
Northern Ireland is much more complicated as most of the people there want to stay British. Incidently, NI was offered to the Irish government during the 2nd world war but they recognised the problem of trying to forcibly unify NI so turned the offer down. Northern Ireland can only be reunified if the people there see it as a better future for themselves, it has nothing to do with the monarchy.
Give to Pakistan. We gave them that country as a separate state from India in the hope that they would live in peace. How's that working out.
While we're on the subject of British colonialism. When we went to Africa they didn't even have wheel barrows, or any wheels for that matter. When we left they had schools, hospitals, aeroplanes and a justice system devoid of slavery. Yes, the British put an end to slavery as well and not just in Africa.

It's hard to recognise that all those countries that were colonised and all those descendants of black slaves in the USA, most, now have better lives than they would have had , had those events not took place.
