It's because in french, cat is written as chat and this is a french show AND! in french chat noir means black cat but they kept the name as chat noir instead of black cat so it's chat noir, not cat noir, if you wanna say his name in english then it won't be cat noir but black cat. Glad i am learning french and am able to teach thisto ppl :)
