It's not about the tire gripping, it's about finding the grip.

There's no grip, it's a controlled two wheel drift all the time.🤙🏻
its not about gripping the ground its about pushing them into ruts, and against tree roots.
they use mud specific tyres.. then it's up to rider skill to pick the right line.

Why not incorporate a Speedometer in the screen/livefotage? That would be really exiting! Do it GoPro! You're missing out! Surely there needs to be GPS signal in the camera! And, for the jumps, insert footage from a stationary camera positioned at the jumps so that we can enjoy the view and get the full understanding of the magnitude.

Sorry to sound ignorant, but how many riders are "safe" regardless of qualifying times? Is it the top 20 in points? I think it was Kerr who said he was in the race even though he was way down on qualifying.

It's something like that. I know that if the top riders crash out in qualifying and get a DNF, for example, they still get to race. It is to do with the number of UCI points they have but I'm not sure how many and whether they're taken from the pervious season rather than current.
@@flippy66 Thanks. Bernard was 18th in points going into qualifying. He qualified 101st today, about 33 seconds behind Coulanges.
The top 20 riders in points get automatic qualification. I'm not sure how it works for the first race of the season though. Probably the top 20 from last season. It stops the favorites going first and sitting on the hot seat for ever because of something unavoidable like a mechanical. I think the protected riders start as if they qualified 20th or something like that

Are the whistles any signs for the driver or are they just random whistles from spectators?
It is for spectators to warn them, that rider is coming
It lets anyone downhill know that a rider has passed a certain point. So, race officials, riders who've wrecked, anyone trying to run across the track: They know a rider is approaching.
It's also to let riders inferno know if someone is much faster right behind them. Not really an issue at this level but defo is handy at regional type races

no, with a bmx you'll need smoother dirt for jumps. They use bikes with suspension in the video to roll over bumps like its nothing.
By looking at the trees section, i'll probably be kissing one of them.
